1 পরে পঞ্চাশত্তমীর দিন উপস্থিত হইলে তাঁহারা সকলে একস্থানে সমবেত ছিলেন।
2 আর হঠাৎ আকাশ হইতে প্রচণ্ড বায়ুর বেগের শব্দবৎ একটা শব্দ আসিল, এবং যে গৃহে তাঁহারা বসিয়াছিলেন, সেই গৃহের সর্ব্বত্র ব্যাপ্ত হইল।
3 আর অংশ অংশ হইয়া পড়িতেছে, এমন অনেক অগ্নিবৎ জিহ্বা তাঁহাদের দৃষ্টিগোচর হইল; এবং তাঁহাদের প্রত্যেক জনের উপরে বসিল।
4 তাহাতে তাঁহারা সকলে পবিত্র আত্মায় পরিপূর্ণ হইলেন, এবং আত্মা তাঁহাদিগকে যেরূপ বক্তৃতা দান করিলেন, তদনুসারে অন্য অন্য ভাষায় কথা কহিতে লাগিলেন।
5 ঐ সময়ে যিহূদীরা, আকাশের নিম্নস্থিত সমস্ত জাতি হইতে আগত ভক্ত লোকেরা, যিরূশালেমে বাস করিতেছিল।
6 আর সেই ধ্বনি হইলে অনেক লোক সমাগত হইল, এবং তাহারা হতবুদ্ধি হইয়া পড়িল, কারণ প্রত্যেক জন আপন আপন ভাষায় তাঁহাদিগকে কথা কহিতে শুনিতেছিল।
7 তখন সকলে অতিশয় আশ্চর্য্যান্বিত ও চমৎকৃত হইয়া বলিতে লাগিল, দেখ, এই যে লোকেরা কথা কহিতেছে, ইহারা সকলে কি গালীলীয় নহে?
8 তবে আমরা কেমন করিয়া প্রত্যেক জন নিজ নিজ জন্মদেশীয় ভাষায় কথা শুনিতেছি?
9 পার্থীয়, মাদীয় ও এলমীয় লোক, এবং মিসপতামিয়া, যিহূদিয়া ও কাপ্পাদকিয়া, পন্ত ও আশিয়া,
10 ফরুগিয়া ও পাম্ফুলিয়া, মিসর, এবং লুবিয়া দেশস্থ কুরীণীর নিকটবর্ত্তী অঞ্চলনিবাসী, এবং প্রবাসকারী রোমীয়—কি যিহূদী কি যিহূদী-ধর্ম্মাবলম্বী লোক
11 —এবং ক্রীতীয় ও আরবীয় লোক যে আমরা, আমাদের নিজ নিজ ভাষায় উহাদিগকে ঈশ্বরের মহৎ মহৎ কর্ম্মের কথা বলিতে শুনিতেছি।
12 এইরূপে তাহারা সকলে চমৎকৃত হইল ও হতবুদ্ধি হইয়া পরস্পর বলিতে লাগিল, ইহার ভাব কি?
13 অন্য লোকেরা পরিহাস করিয়া বলিল, উহারা মিষ্ট দ্রাক্ষারসে মত্ত হইয়াছে।
14 কিন্তু পিতর এগারো জনের সহিত দাঁড়াইয়া উচ্চৈঃস্বরে তাহাদের কাছে বক্তৃতা করিয়া কহিলেন,— হে যিহূদী লোকেরা, হে যিরূশালেম নিবাসী সকলে, তোমরা ইহা জ্ঞাত হও, এবং আমার কথায় কর্ণপাত কর।
15 কেননা তোমরা যে অনুমান করিতেছ, ইহারা মত্ত, তাহা নয়, কারণ এখন বেলা তিন ঘটিকামাত্র।
16 কিন্তু এটী সেই ঘটনা, যাহার কথা যোয়েল ভাববাদী দ্বারা উক্ত হইয়াছে,
17 “শেষ কালে এইরূপ হইবে, ইহা ঈশ্বর বলিতেছেন, আমি মর্ত্ত্যমাত্রের উপরে আপন আত্মা সেচন করিব; তাহাতে তোমাদের পুত্রগণ ও তোমাদের কন্যাগণ ভাববাণী বলিবে, আর তোমাদের যুবকেরা দর্শন পাইবে, আর তোমাদের প্রাচীনেরা স্বপ্ন দেখিবে।
18 আবার আমার দাসদের উপরে এবং আমার দাসীদের উপরে সেই সময়ে আমি আমার আত্মা সেচন করিব, আর তাহারা ভাববাণী বলিবে।
19 আমি উপরে আকাশে নানা অদ্ভুত লক্ষণ এবং নীচে পৃথিবীতে নানা চিহ্ন রক্ত, অগ্নি ও ধূম-বাষ্প দেখাইব।
20 প্রভুর সেই মহৎ ও প্রসিদ্ধ দিনের আগমনের পূর্ব্বে সূর্য্য অন্ধকার হইয়া যাইবে, চন্দ্র রক্ত হইয়া যাইবে;
21 আর এইরূপ হইবে, যে কেহ প্রভুর নামে ডাকিবে, সেই পরিত্রাণ পাইবে।”
22 হে ইস্রায়েলীয়েরা, এই সকল কথা শুন। নাসরতীয় যীশু পরাক্রম-কার্য্য, অদ্ভুত লক্ষণ ও চিহ্নসমূহ দ্বারা তোমাদের নিকটে ঈশ্বর কর্ত্তৃক প্রমাণিত মনুষ্য; তাঁহারই দ্বারা ঈশ্বর তোমাদের মধ্যে ঐ সকল কার্য্য করিয়াছেন, যেমন তোমরা নিজেই জান;
23 সেই ব্যক্তি ঈশ্বরের নিরূপিত মন্ত্রণা ও পূর্ব্বজ্ঞান অনুসারে সমর্পিত হইলে তোমরা তাঁহাকে অধর্ম্মীদের হস্ত দ্বারা ক্রুশে দিয়া বধ করিয়াছিলে।
24 ঈশ্বর মৃত্যু-যন্ত্রণা মুক্ত করিয়া তাঁহাকে উঠাইয়াছেন; কেননা তাঁহাকে ধরিয়া রাখিতে মৃত্যুর সাধ্য ছিল না।
25 কারণ দায়ূদ তাঁহার বিষয়ে বলেন, “আমি প্রভুকে নিয়তই আমার সম্মুখে দেখিতাম; কারণ তিনি আমার দক্ষিণে আছেন, যেন আমি বিচলিত না হই।
26 এই জন্য আমার চিত্ত আনন্দিত ও আমার জিহ্বা উল্লাসিত হইল; আবার আমার মাংসও প্রত্যাশায় প্রবাস করিবে;
27 কারণ তুমি আমার প্রাণ পাতালে পরিত্যাগ করিবে না, আর নিজ সাধুকে ক্ষয় দেখিতে দিবে না।
28 তুমি আমাকে জীবনের পথ জ্ঞাত করিয়াছ, তোমার শ্রীমুখ দ্বারা আমাকে আনন্দে পূর্ণ করিবে।”
29 ভ্রাতৃগণ, সেই পিতৃকুলপতি দায়ূদের বিষয়ে আমি তোমাদিগকে মুক্তকণ্ঠে বলিতে পারি যে, তিনি প্রাণত্যাগ করিয়াছেন এবং কবরপ্রাপ্তও হইয়াছেন, আর তাঁহার কবর আজ পর্য্যন্ত আমাদের নিকটে রহিয়াছে।
30 ভাল, তিনি ভাববাদী ছিলেন, এবং জানিতেন, ঈশ্বর দিব্যপূর্ব্বক তাঁহার কাছে এই শপথ করিয়াছিলেন যে, তাঁহার ঔরসজাত এক জনকে তাঁহার সিংহাসনে বসাইবেন;
31 অতএব পূর্ব্ব হইতে দেখিয়া তিনি খ্রীষ্টেরই পুনরুত্থান বিষয়ে এই কথা কহিলেন যে, তাঁহাকে পাতালে পরিত্যাগও করা হয় নাই, তাঁহার মাংস ক্ষয়ও দেখে নাই।
32 এই যীশুকেই ঈশ্বর উঠাইয়াছেন, আমরা সকলেই এই বিষয়ের সাক্ষী।
33 অতএব তিনি ঈশ্বরের দক্ষিণ হস্ত দ্বারা উচ্চীকৃত হওয়াতে, এবং পিতার নিকট হইতে অঙ্গীকৃত পবিত্র আত্মা প্রাপ্ত হওয়াতে, এই যাহা তোমরা দেখিতেছ ও শুনিতেছ, তাহা তিনি সেচন করিলেন।
34 কেননা দায়ূদ স্বর্গারোহণ করেন নাই, কিন্তু আপনি এই কথা বলেন, “প্রভু আমার প্রভুকে কহিলেন, তুমি আমার দক্ষিণে বস,
35 যাবৎ আমি তোমার শত্রুগণকে তোমার পাদপীঠ না করি।”
36 অতএব ইস্রায়েলের সমস্ত কুল নিশ্চয় জ্ঞাত হউক যে, যাঁহাকে তোমরা ক্রুশে দিয়াছিলে, সেই যীশুকেই ঈশ্বর প্রভু ও খ্রীষ্ট উভয়ই করিয়াছেন।
37 এই কথা শুনিয়া তাহাদের হৃদয়ে যেন শেল বিদ্ধ হইল, এবং তাহারা পিতরকে ও অন্য প্রেরিতদিগকে বলিতে লাগিল, ভ্রাতৃগণ, আমরা কি করিব?
38 তখন পিতর তাহাদিগকে কহিলেন, মন ফিরাও, এবং তোমরা প্রত্যেক জন তোমাদের পাপমোচনের নিমিত্ত যীশু খ্রীষ্টের নামে বাপ্তাইজিত হও; তাহা হইলে পবিত্র আত্মারূপ দান প্রাপ্ত হইবে।
39 কারণ এই প্রতিজ্ঞা তোমাদের জন্য ও তোমাদের সন্তানগণের জন্য এবং দূরবর্ত্তী সকলের জন্য যত লোককে আমাদের ঈশ্বর প্রভু ডাকিয়া আনিবেন।
40 আর আর অনেক কথায় তিনি সাক্ষ্য দিলেন, ও তাহাদিগকে উপদেশ দিয়া কহিলেন, এই কালের কুটিল লোকদের হইতে আপনাদিগকে রক্ষা কর।
41 তখন যাহারা তাঁহার কথা গ্রাহ্য করিল, তাহারা বাপ্তাইজিত হইল; তাহাতে সেই দিন কমবেশ তিন হাজার লোক তাঁহাদের সহিত সংযুক্ত হইল।
42 আর তাহারা প্রেরিতদের শিক্ষায় ও সহভাগিতায়, রুটী ভাঙ্গায় ও প্রার্থনায় নিবিষ্ট থাকিল।
43 তখন সকলের ভয় উপস্থিত হইল, এবং প্রেরিতগণ কর্ত্তৃক অনেক অদ্ভুত লক্ষণ ও চিহ্ন-কার্য্য সাধিত হইত।
44 আর যাহারা বিশ্বাস করিল, তাহারা সকলে একসঙ্গে সমস্তই সাধারণে রাখিত;
45 আর স্থাবর অস্থাবর সম্পত্তি বিক্রয় করিয়া, যাহার যেমন প্রয়োজন, তদনুসারে সকলকে অংশ করিয়া দিত।
46 আর তাহারা প্রতিদিন একচিত্তে ধর্ম্মধামে নিবিষ্ট থাকিয়া এবং বাটীতে রুটী ভাঙ্গিয়া উল্লাসে ও হৃদয়ের সরলতায় খাদ্য গ্রহণ করিত;
47 তাহারা ঈশ্বরের প্রশংসা করিত, এবং সমস্ত লোকের প্রীতির পাত্র হইল। আর যাহারা পরিত্রাণ পাইতেছিল, প্রভু দিন দিন তাহাদিগকে তাহাদের সহিত সংযুক্ত করিতেন।
