Matthew 1:1 (NIV) New International Version

1 A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son of David, the son of Abraham:
2 Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,
3 Judah the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar, Perez the father of Hezron, Hezron the father of Ram,
4 Ram the father of Amminadab, Amminadab the father of Nahshon, Nahshon the father of Salmon,
5 Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab, Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth, Obed the father of Jesse,
6 and Jesse the father of King David. David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah's wife,
7 Solomon the father of Rehoboam, Rehoboam the father of Abijah, Abijah the father of Asa,
8 Asa the father of Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat the father of Jehoram, Jehoram the father of Uzziah,
9 Uzziah the father of Jotham, Jotham the father of Ahaz, Ahaz the father of Hezekiah,
10 Hezekiah the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amon, Amon the father of Josiah,
11 and Josiah the father of Jeconiah and his brothers at the time of the exile to Babylon.
12 After the exile to Babylon: Jeconiah was the father of Shealtiel, Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel,
13 Zerubbabel the father of Abiud, Abiud the father of Eliakim, Eliakim the father of Azor,
14 Azor the father of Zadok, Zadok the father of Akim, Akim the father of Eliud,
15 Eliud the father of Eleazar, Eleazar the father of Matthan, Matthan the father of Jacob,
16 and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17 Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Christ.
18 This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.
19 Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.
20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."
22 All this took place to fulfil what the Lord had said through the prophet:
23 "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"-- which means, "God with us."
24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.
25 But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

17 So G3767 CONJ all G3956 A-NPF the G3588 T-NPF generations G1074 N-NPF from G575 PREP Abraham G11 N-PRI to G2193 CONJ David G1138 N-PRI are fourteen G1180 A-NPF generations G1074 N-NPF ; and G2532 CONJ from G575 PREP David G1138 N-PRI until G2193 CONJ the G3588 T-GSF carrying away G3350 N-GSF into Babylon G897 N-GSF are fourteen G1180 A-NPF generations G1074 N-NPF ; and G2532 CONJ from G575 PREP the G3588 T-GSF carrying away G3350 N-GSF into Babylon G897 N-GSF unto G2193 CONJ Christ G5547 N-GSM are fourteen G1180 A-NPF generations G1074 N-NPF .
18 Now G1161 CONJ the G3588 T-NSF birth G1083 N-NSF of Jesus G2424 N-GSM Christ G5547 N-GSM was G2258 V-IXI-3S on this wise G3779 ADV : When as G1063 CONJ his G3588 T-GSF mother G3384 N-GSF Mary G3137 N-GSF was espoused G3423 V-APP-GSF to Joseph G2501 N-PRI , before G4250 ADV they G846 P-APM came together G4905 V-2AAN , she was found with child G2147 V-API-3S of G1537 PREP the Holy G40 A-GSN Ghost G4151 N-GSN .
19 Then G1161 CONJ Joseph G2501 N-PRI her G3588 T-NSM husband G435 N-NSM , being G5607 V-PXP-NSM a just G1342 A-NSM man , and G2532 CONJ not G3361 PRT-N willing G2309 V-PAP-NSM to make her a public example G3856 V-AAN , was minded G1014 V-AOI-3S to put her away G630 V-AAN privily G2977 ADV .

21 And G1161 CONJ she shall bring forth G5088 V-FDI-3S a son G5207 N-ASM , and G2532 CONJ thou shalt call G2564 V-FAI-2S his G3588 T-ASN name G3686 N-ASN JESUS G2424 N-ASM : for G1063 CONJ he G846 P-NSM shall save G4982 V-FAI-3S his G3588 T-ASM people G2992 N-ASM from G575 PREP their G3588 T-GPF sins G266 N-GPF .
22 Now G1161 CONJ all G3650 A-NSN this G5124 D-NSN was done G1096 V-2RAI-3S , that G2443 CONJ it might be fulfilled G4137 V-APS-3S which G3588 T-NSN was spoken G4483 V-APP-NSN of G5259 PREP the G3588 T-GSM Lord G2962 N-GSM by G1223 PREP the G3588 T-GSM prophet G4396 N-GSM , saying G3004 V-PAP-GSN ,
23 Behold G2400 V-2AAM-2S , a virgin G3933 N-NSF shall be with child G1722 PREP , and G2532 CONJ shall bring forth G5088 V-FDI-3S a son G5207 N-ASM , and G2532 CONJ they shall call G2564 V-FAI-3P his G3588 T-ASN name G3686 N-ASN Emmanuel G1694 N-PRI , which G3739 R-NSN being interpreted G3177 V-PPP-NSN is G2076 V-PXI-3S , God G2316 N-NSM with G3326 PREP us G2257 P-1GP .
24 Then G1161 CONJ Joseph G2501 N-PRI being raised G1326 V-APP-NSM from G575 PREP sleep G5258 N-GSM did G4160 V-AAI-3S as G5613 ADV the G3588 T-NSM angel G32 N-NSM of the Lord G2962 N-GSM had bidden G4367 V-AAI-3S him G846 P-DSM , and G2532 CONJ took G3880 V-2AAI-3S unto him G3588 T-ASF his G3588 T-ASF wife G1135 N-ASF :
25 And G2532 CONJ knew G1097 V-IAI-3S her G846 P-ASF not G3756 PRT-N till G2193 CONJ she had brought forth G5088 V-2AAI-3S her G3588 T-ASM firstborn G4416 A-ASM son G5207 N-ASM : and G2532 CONJ he called G2564 V-AAI-3S his G3588 T-ASN name G3686 N-ASN JESUS G2424 N-ASM .
