Esther 6:1 (NASB) New American Standard Bible

1 That night the king, unable to sleep, asked that the chronicle of notable events be brought in. While this was being read to him,
2 the passage occurred in which Mordecai reported Bagathan and Teresh, two of the royal eunuchs who guarded the entrance, for seeking to lay hands on King Ahasuerus.
3 The king asked, "What was done to reward and honor Mordecai for this?" The king's attendants replied, "Nothing was done for him."
4 "Who is in the court?" the king asked. Now Haman had entered the outer court of the king's palace to suggest to the king that Mordecai should be hanged on the gibbet he had raised for him.
5 The king's servants answered him, "Haman is waiting in the court." "Let him come in," the king said.
6 When Haman entered, the king said to him, "What should be done for the man whom the king wishes to reward?" Now Haman thought to himself, "Whom would the king more probably wish to reward than me?"
7 So he replied to the king: "For the man whom the king wishes to reward
8 there should be brought the royal robe which the king wore and the horse on which the king rode when the royal crown was placed on his head.
9 The robe and the horse should be consigned to one of the noblest of the king's officials, who must clothe the man the king wishes to reward, have him ride on the horse in the public square of the city, and cry out before him, "This is what is done for the man whom the king wishes to reward!'"
10 Then the king said to Haman: "Hurry! Take the robe and horse as you have proposed, and do this for the Jew Mordecai, who is sitting at the royal gate. Do not omit anything you proposed."
11 So Haman took the robe and horse, clothed Mordecai, had him ride in the public square of the city, and cried out before him, "This is what is done for the man whom the king wishes to reward!"
12 Mordecai then returned to the royal gate, while Haman hurried home, his head covered in grief.
13 When he told his wife Zeresh and all his friends everything that had happened to him, his advisers and his wife Zeresh said to him, "If Mordecai, before whom you are beginning to decline, is of the Jewish race, you will not prevail against him, but will surely be defeated by him."
14 While they were speaking with him, the king's eunuchs arrived and hurried Haman off to the banquet Esther had prepared.

2 And it was found H4672 written H3789 , that H834 RPRO Mordecai H4782 had told H5046 VHQ3MS of H5921 PREP Bigthana H904 and Teresh H8657 , two H8147 ONUM of the king H4428 D-NMS \'s chamberlains H5631 , the keepers H8104 of the door H5592 , who H834 RPRO sought H1245 to lay H7971 hand H3027 NFS on the king H4428 Ahasuerus H325 .
3 And the king H4428 D-NMS said H559 W-VQY3MS , What H4100 IGAT honor H3366 NMS and dignity H1420 hath been done H6213 to Mordecai H4782 for H5921 PREP this H2088 DPRO ? Then said H559 W-VQY3MS the king H4428 D-NMS \'s servants H5288 that ministered H8334 unto him , There is nothing H3808 NADV done H6213 for H5973 PREP-3MS him .
4 And the king H4428 D-NMS said H559 W-VQY3MS , Who H4310 IPRO is in the court H2691 ? Now Haman H2001 was come H935 VQPMS into the outward H2435 court H2691 of the king H4428 D-NMS \'s house H1004 CMS , to speak H559 W-VQY3MS unto the king H4428 to hang H8518 Mordecai H4782 on H5921 PREP the gallows H6086 AMS that H834 RPRO he had prepared H3559 for him .
5 And the king H4428 D-NMS \'s servants H5288 said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP-3MS him , Behold H2009 IJEC , Haman H2001 standeth H5975 in the court H2691 . And the king H4428 D-NMS said H559 W-VQY3MS , Let him come in H935 VQY3MS .
6 So Haman H2001 came in H935 W-VQY3MS . And the king H4428 D-NMS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto him , What H4100 IPRO shall be done H6213 L-VQFC unto the man H376 whom H834 RPRO the king H4428 D-NMS delighteth H2654 to honor H3366 ? Now Haman H2001 thought H559 W-VQY3MS in his heart H3820 , To whom H4310 L-IPRO would the king H4428 D-NMS delight H2654 VQY3MS to do H6213 L-VQFC honor H3366 NMS more than H3148 to H4480 PREP-1MS myself ?
7 And Haman H2001 answered H559 W-VQY3MS the king H4428 D-NMS , For the man H376 NMS whom H834 RPRO the king H4428 D-NMS delighteth H2654 to honor H3366 ,
8 Let the royal H4438 CFP apparel H3830 NMS be brought H935 which H834 RPRO the king H4428 D-NMS useth to wear H3847 , and the horse H5483 that H834 RPRO the king H4428 D-NMS rideth H7392 upon H5921 PREP-3MS , and the crown H3804 royal H4438 CFP which H834 RPRO is set H5414 upon his head H7218 :
9 And let this apparel H3830 and horse H5483 be delivered H5414 to H5921 PREP the hand H3027 CFS of one H376 NMS of the king H4428 D-NMS \'s most noble H6579 princes H8269 , that they may array H3847 the man H376 D-NMS withal whom H834 RPRO the king H4428 D-NMS delighteth H2654 to honor H3366 , and bring H7392 him on H5921 PREP horseback H5483 through the street H7339 of the city H5892 D-GFS , and proclaim H7121 W-VQQ3MP before H6440 L-CMP-3MS him , Thus H3602 ADV shall it be done H6213 to the man H376 NMS whom H834 RPRO the king H4428 D-NMS delighteth H2654 to honor H3366 .
10 Then the king H4428 D-NMS said H559 W-VQY3MS to Haman H2001 , Make haste H4116 , and take H3947 VQI2MS the apparel H3830 and the horse H5483 , as H834 RPRO thou hast said H1696 , and do H6213 even so H3651 ADV to Mordecai H4782 the Jew H3064 , that sitteth H3427 at the king H4428 D-NMS \'s gate H8179 : let nothing H408 NPAR fail H5307 of all H3605 M-CMS that H834 RPRO thou hast spoken H1696 .
11 Then took H3947 W-VQY3MS Haman H2001 the apparel H3830 and the horse H5483 , and arrayed H3847 Mordecai H4782 , and brought him on horseback H7392 through the street H7339 of the city H5892 D-GFS , and proclaimed H7121 W-VQY3MS before H6440 L-CMP-3MS him , Thus H3602 ADV shall it be done H6213 unto the man H376 LD-NMS whom H834 RPRO the king H4428 D-NMS delighteth H2654 to honor H3366 .
12 And Mordecai H4782 came again H7725 to H413 PREP the king H4428 D-NMS \'s gate H8179 NMS . But Haman H2001 hasted H1765 to H413 PREP his house H1004 NMS-3MS mourning H57 , and having his head H7218 covered H2645 .
13 And Haman H2001 told H5608 Zeresh H2238 his wife H802 CFS-3MS and all H3605 NMS his friends H157 every H3605 NMS thing that H834 RPRO had befallen H7136 him . Then said H559 W-VQY3MP his wise men H2450 and Zeresh H2238 his wife H802 CFS-3MS unto him , If H518 PART Mordecai H4782 be of the seed H2233 of the Jews H3064 , before H6440 L-CMP-3MS whom H834 RPRO thou hast begun H2490 to fall H5307 , thou shalt not H3808 NADV prevail H3201 against him , but H3588 CONJ shalt surely fall H5307 before H6440 him .
14 And while they were yet H5750 talking H1696 with H5973 PREP-3MS him , came H5060 the king H4428 D-NMS \'s chamberlains H5631 , and hasted H926 to bring H935 L-VHFC Haman H2001 unto H413 PREP the banquet H4960 D-NMS that H834 RPRO Esther H635 had prepared H6213 VQQ3MS .
