Exodus 29:1 (NRSV) New Revised Standard Version

1 Now this is what you shall do to them to consecrate them, so that they may serve me as priests. Take one young bull and two rams without blemish,
2 and unleavened bread, unleavened cakes mixed with oil, and unleavened wafers spread with oil. You shall make them of choice wheat flour.
3 You shall put them in one basket and bring them in the basket, and bring the bull and the two rams.
4 You shall bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the tent of meeting, and wash them with water.
5 Then you shall take the vestments, and put on Aaron the tunic and the robe of the ephod, and the ephod, and the breastpiece, and gird him with the decorated band of the ephod;
6 and you shall set the turban on his head, and put the holy diadem on the turban.
7 You shall take the anointing oil, and pour it on his head and anoint him.
8 Then you shall bring his sons, and put tunics on them,
9 and you shall gird them with sashes and tie headdresses on them; and the priesthood shall be theirs by a perpetual ordinance. You shall then ordain Aaron and his sons.
10 You shall bring the bull in front of the tent of meeting. Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on the head of the bull,
11 and you shall slaughter the bull before the LORD, at the entrance of the tent of meeting,
12 and shall take some of the blood of the bull and put it on the horns of the altar with your finger, and all the rest of the blood you shall pour out at the base of the altar.
13 You shall take all the fat that covers the entrails, and the appendage of the liver, and the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, and turn them into smoke on the altar.
14 But the flesh of the bull, and its skin, and its dung, you shall burn with fire outside the camp; it is a sin offering.
15 Then you shall take one of the rams, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on the head of the ram,
16 and you shall slaughter the ram, and shall take its blood and dash it against all sides of the altar.
17 Then you shall cut the ram into its parts, and wash its entrails and its legs, and put them with its parts and its head,
18 and turn the whole ram into smoke on the altar; it is a burnt offering to the LORD; it is a pleasing odor, an offering by fire to the LORD.
19 You shall take the other ram; and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on the head of the ram,
20 and you shall slaughter the ram, and take some of its blood and put it on the lobe of Aaron's right ear and on the lobes of the right ears of his sons, and on the thumbs of their right hands, and on the big toes of their right feet, and dash the rest of the blood against all sides of the altar.
21 Then you shall take some of the blood that is on the altar, and some of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it on Aaron and his vestments and on his sons and his sons' vestments with him; then he and his vestments shall be holy, as well as his sons and his sons' vestments.
22 You shall also take the fat of the ram, the fat tail, the fat that covers the entrails, the appendage of the liver, the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, and the right thigh (for it is a ram of ordination),
23 and one loaf of bread, one cake of bread made with oil, and one wafer, out of the basket of unleavened bread that is before the LORD;
24 and you shall place all these on the palms of Aaron and on the palms of his sons, and raise them as an elevation offering before the LORD.
25 Then you shall take them from their hands, and turn them into smoke on the altar on top of the burnt offering of pleasing odor before the LORD; it is an offering by fire to the LORD.
26 You shall take the breast of the ram of Aaron's ordination and raise it as an elevation offering before the LORD; and it shall be your portion.
27 You shall consecrate the breast that was raised as an elevation offering and the thigh that was raised as an elevation offering from the ram of ordination, from that which belonged to Aaron and his sons.
28 These things shall be a perpetual ordinance for Aaron and his sons from the Israelites, for this is an offering; and it shall be an offering by the Israelites from their sacrifice of offerings of well-being, their offering to the LORD.
29 The sacred vestments of Aaron shall be passed on to his sons after him; they shall be anointed in them and ordained in them.
30 The son who is priest in his place shall wear them seven days, when he comes into the tent of meeting to minister in the holy place.
31 You shall take the ram of ordination, and boil its flesh in a holy place;
32 and Aaron and his sons shall eat the flesh of the ram and the bread that is in the basket, at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
33 They themselves shall eat the food by which atonement is made, to ordain and consecrate them, but no one else shall eat of them, because they are holy.
34 If any of the flesh for the ordination, or of the bread, remains until the morning, then you shall burn the remainder with fire; it shall not be eaten, because it is holy.
35 Thus you shall do to Aaron and to his sons, just as I have commanded you; through seven days you shall ordain them.
36 Also every day you shall offer a bull as a sin offering for atonement. Also you shall offer a sin offering for the altar, when you make atonement for it, and shall anoint it, to consecrate it.
37 Seven days you shall make atonement for the altar, and consecrate it, and the altar shall be most holy; whatever touches the altar shall become holy.
38 Now this is what you shall offer on the altar: two lambs a year old regularly each day.
39 One lamb you shall offer in the morning, and the other lamb you shall offer in the evening;
40 and with the first lamb one-tenth of a measure of choice flour mixed with one-fourth of a hin of beaten oil, and one-fourth of a hin of wine for a drink offering.
41 And the other lamb you shall offer in the evening, and shall offer with it a grain offering and its drink offering, as in the morning, for a pleasing odor, an offering by fire to the LORD.
42 It shall be a regular burnt offering throughout your generations at the entrance of the tent of meeting before the LORD, where I will meet with you, to speak to you there.
43 I will meet with the Israelites there, and it shall be sanctified by my glory;
44 I will consecrate the tent of meeting and the altar; Aaron also and his sons I will consecrate, to serve me as priests.
45 I will dwell among the Israelites, and I will be their God.
46 And they shall know that I am the LORD their God, who brought them out of the land of Egypt that I might dwell among them; I am the LORD their God.

3 And thou shalt put H5414 them into H5921 PREP one H259 MMS basket H5536 , and bring H7126 them in the basket H5536 , with the bullock H6499 and the two H8147 ONUM rams H352 .
4 And Aaron H175 and his sons H1121 CMP-3MS thou shalt bring H7126 unto H413 PREP the door H6607 CMS of the tabernacle H168 NMS of the congregation H4150 NMS , and shalt wash H7364 them with water H4325 .
5 And thou shalt take H3947 the garments H899 , and put upon H3847 Aaron H175 the coat H3801 , and the robe H4598 of the ephod H646 , and the ephod H646 , and the breastplate H2833 , and gird H640 him with the curious girdle H2805 of the ephod H646 :
6 And thou shalt put H7760 the miter H4701 upon H5921 PREP his head H7218 CMS-3MS , and put H5414 the holy H6944 crown H5145 upon H5921 PREP the miter H4701 .
7 Then shalt thou take H3947 the anointing H4888 oil H8081 NMS , and pour H3332 it upon H5921 PREP his head H7218 CMS-3MS , and anoint H4886 him .
8 And thou shalt bring H7126 his sons H1121 CMP-3MS , and put coats upon H3847 them .
9 And thou shalt gird H2296 them with girdles H73 , Aaron H175 and his sons H1121 W-CMP-3MS , and put H2280 the bonnets H4021 on them : and the priest\'s office H3550 shall be H1961 W-VQQ3FS theirs for a perpetual H5769 NMS statute H2708 : and thou shalt consecrate H4390 Aaron H175 and his sons H1121 .
10 And thou shalt cause a bullock H6499 to be brought H7126 before H6440 L-CMP the tabernacle H168 NMS of the congregation H4150 NMS : and Aaron H175 and his sons H1121 W-CMP-3MS shall put H5564 their hands H3027 CFD-3MP upon H5921 PREP the head H7218 NMS of the bullock H6499 .
11 And thou shalt kill H7819 the bullock H6499 before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS , by the door H6607 CMS of the tabernacle H168 NMS of the congregation H4150 .
12 And thou shalt take H3947 of the blood H1818 of the bullock H6499 , and put H5414 it upon H5921 PREP the horns H7161 of the altar H4196 D-NMS with thy finger H676 , and pour H8210 all H3605 NMS the blood H1818 beside H413 PREP the bottom H3247 of the altar H4196 .
13 And thou shalt take H3947 all H3605 NMS the fat H2459 that covereth H3680 the inwards H7130 , and the caul H3508 that is above H5921 PREP the liver H3516 , and the two H8147 ONUM kidneys H3629 , and the fat H2459 that H834 RPRO is upon H5921 PREP them , and burn H6999 them upon the altar H4196 .
14 But the flesh H1320 CMS of the bullock H6499 , and his skin H5785 , and his dung H6569 , shalt thou burn H8313 with fire H784 without H2351 the camp H4264 : it H1931 PPRO-3MS is a sin offering H2403 CFS .
15 Thou shalt also take H3947 one H259 ram H352 ; and Aaron H175 and his sons H1121 W-CMP-3MS shall put H5564 their hands H3027 CFD-3MP upon H5921 PREP the head H7218 NMS of the ram H352 .
16 And thou shalt slay H7819 the ram H352 , and thou shalt take H3947 his blood H1818 CMS-3MS , and sprinkle H2236 it round about H5439 upon H5921 PREP the altar H4196 D-NMS .
17 And thou shalt cut H5408 the ram H352 in pieces H5409 , and wash H7364 the inwards H7130 of him , and his legs H3767 , and put H5414 them unto H5921 PREP his pieces H5409 , and unto H5921 PREP his head H7218 CMP-3MS .
18 And thou shalt burn H6999 the whole H3605 NMS ram H352 upon the altar H4196 : it H1931 PPRO-3MS is a burnt offering H5930 unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS : it is a sweet H5207 savor H7381 CMS , an offering made by fire H801 unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS .
19 And thou shalt take H3947 the other H8145 D-ONUM ram H352 ; and Aaron H175 and his sons H1121 W-CMP-3MS shall put H5564 their hands H3027 CFD-3MP upon H5921 PREP the head H7218 NMS of the ram H352 .
20 Then shalt thou kill H7819 the ram H352 , and take H3947 of his blood H1818 , and put H5414 it upon H5921 PREP the tip H8571 of the right ear H241 NFS of Aaron H175 , and upon H5921 PREP the tip H8571 of the right H3233 ear H241 NFS of his sons H1121 CMP-3MS , and upon H5921 PREP the thumb H931 of their right H3233 hand H3027 , and upon H5921 PREP the great toe H931 of their right H3233 foot H7272 , and sprinkle H2236 the blood H1818 upon H5921 PREP the altar H4196 D-NMS round about H5439 .
21 And thou shalt take H3947 of H4480 PREP the blood H1818 that H834 RPRO is upon H5921 PREP the altar H4196 D-NMS , and of the anointing oil H8081 , and sprinkle H5137 it upon H5921 PREP Aaron H175 , and upon H5921 W-PREP his garments H899 , and upon H5921 W-PREP his sons H1121 CMP-3MS , and upon H5921 W-PREP the garments H899 of his sons H1121 CMP-3MS with H854 PREP-3MS him : and he H1931 PPRO-3MS shall be hallowed H6942 , and his garments H899 , and his sons H1121 W-CMP-3MS , and his sons H1121 CMP-3MS \' garments H899 W-CMP with H854 PREP-3MS him .
22 Also thou shalt take H3947 of H4480 PREP the ram H352 the fat H2459 and the rump H451 , and the fat H2459 that covereth H3680 the inwards H7130 , and the caul H3508 above the liver H3516 , and the two H8147 ONUM kidneys H3629 , and the fat H2459 that H834 RPRO is upon H5921 them , and the right H3225 D-NFS shoulder H7785 ; for H3588 CONJ it H1931 PPRO-3MS is a ram H352 of consecration H4394 :
23 And one H259 OFS loaf H3603 of bread H3899 NMS , and one H259 OFS cake H2471 of oiled H8081 NMS bread H3899 NMS , and one H259 MMS wafer H7550 out of the basket H5536 of the unleavened bread H4682 that H834 RPRO is before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS :
24 And thou shalt put H7760 all H3605 in H5921 PREP the hands H3709 of Aaron H175 , and in H5921 PREP the hands H3709 of his sons H1121 CMP-3MS ; and shalt wave H5130 them for a wave offering H8573 before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
25 And thou shalt receive H3947 them of their hands H3027 , and burn H6999 them upon the altar H4196 for H5921 PREP a burnt offering H5930 , for a sweet H5207 savor H7381 before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS : it H1931 PPRO-3MS is an offering made by fire H801 unto the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
26 And thou shalt take H3947 the breast H2373 of the ram H352 of Aaron H175 \'s consecration H4394 , and wave H5130 it for a wave offering H8573 before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS : and it shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS thy part H4490 .
27 And thou shalt sanctify H6942 the breast H2373 of the wave offering H8573 , and the shoulder H7785 of the heave offering H8641 , which H834 RPRO is waved H5130 , and which H834 RPRO is heaved up H7311 , of the ram H352 of the consecration H4394 , even of that which H834 RPRO is for Aaron H175 , and of that which H834 RPRO is for his sons H1121 :
28 And it shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS Aaron H175 \'s and his sons H1121 \' by a statute H2706 forever H5769 NMS from the children H1121 of Israel H3478 : for H3588 CONJ it H1931 PPRO-3MS is a heave offering H8641 : and it shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS a heave offering H8641 from the children H1121 of Israel H3478 of the sacrifice H2077 of their peace offerings H8002 , even their heave offering H8641 unto the LORD H3068 .
29 And the holy H6944 garments H899 W-CMP of Aaron H175 shall be H1961 VQY3MP his sons H1121 L-CMP-3MS \' after H310 PREP-3MS him , to be anointed H4886 therein , and to be consecrated H4390 in them .
30 And that son H1121 that is priest H3548 in his stead H8478 PREP-3MS shall put them on H3847 seven H7651 RMS days H3117 NMP , when H834 RPRO he cometh H935 VQY3MS into H413 PREP the tabernacle H168 NMS of the congregation H4150 NMS to minister H8334 in the holy H6944 place .
31 And thou shalt take H3947 the ram H352 of the consecration H4394 , and seethe H1310 his flesh H1320 CMS-3MS in the holy H6918 place H4725 .
32 And Aaron H175 and his sons H1121 W-CMP-3MS shall eat H398 W-VQQ3MS the flesh H1320 CMS of the ram H352 , and the bread H3899 that H834 RPRO is in the basket H5536 , by the door H6607 CMS of the tabernacle H168 NMS of the congregation H4150 .
33 And they shall eat H398 those things wherewith H834 RPRO the atonement was made H3722 , to consecrate H4390 L-VPFC and to sanctify H6942 them : but a stranger H2114 shall not H3808 NADV eat H398 VQY3MS thereof , because H3588 CONJ they H1992 are holy H6944 .
34 And if H518 aught of the flesh H1320 of the consecrations H4394 , or of H4480 W-PREP the bread H3899 , remain H3498 unto H5704 PREP the morning H1242 , then thou shalt burn H8313 the remainder H3498 with fire H784 : it shall not H3808 NADV be eaten H398 , because H3588 CONJ it H1931 PPRO-3MS is holy H6944 .
35 And thus H3602 ADV shalt thou do H6213 unto Aaron H175 , and to his sons H1121 , according to all H3605 K-NMS things which H834 RPRO I have commanded H6680 thee : seven H7651 RMS days H3117 NMP shalt thou consecrate H4390 them .
36 And thou shalt offer H6213 VQY2MS every day H3117 a bullock H6499 for a sin offering H2403 CFS for H5921 PREP atonement H3725 : and thou shalt cleanse H2398 the altar H4196 D-NMS , when thou hast made an atonement H3722 for H5921 PREP it , and thou shalt anoint H4886 it , to sanctify H6942 it .
37 Seven H7651 RMS days H3117 NMP thou shalt make an atonement H3722 for H5921 PREP the altar H4196 D-NMS , and sanctify H6942 it ; and it shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS an altar H4196 D-NMS most holy H6944 : whatsoever H3605 NMS toucheth H5060 the altar H4196 shall be holy H6942 .
38 Now this H2088 W-PMS is that which H834 RPRO thou shalt offer H6213 VQY2MS upon H5921 PREP the altar H4196 D-NMS ; two H8147 ONUM lambs H3532 of the first H1121 year H8141 NFS day by day H3117 continually H8548 .
39 The one H259 lamb H3532 thou shalt offer H6213 VQY2MS in the morning H1242 ; and the other H8145 D-ONUM lamb H3532 thou shalt offer H6213 VQY2MS at H996 PREP even H6153 :
40 And with the one H259 lamb H3532 a tenth deal H6241 of flour H5560 mingled H1101 with the fourth part H7253 of a hin H1969 of beaten H3795 oil H8081 ; and the fourth part H7243 of a hin H1969 of wine H3196 for a drink offering H5262 .
41 And the other H8145 D-ONUM lamb H3532 thou shalt offer H6213 VQY2MS at H996 PREP even H6153 , and shalt do H6213 VQY2MS thereto according to the meat offering H4503 of the morning H1242 , and according to the drink offering H5262 thereof , for a sweet H5207 savor H7381 , an offering made by fire H801 unto the LORD H3068 .
42 This shall be a continual H8548 burnt offering H5930 throughout your generations H1755 at the door H6607 CMS of the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 NMS before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS : where H834 RPRO I will meet H3259 you , to speak H1696 there H8033 ADV-3FS unto H413 PREP-2MS thee .
43 And there H8033 ADV-3FS I will meet H3259 with the children H1121 L-CMP of Israel H3478 , and the tabernacle shall be sanctified H6942 by my glory H3519 .
44 And I will sanctify H6942 the tabernacle H168 NMS of the congregation H4150 NMS , and the altar H4196 D-NMS : I will sanctify H6942 also both Aaron H175 and his sons H1121 CMP-3MS , to minister to me in the priest\'s office H3547 .
45 And I will dwell H7931 among H8432 B-NMS the children H1121 of Israel H3478 , and will be H1961 their God H430 L-NMP .
46 And they shall know H3045 that H3588 CONJ I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 EDS their God H430 , that H834 RPRO brought them forth out of the land H776 M-NFS of Egypt H4714 EFS , that I may dwell H7931 among H8432 them : I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 EDS their God H430 .
