Genesis 1:1 (NIV) New International Version

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.
4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.
5 God called the light "day", and the darkness he called "night". And there was evening, and there was morning--the first day.
6 And God said, "Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water."
7 So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so.
8 God called the expanse "sky". And there was evening, and there was morning--the second day.
9 And God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear." And it was so.
10 God called the dry ground "land", and the gathered waters he called "seas". And God saw that it was good.
11 Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so.
12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
13 And there was evening, and there was morning--the third day.
14 And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years,
15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so.
16 God made two great lights--the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.
17 God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth,
18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.
19 And there was evening, and there was morning--the fourth day.
20 And God said, "Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky."
21 So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
22 God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth."
23 And there was evening, and there was morning--the fifth day.
24 And God said, "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind." And it was so.
25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."
29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.
30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground--everything that has the breath of life in it--I give every green plant for food." And it was so.
31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning--the sixth day.

3 And God H430 EDP said H559 W-VQY3MS , Let there be H1961 VPY3MS light H216 NMS : and there was H1961 VPY3MS light H216 NMS .
4 And God H430 EDP saw H7200 W-VIY3MS the light H216 D-NMS , that H3588 CONJ it was good H2896 NMS : and God H430 EDP divided H914 W-VII3MS the light H216 D-NMS from H996 PREP the darkness H2822 D-NMS .
5 And God H430 EDP called H7121 W-VQY3MS the light H216 L-NMS Day H3117 NMS , and the darkness H2822 WL-AMS he called H7121 W-VQY3MS Night H3915 NFS . And the evening H6153 NUM-MS and the morning H1242 NUM-MS were H1961 W-VPY3MS the first H259 ONUM day H3117 NMS .
6 And God H430 EDP said H559 W-VQY3MS , Let there be H1961 VPY3MS a firmament H7549 NUM-MS in the midst H8432 B-NMS of the waters H4325 D-OMD , and let H1961 VPY3MS it divide H914 VIPMS the waters H4325 NMP from the waters H4325 L-NMP .
7 And God H430 EDP made H6213 W-VQY3MS the firmament H7549 D-NMS , and divided H914 W-VII3MS the waters H4325 D-CMS which H834 RPRO were under H8478 M-CFS the firmament H7549 D-NMS from H996 PREP the waters H4325 D-CMS which H834 RPRO were above H5921 M-PREP the firmament H7549 D-NMS : and it was H1961 W-VPY3MS so H3651 ADV .
8 And God H430 EDP called H7121 W-VQY3MS the firmament H7549 L-OMS Heaven H8064 NMS . And the evening H6153 NUM-MS and the morning H1242 NUM-MS were H1961 W-VPY3MS the second H8145 ONUM day H3117 NMS .
9 And God H430 EDP said H559 W-VQY3MS , Let the waters H4325 D-CMS under H8478 M-CFS the heaven H8064 D-NMD be gathered together H6960 VNY3MP unto H413 PREP one H259 NUM-MS place H4725 NUM-MS , and let the dry H3004 D-NFS land appear H7200 W-VNI3MS : and it was H1961 W-VPY3MS so H3651 ADV .
10 And God H430 EDP called H7121 W-VQY3MS the dry H3004 L-NFS land Earth H776 GFS ; and the gathering together H4723 WL-NFS of the waters H4325 D-NMS called H7121 W-VQY3MS he Seas H3220 NMP : and God H430 EDP saw H7200 W-VIY3MS that H3588 CONJ it was good H2896 AMS .
11 And God H430 EDP said H559 W-VQY3MS , Let the earth H776 D-GFS bring forth H1876 VHI3MS grass H1877 NMS , the herb H6212 NMS yielding H2232 VHPMS seed H2233 NMS , and the fruit H6529 NMS tree H6086 NMS yielding H6213 VQPMS fruit H6529 NMS after his kind H4327 L-NMS-3MS , whose H834 RPRO seed H2233 CMS-3MS is in itself , upon H5921 PREP the earth H776 D-GFS : and it was H1961 W-VPY3MS so H3651 ADV .
12 And the earth H776 D-GFS brought forth H3318 W-VHY3FS grass H1877 NMS , and herb H6212 NMS yielding H2232 VHPMS seed H2233 NMS after his kind H4327 L-NMS-3MS , and the tree H6086 W-NMS yielding H6213 VQPMS fruit H6529 NMS , whose H834 RPRO seed H2233 NMS-3MS was in itself , after his kind H4327 L-NMS-3MS : and God H430 EDP saw H7200 W-VIY3MS that H3588 CONJ it was good H2896 AMS .
13 And the evening H6153 NUM-MS and the morning H1242 NUM-MS were H1961 W-VPY3MS the third H7992 ONUM day H3117 NMS .
14 And God H430 EDP said H559 W-VQY3MS , Let there be H1961 VPY3MS lights H3974 NMP in the firmament H7549 B-CMS of the heaven H8064 D-NMD to divide H914 L-VHFC the day H3117 D-AMS from H996 PREP the night H3915 AMS ; and let them be H1961 VPY3MS for signs H226 L-CFP , and for seasons H4150 WL-NMP , and for days H3117 WL-NMP , and years H8141 W-GFP :
15 And let them be H1961 W-VPY3MS for lights H3974 L-NMP in the firmament H7549 B-CMS of the heaven H8064 D-NMD to give light H215 L-VHFC upon H5921 PREP the earth H776 D-GFS : and it was H1961 W-VPY3MS so H3651 ADV .
16 And God H430 EDP made H6213 W-VQY3MS two H8147 ONUM great H1419 D-AMP lights H3974 D-AMP ; the greater H1419 D-AMS light H3974 D-AMS to rule H4475 L-CFS the day H3117 D-AMS , and the lesser H6996 D-AMS light H3974 D-AMS to rule H4475 L-CFS the night H3915 D-AMS : he made the stars H3556 D-AMP also .
17 And God H430 EDP set H5414 W-VQQ3MS them in the firmament H7549 B-CMS of the heaven H8064 D-AMP to give light H215 L-VHFC upon H5921 PREP the earth H776 D-GFS ,
18 And to rule H4910 WL-VQFC over the day H3117 B-AMS and over the night H3915 WB-AFS , and to divide H914 WL-VHFC the light H216 D-NMS from H996 PREP the darkness H2822 D-NMS : and God H430 EDP saw H7200 W-VIY3MS that H3588 CONJ it was good H2896 AMS .
19 And the evening H6153 NUM-MS and the morning H1242 NUM-MS were H1961 W-VPY3MS the fourth H7243 ONUM day H3117 NMS .
20 And God H430 EDP said H559 W-VQY3MS , Let the waters H4325 D-CMS bring forth abundantly H8317 VQY3MP the moving creature H8318 CMS that hath life H5315 GFS , and fowl H5775 NMS that may fly H5774 VPY3MS above H5921 PREP the earth H776 D-GFS in H5921 PREP the open H6440 CMP firmament H7549 CMS of heaven H8064 D-AMD .
21 And God H430 EDP created H1254 W-VQY3MS great H1419 D-AMP whales H8577 D-NMP , and every H3605 NMS living H2416 D-AFS creature H5315 GFS that moveth H7430 VOPFS , which H834 RPRO the waters H4325 D-CMS brought forth abundantly H8317 VQQ3MP , after their kind H4327 L-NMS-3MS , and every H3605 NMS winged H3671 GFS fowl H5775 NMS after his kind H4327 L-NMS-3MS : and God H430 EDP saw H7200 W-VIY3MS that H3588 CONJ it was good H2896 AMS .
22 And God H430 EDP blessed H1288 W-VNY3MS them , saying H559 L-VQFC , Be fruitful H6509 VQI2MP , and multiply H7235 W-VQI2MP , and fill H4390 W-VQI2MP the waters H4325 D-CMS in the seas H3220 B-NMP , and let fowl H5775 W-NMS multiply H7235 VQI3MS in the earth H776 B-GFS .
23 And the evening H6153 NUM-MS and the morning H1242 NUM-MS were H1961 W-VPY3MS the fifth H2549 ONUM day H3117 NMS .
24 And God H430 EDP said H559 , Let the earth H776 D-GFS bring forth H3318 VQI3FS the living H2416 AFS creature H5315 GFS after his kind H4327 L-CMS-3FS , cattle H929 NFS , and creeping thing H7431 W-NMS , and beast H2416 W-CFS-3MS of the earth H776 GFS after his kind H4327 L-CMS-3FS : and it was H1961 W-VPY3MS so H3651 ADV .
25 And God H430 EDP made H6213 W-VQY3MS the beast H2416 CFS of the earth H776 D-GFS after his kind H4327 L-CMS-3FS , and cattle H929 D-NFS after their kind H4327 L-CMS-3FS , and every thing H3605 NMS that creepeth H7431 CMS upon the earth H127 D-NFS after his kind H4327 L-NMS-3MS : and God H430 EDP saw H7200 W-VIY3MS that H3588 CONJ it was good H2896 AMS .
26 And God H430 EDP said H559 W-VQY3MS , Let us make H6213 VHI1MP man H120 NMS in our image H6754 B-CMS-1MP , after our likeness H1823 K-CFS-1MP : and let them have dominion H7287 W-VQI3MP over the fish H1710 B-CFS of the sea H3220 D-NMS , and over the fowl H5775 WB-CMS of the air H8064 D-NMD , and over the cattle H929 WB-NFS , and over all H3605 WB-CMS the earth H776 D-GFS , and over every H3605 WB-CMS creeping thing H7431 D-NMS that creepeth H7430 D-VQPMS upon H5921 PREP the earth H776 D-GFS .
27 So God H430 EDP created H1254 W-VQY3MS man H120 D-NMS in his own image H6754 B-CMS-3MS , in the image H6754 B-CMS of God H430 EDP created H1254 VQQ3MS he him ; male H2145 NMS and female H5347 W-NFS created H1254 VQQ3MS he them .
28 And God H430 EDP blessed H1288 W-VNY3MS them , and God H430 EDP said H559 W-VQY3MS unto them , Be fruitful H6509 VQI2MP , and multiply H7235 W-VQI2MP , and replenish H4390 W-VQI2MP the earth H776 D-GFS , and subdue H3533 W-VQI2MS-3FS it : and have dominion H7287 W-VQI2MP over the fish H1710 B-CFS of the sea H3220 D-NMS , and over the fowl H5775 WB-CMS of the air H8064 D-NMD , and over every H3605 WB-CMS living thing H2416 AFS that moveth H7430 D-VQPFS upon H5921 PREP the earth H776 D-GFS .
29 And God H430 EDP said H559 W-VQY3MS , Behold H2009 IJEC , I have given H5414 VQQ1MS you every H3605 NMS herb H6212 NMS bearing H2232 VQPMS seed H2233 NMS , which H834 RPRO is upon H5921 PREP the face H6440 CMP of all H3605 NMS the earth H776 D-GFS , and every H3605 NMS tree H6086 AMS , in the which H834 RPRO is the fruit H6529 CMS of a tree H6086 NMS yielding H2232 VQPMS seed H2233 NMS ; to you it shall be H1961 VQY3MS for meat H402 L-NFS .
30 And to every H3605 NMS beast H2416 CFS of the earth H776 D-GFS , and to every H3605 NMS fowl H5775 NMS of the air H8064 D-NMD , and to every thing H3605 NMS that creepeth H7430 VQPMS upon H5921 PREP the earth H776 D-GFS , wherein H834 RPRO there is life H5315 GFS , I have given every H3605 NMS green H3418 NMS herb H6212 NMS for meat H402 L-NFS : and it was H1961 W-VPY3MS so H3651 ADV .
31 And God H430 EDP saw H7200 W-VIY3MS every thing H3605 NMS that H834 RPRO he had made H6213 VQQ3MS , and , behold H2009 IJEC , it was very H3966 ADV good H2896 AMS . And the evening H6153 NUM-MS and the morning H1242 NUM-MS were H1961 W-VPY3MS the sixth H8345 D-ONUM day H3117 NMS .
