1 তুমি ডাক দেখি, কেহ কি তোমাকে উত্তর দিবে? পবিত্রগণের মধ্যে তুমি কাহার শরণ লইবে?
2 কারণ মনস্তাপ অজ্ঞানকে নষ্ট করে, ঈর্ষা নির্বোধকে বিনাশ করে।
3 আমি অজ্ঞানকে বদ্ধমূল দেখিয়াছিলাম। তৎক্ষণাৎ তাহার গৃহকে শাপ দিয়াছিলাম।
4 তাহার সন্তানগণ নিস্তার হইতে দূরীকৃত, তাহারা নগরদ্বারে বিমর্দ্দিত হয়, উদ্ধারকারী কেহ নাই।
5 ক্ষুধিত লোক তাহার শস্য খাইয়া ফেলে, কন্টকের বেড়া ভাঙ্গিয়া তাহা হরণ করে, ফাঁদ তাহার সম্পত্তি গ্রাস করে।
6 কারণ ধূলি হইতে কষ্ট উৎপন্ন হয় না। মৃত্তিকা হইতে আয়াস জন্মে না;
7 কিন্তু অগ্নির স্ফুলিঙ্গ যেমন ঊর্দ্ধে উঠে, তেমনি মনুষ্য আয়াসের নিমিত্ত জন্মে।
8 কিন্তু আমি ত সদাপ্রভুর অন্বেষণ করিতাম, আপনার নিবেদন ঈশ্বরে সমর্পণ করিতাম।
9 তিনি মহৎ মহৎ কর্ম্ম করেন, যাহার সন্ধান করা যায় না, আশ্চর্য্য ক্রিয়া করেন, যাহার সংখ্যা নাই।
10 তিনি ভূতলে বৃষ্টি প্রদান করেন, তিনি জনপদের উপরে জল বহান।
11 তিনি নীচ লোকদিগকে উচ্চ করেন, শোকার্ত্তেরা ত্রাণ দ্বারা উন্নত হয়।
12 তিনি ধূর্ত্তদের কল্পনা ব্যর্থ করেন, তাহাদের হস্ত সঙ্কল্প সাধন করিতে পারে না।
13 তিনি জ্ঞানীদিগকে তাহাদের ধূর্ত্ততায় ধরেন, কুটিলমনাদের মন্ত্রণা আশু বিফল হইয়া পড়ে।
14 তাহারা দিবসে অন্ধকারে ভ্রমণ করে, মধ্যাহ্নে রাত্রিকালের ন্যায় হাঁতড়িয়া বেড়ায়।
15 কিন্তু তিনি খড়্‌গ হইতে, উহাদের কবল হইতে, পরাক্রমীদের হস্ত হইতে, দরিদ্রকে নিস্তার করেন।
16 এই কারণ-দীনহীন আশাযুক্ত হয়, অধর্ম্ম নিজ মুখ বদ্ধ করে।
17 দেখ, ধন্য সেই ব্যক্তি, যাহাকে ঈশ্বর অনুযোগ করেন, অতএব তুমি সর্ব্বশক্তিমানের দত্ত শাস্তি তুচ্ছ করিও না।
18 কেননা তিনি ক্ষত করেন, তিনি বাঁধিয়া দেন, তিনি আঘাত করেন, তাঁহারই হস্ত সুস্থ করে।
19 তিনি ছয় সঙ্কট হইতে তোমাকে উদ্ধার করিবেন, সপ্ত সঙ্কটে অমঙ্গল তোমাকে স্পর্শ করিবে না।
20 তিনি তোমাকে দুর্ভিক্ষ সময়ে মৃত্যু হইতে, যুদ্ধের সময়ে খড়্‌গধার হইতে মুক্ত করিবেন।
21 জিহ্বার কশাঘাত হইতে তুমি গুপ্ত থাকিবে, বিনাশ আসিলে তোমার শঙ্কা হইবে না।
22 বিনাশ ও দুর্ভিক্ষে তুমি হাসিবে, বন্যপশুদের হইতে তোমার শঙ্কা হইবে না।
23 কারণ মাঠের প্রস্তরের সহিত তোমার সন্ধি হইবে, মাঠের পশুগণ তোমার সহিত শান্তিতে থাকিবে।
24 আর তুমি জানিবে, তোমার তাম্বু শান্তিযুক্ত, তুমি তোমার নিবাসের তত্ত্ব করিলে দেখিবে, কিছুই হারায় নাই।
25 তুমি জানিবে, তোমার বংশ বহুসংখ্যক হইবে, তোমার সন্তানসন্ততি ভূমির তৃণের ন্যায় হইবে।
26 যেমন যথাসময়ে শস্যের আটি তুলিয়া লওয়া যায়, তদ্রূপ তুমি সম্পূর্ণায়ু হইয়া কবর প্রাপ্ত হইবে।
27 দেখ, আমরা অনুসন্ধান করিয়াছি; ইহা নিশ্চিত; তুমি ইহা শুন, আপনার জন্য জানিয়া রাখ।
