5. அப்பொழுது தாவீது, அச்செய்தியைக் கொண்டுவந்த வாலிபனிடம், “சவுலும் அவன் மகன் யோனத்தானும் இறந்தது உனக்கு எப்படித் தெரியும்?” எனக் கேட்டான். PEPS

15. உடனே தாவீது தன் ஆட்களில் ஒருவனை கூப்பிட்டு, “அவனைக் கொலைசெய்” என்றான். அவ்வாறே பணியாள் அவனைக் கொன்றான்.

16. அப்பொழுது தாவீது அவனிடம், “உன் இரத்தப்பழி உன்னுடைய தலைமேல் இருக்கட்டும். ஏனெனில், ‘யெகோவாவினால் அபிஷேகம் செய்யப்பட்டவரை நான் கொன்றேன்’ என உன் வாயே உனக்கெதிராய் சாட்சி சொன்னது” என்றான். PS

பனியும், மழையும் உங்களுக்கு இல்லாமல் போவதாக.
வயல்கள் தானிய காணிக்கைகளைக் கொடுக்காமல் போவதாக.
அங்கு தானே வல்லவர்களின் கேடயம் கறைப்பட்டது.
சவுலின் கேடயம் இனி ஒருபோதும் எண்ணெய் பூசப்படுவதில்லை.

23. வாழும்போது சவுலும் யோனத்தானும்
அன்புக்குரியவர்களும், மதிப்புக்குரியவர்களுமாய் இருந்தார்கள்.
சாவிலும் அவர்கள் பிரியவில்லை.
அவர்கள் கழுகுகளைவிட வேகமாய் பறந்தார்கள்.
சிங்கங்களிலும் வலிமையுள்ளவர்களாய் இருந்தார்கள்.

25. “போர்க்களத்தில் வலியவர்கள் விழுந்தார்களே!
யோனத்தான் உங்கள் மேடுகளில் கொலையுண்டு கிடக்கிறான்.

26. என் சகோதரன் யோனத்தானே!
உனக்காக நான் துக்கப்படுகிறேன்;
