Job 18:1 (NASB) New American Standard Bible

1 Then Bildad the Shuhite replied and said:
2 When will you put an end to words? Reflect, and then we can have discussion.
3 Why are we accounted like the beasts, their equals in your sight?
4 You who tear yourself in your anger, shall the earth be neglected on your account (or the rock be moved out of its place)?
5 Truly, the light of the wicked is extinguished; no flame brightens his hearth.
6 The light is darkened in his tent; in spite of him, his lamp goes out.
7 His vigorous steps are hemmed in, and his own counsel casts him down.
8 For he rushes headlong into a net, and he wanders into a pitfall.
9 A trap seizes him by the heel, and a snare lays hold of him.
10 A noose for him is hid on the ground, and the toils for him on the way.
11 On every side terrors affright him; they harry him at each step.
12 Disaster is ready at his side,
13 the first-born of death consumes his limbs.
14 Fiery destruction lodges in his tent, and marches him off to the king of terrors. He is plucked from the security of his tent;
15 over his abode brimstone is scattered.
16 Below, his roots dry up, and above, his branches wither.
17 His memory perishes from the land, and he has no name on the earth.
18 He is driven from light into darkness, and banished out of the world.
19 He has neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any survior where once he dwelt.
20 They who come after shall be appalled at his fate; they who went before are struck with horror.
21 So is it then with the dwelling of the impious man, and such is the place of him who knows not God!

3 Wherefore H4069 IPRO are we counted H2803 VNQ1MP as beasts H929 KD-NFS , and reputed vile H2933 VNQ1MP in your sight H5869 B-CMD-2MP ?
4 He teareth H2963 VQPMS himself H5315 NMS-3MS in his anger H639 B-CMS-3MS : shall the earth H776 NFS be forsaken H5800 VNY3FS for H4616 PREP-2MS thee ? and shall the rock H6697 NMS be removed H6275 W-VQY3MS out of his place H4725 M-CMS-3MS ?
5 Yea H1571 CONJ , the light H216 NMS of the wicked H7563 AMP shall be put out H1846 VQY3MS , and the spark H7632 CMS of his fire H784 CMS-3MS shall not H3808 W-NPAR shine H5050 VQY3MS .
6 The light H216 NMS shall be dark H2821 VQQ3MS in his tabernacle H168 B-CMS-3MS , and his candle H5216 W-CMS-3MS shall be put out H1846 VQY3MS with H5921 PREP-3MS him .
7 The steps H6806 CMP of his strength H202 CMS-3MS shall be straitened H3334 VQY3MP , and his own counsel H6098 CFS-3MS shall cast him down H7993 W-VHY3FS-3MS .
8 For H3588 CONJ he is cast H7971 VUQ3MS into a net H7568 B-NFS by his own feet H7272 B-CFD-3MS , and he walketh H1980 VTY3MS upon H5921 W-PREP a snare H7639 NFS .
9 The gin H6341 NMS shall take H270 VQY3MS him by the heel H6119 B-NMS , and the robber H6782 NMS shall prevail H2388 VHI3MS against H5921 PREP-3MS him .
10 The snare H2256 CMS-3MS is laid H2934 VWPMS for him in the ground H776 B-NFS , and a trap H4434 W-CMS-3MS for him in H5921 PREP the way H5410 NMS .
11 Terrors H1091 NFP shall make him afraid H1204 VPQ3MP-3MS on every side H5439 ADV , and shall drive H6327 W-VHY3MP-3MS him to his feet H7272 L-CFD-3MS .
12 His strength H202 CMS-3MS shall be H1961 VPY3MS hunger H7457 AMS - bitten , and destruction H343 W-CMS shall be ready H3559 NMS at his side H6763 L-CMS-3MS .
13 It shall devour H398 VQY3MS the strength H905 CMP of his skin H5785 CMS-3MS : even the firstborn H1060 CMS of death H4194 NMS shall devour H398 VQY3MS his strength H905 CMP-3MS .
14 His confidence H4009 CMS-3MS shall be rooted out H5423 VNY3MS of his tabernacle H168 M-CMS-3MS , and it shall bring H6805 W-VHY3FS-3MS him to the king H4428 L-CMS of terrors H1091 B-NFP .
15 It shall dwell H7931 VQY3FS in his tabernacle H168 B-CMS-3MS , because it is none H1097 M-NPAR of his : brimstone H1614 NFS shall be scattered H2219 VUY3MS upon H5921 PREP his habitation H5116 CMS-3MS .
16 His roots H8328 CMS-3MS shall be dried up H3001 VQY3MP beneath H8478 M-CFS , and above H4605 WM-ADV shall his branch H7105 CMS-3MS be cut off H5243 VQY3MS .
17 His remembrance H2143 CMS-3MS shall perish H6 VQQ3MS from H4480 PREP-1MS the earth H776 NFS , and he shall have no H3808 W-NPAR name H8034 CMS in H5921 PREP the street H6440 CMP .
18 He shall be driven H1920 VQY3MP-3MS from light H216 M-NMS into H413 PREP darkness H2822 NMS , and chased H5074 VHY3MP-3MS out of the world H8398 WM-NFS .
19 He shall neither H3808 NADV have son H5209 NMS nor H3808 W-NADV nephew H5220 NMS among his people H5971 B-CMS-3MS , nor H369 W-NPAR any remaining H8300 NMS in his dwellings H4033 B-CMP-3MS .
20 They that come after H314 AMP him shall be astonished H8074 VNQ3MP at H5921 PREP his day H3117 CMS-3MS , as they that went before H6931 W-AMP were frightened H8178 NMS .
21 Surely H389 ADV such H428 PMP are the dwellings H4908 CMP of the wicked H5767 NMS , and this H2088 W-PMS is the place H4725 CMS of him that knoweth H3045 VQQ3MS not H3808 NADV God H410 NMS .
