Revelation 12:1 (NRSV) New Revised Standard Version

1 A great portent appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.
2 She was pregnant and was crying out in birth pangs, in the agony of giving birth.
3 Then another portent appeared in heaven: a great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads.
4 His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. Then the dragon stood before the woman who was about to bear a child, so that he might devour her child as soon as it was born.
5 And she gave birth to a son, a male child, who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron. But her child was snatched away and taken to God and to his throne;
6 and the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, so that there she can be nourished for one thousand two hundred sixty days.
7 And war broke out in heaven; Michael and his angels fought against the dragon. The dragon and his angels fought back,
8 but they were defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven.
9 The great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world-- he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, proclaiming, "Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Messiah, for the accuser of our comrades has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.
11 But they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they did not cling to life even in the face of death.
12 Rejoice then, you heavens and those who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, for the devil has come down to you with great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!"
13 So when the dragon saw that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child.
14 But the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle, so that she could fly from the serpent into the wilderness, to her place where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time.
15 Then from his mouth the serpent poured water like a river after the woman, to sweep her away with the flood.
16 But the earth came to the help of the woman; it opened its mouth and swallowed the river that the dragon had poured from his mouth.
17 Then the dragon was angry with the woman, and went off to make war on the rest of her children, those who keep the commandments of God and hold the testimony of Jesus.
18 Then the dragon took his stand on the sand of the seashore.

2 And G2532 CONJ she being with child G1722 PREP cried G2896 V-IAI-3S , travailing in birth G5605 V-PAP-NSF , and G2532 CONJ pained G928 V-PPP-NSF to be delivered G5088 V-2AAN .
3 And G2532 CONJ there appeared G3700 V-API-3S another G243 A-NSN wonder G4592 N-NSN in G1722 PREP heaven G3772 N-DSM ; and G2532 CONJ behold G2400 V-2AAM-2S a great G3173 A-NSM red G4450 A-NSM dragon G1404 N-NSM , having G2192 V-PAP-NSM seven G2033 A-NUI heads G2776 N-APF and G2532 CONJ ten G1176 A-NUI horns G2768 N-APN , and G2532 CONJ seven G2033 A-NUI crowns G1238 N-APN upon G1909 PREP his G3588 T-APF heads G2776 N-APF .
4 And G2532 CONJ his G3588 T-NSF tail G3769 N-NSF drew G4951 V-PAI-3S the G3588 T-ASN third part G5154 A-ASN of G3588 T-GPM the G3588 T-GPM stars G792 N-GPM of heaven G3772 N-GSM , and G2532 CONJ did cast G906 V-2AAI-3S them G846 P-GSM to G1519 PREP the G3588 T-ASF earth G1093 N-ASF : and G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NSM dragon G1404 N-NSM stood G2476 V-RAI-3S before G1799 ADV the G3588 T-GSF woman G1135 N-GSF which was ready G3195 V-PAP-GSF to be delivered G5088 V-2AAN , for to G2443 CONJ devour G2719 V-2AAS-3S her G3588 T-ASN child G5043 N-ASN as soon as G3752 CONJ it was born G5088 V-2AAS-3S .
5 And G2532 CONJ she brought forth G5088 V-2AAI-3S a man G730 N-ASM child G5207 N-ASM , who G3739 R-NSM was G3195 V-PAI-3S to rule G4165 V-PAN all G3956 A-APN nations G1484 N-APN with G1722 PREP a rod G4464 N-DSF of iron G4603 A-DSF : and G2532 CONJ her G3588 T-NSN child G5043 N-NSN was caught up G726 V-API-3S unto G4314 PREP God G2316 N-ASM , and G2532 CONJ to his G3588 T-ASM throne G2362 N-ASM .
6 And G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NSF woman G1135 N-NSF fled G5343 V-2AAI-3S into G1519 PREP the G3588 T-ASF wilderness G2048 A-ASF , where G3699 ADV she hath G2192 V-PAI-3S a place G5117 N-ASM prepared G2090 V-RPP-ASM of G3588 T-GSM God G2316 N-GSM , that G2443 CONJ they should feed G5142 her G846 P-ASF there G1563 ADV a thousand two hundred and threescore G1835 A-NUI days G2250 N-APF .
7 And G2532 CONJ there was G1096 V-2ADI-3S war G4171 N-NSM in G1722 PREP heaven G3772 N-DSM : Michael G3413 N-PRI and G2532 CONJ his G3588 T-NPM angels G32 N-NPM fought G4170 V-AAN against G2596 the G3588 T-GSM dragon G1404 N-GSM ; and G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NSM dragon G1404 N-NSM fought G4170 V-AAI-3S and G2532 CONJ his G3588 T-NPM angels G32 N-NPM ,
8 And G2532 CONJ prevailed G2480 V-AAI-3S not G3756 PRT-N ; neither G3777 was their G848 place G5117 N-NSM found G2147 V-API-3S any more G2089 ADV in G1722 PREP heaven G3772 N-DSM .
9 And G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NSM great G3173 A-NSM dragon G1404 N-NSM was cast out G906 V-API-3S , that G3588 T-NSM old G744 A-NSM serpent G3789 N-NSM , called G2564 V-PPP-NSM the Devil G1228 A-NSM , and G2532 CONJ Satan G4567 N-NSM , which deceiveth G4105 V-PAP-NSM the G3588 T-NSM whole G3650 A-ASF world G3625 N-ASF : he was cast out G906 V-API-3S into G1519 PREP the G3588 T-ASF earth G1093 N-ASF , and G2532 CONJ his G3588 T-NPM angels G32 N-NPM were cast out G906 V-API-3P with G3326 PREP him G846 P-GSM .
10 And G2532 CONJ I heard G191 V-AAI-1S a loud G3173 A-ASF voice G5456 N-ASF saying G3004 V-PAP-ASF in G1722 PREP heaven G3772 N-DSM , Now G737 ADV is come G1096 V-2ADI-3S salvation G4991 N-NSF , and G2532 CONJ strength G1411 N-NSF , and G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NSF kingdom G932 N-NSF of G3588 T-GSM our G3588 T-GSM God G2316 N-GSM , and G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NSF power G1849 N-NSF of G3588 T-GSM his G3588 T-GSM Christ G5547 N-GSM : for G3754 CONJ the G3588 T-NSM accuser G2725 N-NSM of G3588 T-GPM our G3588 T-GPM brethren G80 N-GPM is cast down G2598 , which accused G2723 V-PAP-NSM them G846 P-GSM before G1799 ADV our G3588 T-GSM God G2316 N-GSM day G2250 N-GSF and G2532 CONJ night G3571 N-GSF .
11 And G2532 CONJ they G846 P-NPM overcame G3528 V-AAI-3P him G846 P-ASM by G1223 PREP the G3588 T-ASN blood G129 N-ASN of G3588 T-GSN the G3588 T-GSN Lamb G721 N-GSN , and G2532 CONJ by G1223 PREP the G3588 T-ASM word G3056 N-ASM of G3588 T-GSF their G3588 T-GSF testimony G3141 N-GSF ; and G2532 CONJ they loved G25 V-AAI-3P not G3756 PRT-N their G3588 T-ASF lives G5590 N-ASF unto G891 PREP the death G2288 N-GSM .
12 Therefore G1223 PREP rejoice G2165 V-PPM-2P , ye heavens G3772 N-NPM , and G2532 CONJ ye G3588 T-NPM that G3588 T-NPM dwell G4637 V-PAP-NPM in G1722 PREP them G846 P-DPM . Woe G3759 INJ to the G3588 T-NPM inhabitants G2730 of G3588 T-DSF the G3588 T-DSF earth G1093 N-DSF and G2532 CONJ of G3588 T-DSF the G3588 T-DSF sea G2281 N-DSF ! for G3754 CONJ the G3588 T-NSM devil G1228 A-NSM is come down G2597 V-2AAI-3S unto G4314 PREP you G5209 P-2AP , having G2192 V-PAP-NSM great G3173 A-ASM wrath G2372 N-ASM , because he knoweth G1492 V-RAP-NSM that G3754 CONJ he hath G2192 V-PAI-3S but a short G3641 A-ASM time G2540 N-ASM .
13 And G2532 CONJ when G3753 ADV the G3588 T-NSM dragon G1404 N-NSM saw G1492 V-2AAI-3S that G3754 CONJ he was cast G906 V-API-3S unto G1519 PREP the G3588 T-ASF earth G1093 N-ASF , he persecuted G1377 V-AAI-3S the G3588 T-ASF woman G1135 N-ASF which G3748 R-NSF brought forth G5088 V-2AAI-3S the G3588 T-ASM man G730 N-ASM child .
14 And G2532 CONJ to the G3588 T-DSF woman G1135 N-DSF were given G1325 V-API-3P two G1417 A-NUI wings G4420 N-NPF of G3588 T-GSM a great G3173 A-GSM eagle G105 N-GSM , that G2443 CONJ she might fly G4072 V-PNS-3S into G1519 PREP the G3588 T-ASF wilderness G2048 A-ASF , into G1519 PREP her G3588 T-ASM place G5117 N-ASM , where G3699 she is nourished G5142 V-PPS-3S for G1563 ADV a time G2540 N-ASM , and G2532 CONJ times G2540 N-APM , and G2532 CONJ half G2255 A-ASN a time G2540 N-GSM , from G575 PREP the face G4383 N-GSN of G3588 T-GSM the G3588 T-GSM serpent G3789 N-GSM .
15 And G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NSM serpent G3789 N-NSM cast G906 V-2AAI-3S out of G1537 PREP his G3588 T-GSN mouth G4750 N-GSN water G5204 N-ASN as G5613 ADV a flood G4215 N-ASM after G3694 ADV the G3588 T-GSF woman G1135 N-GSF , that G2443 CONJ he might cause G4160 V-AAS-3S her G5026 to be carried away of the flood G4216 A-ASF .
16 And G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NSF earth G1093 N-NSF helped G997 V-AAI-3S the G3588 T-DSF woman G1135 N-DSF , and G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NSF earth G1093 N-NSF opened G455 V-AAI-3S her G3588 T-ASN mouth G4750 N-ASN , and G2532 CONJ swallowed up G2666 V-2AAI-3S the G3588 T-ASM flood G4215 N-ASM which G3739 R-ASM the G3588 T-NSM dragon G1404 N-NSM cast G906 V-2AAI-3S out of G1537 PREP his G3588 T-GSN mouth G4750 N-GSN .
17 And G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NSM dragon G1404 N-NSM was wroth G3710 V-API-3S with G1909 PREP the G3588 T-DSF woman G1135 N-DSF , and G2532 CONJ went G565 V-2AAI-3S to make G4160 V-AAN war G4171 N-ASM with G3326 PREP the G3588 T-GPN remnant G3062 A-GPN of G3588 T-GSN her G3588 T-GSN seed G4690 N-GSN , which keep G5083 V-PAP-GPM the G3588 T-APF commandments G1785 N-APF of God G2316 N-GSM , and G2532 CONJ have G2192 V-PAP-GPM the G3588 T-ASF testimony G3141 N-ASF of Jesus G2424 N-GSM Christ G5547 .
