Numbers 15:1 (NRSV) New Revised Standard Version

1 The LORD spoke to Moses, saying:
2 Speak to the Israelites and say to them: When you come into the land you are to inhabit, which I am giving you,
3 and you make an offering by fire to the LORD from the herd or from the flock-- whether a burnt offering or a sacrifice, to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering or at your appointed festivals-- to make a pleasing odor for the LORD,
4 then whoever presents such an offering to the LORD shall present also a grain offering, one-tenth of an ephah of choice flour, mixed with one-fourth of a hin of oil.
5 Moreover, you shall offer one-fourth of a hin of wine as a drink offering with the burnt offering or the sacrifice, for each lamb.
6 For a ram, you shall offer a grain offering, two-tenths of an ephah of choice flour mixed with one-third of a hin of oil;
7 and as a drink offering you shall offer one-third of a hin of wine, a pleasing odor to the LORD.
8 When you offer a bull as a burnt offering or a sacrifice, to fulfill a vow or as an offering of well-being to the LORD,
9 then you shall present with the bull a grain offering, three-tenths of an ephah of choice flour, mixed with half a hin of oil,
10 and you shall present as a drink offering half a hin of wine, as an offering by fire, a pleasing odor to the LORD.
11 Thus it shall be done for each ox or ram, or for each of the male lambs or the kids.
12 According to the number that you offer, so you shall do with each and every one.
13 Every native Israelite shall do these things in this way, in presenting an offering by fire, a pleasing odor to the LORD.
14 An alien who lives with you, or who takes up permanent residence among you, and wishes to offer an offering by fire, a pleasing odor to the LORD, shall do as you do.
15 As for the assembly, there shall be for both you and the resident alien a single statute, a perpetual statute throughout your generations; you and the alien shall be alike before the LORD.
16 You and the alien who resides with you shall have the same law and the same ordinance.
17 The LORD spoke to Moses, saying:
18 Speak to the Israelites and say to them: After you come into the land to which I am bringing you,
19 whenever you eat of the bread of the land, you shall present a donation to the LORD.
20 From your first batch of dough you shall present a loaf as a donation; you shall present it just as you present a donation from the threshing floor.
21 Throughout your generations you shall give to the LORD a donation from the first of your batch of dough.
22 But if you unintentionally fail to observe all these commandments that the LORD has spoken to Moses--
23 everything that the LORD has commanded you by Moses, from the day the LORD gave commandment and thereafter, throughout your generations--
24 then if it was done unintentionally without the knowledge of the congregation, the whole congregation shall offer one young bull for a burnt offering, a pleasing odor to the LORD, together with its grain offering and its drink offering, according to the ordinance, and one male goat for a sin offering.
25 The priest shall make atonement for all the congregation of the Israelites, and they shall be forgiven; it was unintentional, and they have brought their offering, an offering by fire to the LORD, and their sin offering before the LORD, for their error.
26 All the congregation of the Israelites shall be forgiven, as well as the aliens residing among them, because the whole people was involved in the error.
27 An individual who sins unintentionally shall present a female goat a year old for a sin offering.
28 And the priest shall make atonement before the LORD for the one who commits an error, when it is unintentional, to make atonement for the person, who then shall be forgiven.
29 For both the native among the Israelites and the alien residing among them-- you shall have the same law for anyone who acts in error.
30 But whoever acts high-handedly, whether a native or an alien, affronts the LORD, and shall be cut off from among the people.
31 Because of having despised the word of the LORD and broken his commandment, such a person shall be utterly cut off and bear the guilt.
32 When the Israelites were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks on the sabbath day.
33 Those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses, Aaron, and to the whole congregation.
34 They put him in custody, because it was not clear what should be done to him.
35 Then the LORD said to Moses, "The man shall be put to death; all the congregation shall stone him outside the camp."
36 The whole congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
37 The LORD said to Moses:
38 Speak to the Israelites, and tell them to make fringes on the corners of their garments throughout their generations and to put a blue cord on the fringe at each corner.
39 You have the fringe so that, when you see it, you will remember all the commandments of the LORD and do them, and not follow the lust of your own heart and your own eyes.
40 So you shall remember and do all my commandments, and you shall be holy to your God.
41 I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the LORD your God.

3 And will make H6213 an offering by fire H801 unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS , a burnt offering H5930 , or H176 CONJ a sacrifice H2077 NMS in performing H6381 a vow H5088 , or H176 CONJ in a freewill offering H5071 , or H176 CONJ in your solemn feasts H4150 , to make H6213 L-VQFC a sweet H5207 savor H7381 CMS unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS , of H4480 PREP the herd H1241 D-NMS , or H176 CONJ of H4480 PREP the flock H6629 :
4 Then shall he that offereth H7126 his offering H7133 unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS bring H7126 a meat offering H4503 NFS of a tenth deal H6241 of flour H5560 mingled H1101 with the fourth H7243 part of a hin H1969 of oil H8081 CMS .
5 And the fourth H7243 part of a hin H1969 of wine H3196 for a drink offering H5262 shalt thou prepare H6213 VQY2MS with H5921 PREP the burnt offering H5930 or H176 CONJ sacrifice H2077 , for one H259 lamb H3532 .
6 Or H176 CONJ for a ram H352 , thou shalt prepare H6213 VQY2MS for a meat offering H4503 NFS two H8147 ONUM tenth deals H6241 of flour H5560 mingled H1101 with the third H7992 part of a hin H1969 of oil H8081 .
7 And for a drink offering H5262 thou shalt offer H7126 the third H7992 part of a hin H1969 of wine H3196 , for a sweet H5207 savor H7381 unto the LORD H3068 .
8 And when H3588 thou preparest H6213 a bullock H1121 CMS for a burnt offering H5930 , or H176 CONJ for a sacrifice H2077 in performing H6381 a vow H5088 , or H176 CONJ peace offerings H8002 unto the LORD H3068 L-NAME-4MS :
9 Then shall he bring H7126 with H5921 PREP a bullock H1121 a meat offering H4503 NFS of three H7969 NFS tenth deals H6241 of flour H5560 mingled H1101 with half H2677 a hin H1969 of oil H8081 .
10 And thou shalt bring H7126 for a drink offering H5262 half H2677 a hin H1969 of wine H3196 , for an offering made by fire H801 , of a sweet H5207 savor H7381 unto the LORD H3068 .
11 Thus H3602 ADV shall it be done H6213 for one H259 D-AMS bullock H7794 , or H176 CONJ for one H259 ram H352 , or H176 CONJ for a lamb H7716 , or H176 CONJ a kid H5795 .
12 According to the number H4557 that H834 RPRO ye shall prepare H6213 , so H3602 ADV shall ye do H6213 to every one H259 according to their number H4557 .
13 All H3605 NMS that are born of the country H249 shall do H6213 VQY3MS these things H428 PMP after this manner H3602 ADV , in offering H7126 an offering made by fire H801 , of a sweet H5207 savor H7381 unto the LORD H3068 L-NAME-4MS .
14 And if H3588 a stranger H1616 NMS sojourn H1481 with H854 PART-2MP you , or H176 CONJ whosoever H834 RPRO be among H8432 you in your generations H1755 , and will offer H6213 W-VQQ3MS an offering made by fire H801 , of a sweet H5207 savor H7381 unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS ; as H834 K-RPRO ye do H6213 W-VQQ3MS , so H3651 ADV he shall do H6213 W-VQQ3MS .
15 One H259 OFS ordinance H2708 shall be both for you of the congregation H6951 , and also for the stranger H1616 that sojourneth H1481 with you , an ordinance H2708 forever H5769 NMS in your generations H1755 : as ye are , so shall the stranger H1616 be H1961 VQY3MS before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
16 One H259 OFS law H8451 NFS and one H259 MMS manner H4941 W-NMS shall be H1961 VQY3MS for you , and for the stranger H1616 that sojourneth H1481 with H854 you .
17 And the LORD H3068 EDS spoke H1696 W-VPY3MS unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 , saying H559 ,
18 Speak H1696 VPFC unto H413 PREP the children H1121 of Israel H3478 , and say H559 unto H413 PREP them , When ye come H935 into H413 PREP the land H776 D-GFS whither H834 RPRO I H589 PPRO-1MS bring H935 VHPMS you ,
19 Then it shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS , that , when ye eat H398 of the bread H3899 of the land H776 D-GFS , ye shall offer up H7311 a heave offering H8641 unto the LORD H3068 .
20 Ye shall offer up H7311 a cake H2471 of the first H7225 CFS of your dough H6182 for a heave offering H8641 : as ye do the heave offering H8641 of the threshingfloor H1637 , so H3651 ADV shall ye heave H7311 it .
21 Of the first H7225 of your dough H6182 ye shall give H5414 unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS a heave offering H8641 in your generations H1755 .
22 And if H3588 W-CONJ ye have erred H7686 , and not H3808 W-NPAR observed H6213 all H3605 NMS these H428 D-DPRO-3MP commandments H4687 , which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS hath spoken H1696 VPQ3MS unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 ,
23 Even all H3605 NMS that H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS hath commanded H6680 VPQ3MS you by the hand H3027 B-CFS of Moses H4872 , from H4480 PREP the day H3117 D-AMS that H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS commanded H6680 VPQ3MS Moses , and henceforward H1973 among your generations H1755 ;
24 Then it shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS , if H518 PART aught be committed H6213 by ignorance H7684 without the knowledge H5869 M-CMD of the congregation H5712 , that all H3605 CMS the congregation H5712 shall offer H6213 W-VQQ3MP one H259 MMS young H1121 bullock H6499 for a burnt offering H5930 , for a sweet H5207 savor H7381 unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS , with his meat offering H4503 , and his drink offering H5262 , according to the manner H4941 , and one H259 MMS kid H8163 of the goats H5795 for a sin offering H2403 .
25 And the priest H3548 shall make an atonement H3722 for H5921 PREP all H3605 NMS the congregation H5712 CFS of the children H1121 of Israel H3478 , and it shall be forgiven H5545 them ; for H3588 CONJ it H1931 PPRO-3FS is ignorance H7684 : and they H1992 W-PPRO-3MP shall bring H935 their offering H7133 , a sacrifice made by fire H801 unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS , and their sin offering H2403 before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS , for H5921 PREP their ignorance H7684 :
26 And it shall be forgiven H5545 all H3605 L-CMS the congregation H5712 CFS of the children H1121 of Israel H3478 , and the stranger H1616 that sojourneth H1481 among H8432 them ; seeing H3588 CONJ all H3605 L-CMS the people H5971 were in ignorance H7684 .
27 And if H518 W-PART any H259 OFS soul H5315 GFS sin H2398 through ignorance H7684 , then he shall bring H7126 a she goat H5795 of the first H1323 CFS year H8141 for a sin offering H2403 .
28 And the priest H3548 shall make an atonement H3722 for H5921 PREP the soul H5315 D-NFS that sinneth ignorantly H7683 , when he sinneth H2398 by ignorance H7684 before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS , to make an atonement H3722 for H5921 PREP him ; and it shall be forgiven H5545 him .
29 Ye shall have H1961 VQY3MS one H259 OFS law H8451 NFS for him that sinneth H6213 through ignorance H7684 , both for him that is born H249 among the children H1121 of Israel H3478 , and for the stranger H1616 that sojourneth H1481 among H8432 them .
30 But the soul H5315 that H834 RPRO doeth H6213 VQY2MS aught presumptuously H3027 , whether he be born in the land H249 , or a stranger H1616 , the same H1931 PPRO-3MS reproacheth H1442 the LORD H3068 EDS ; and that H1931 D-PPRO-3FS soul H5315 D-NFS shall be cut off H3772 from among H7130 his people H5971 .
31 Because H3588 CONJ he hath despised H959 the word H1697 NMS of the LORD H3068 EDS , and hath broken H6565 his commandment H4687 , that H1931 D-PPRO-3FS soul H5315 D-NFS shall utterly be cut off H3772 ; his iniquity H5771 shall be upon him .
32 And while the children H1121 of Israel H3478 were H1961 W-VQY3MP in the wilderness H4057 , they found H4672 a man H376 NMS that gathered H7197 sticks H6086 upon the sabbath H7676 day H3117 B-NMS .
33 And they that found H4672 him gathering H7197 sticks H6086 brought H7126 him unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 and Aaron H175 , and unto H413 PREP all H3605 NMS the congregation H5712 .
34 And they put H5117 him in ward H4929 , because H3588 CONJ it was not H3808 NADV declared H6567 what H4100 IPRO should be done H6213 to him .
35 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 , The man H376 D-NMS shall be surely put to death H4191 VQFA : all H3605 NMS the congregation H5712 shall stone H7275 him with stones H68 without H2351 the camp H4264 .
36 And all H3605 NMS the congregation H5712 brought H3318 him without H413 PREP the camp H4264 , and stoned H7275 him with stones H68 , and he died H4191 ; as H834 K-RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS commanded H6680 VPQ3MS Moses H4872 .
37 And the LORD H3068 EDS spoke H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 , saying H559 W-VQY3MS ,
38 Speak H1696 VPFC unto H413 PREP the children H1121 of Israel H3478 , and bid H559 them that they make H6213 W-VQQ3MP them fringes H6734 in H5921 PREP the borders H3671 of their garments H899 throughout their generations H1755 , and that they put H5414 upon H5921 PREP the fringe H6734 of the borders H3671 a ribbon H6616 of blue H8504 :
39 And it shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS unto you for a fringe H6734 , that ye may look upon H7200 it , and remember H2142 all H3605 NMS the commandments H4687 of the LORD H3068 EDS , and do H6213 them ; and that ye seek H8446 not H3808 W-NPAR after H310 PREP your own heart H3824 and your own eyes H5869 CMP-2MP , after H310 which H834 RPRO ye H859 PPRO-2MS use to go a whoring H2181 :
40 That H4616 L-CONJ ye may remember H2142 , and do H6213 all H3605 NMS my commandments H4687 , and be H1961 W-VQQ2MP holy H6918 unto your God H430 .
41 I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 EDS your God H430 , which H834 RPRO brought you out H3318 of the land H776 M-NFS of Egypt H4714 EFS , to be H1961 your God H430 : I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 EDS your God H430 .
