Romans 13:1 (NASB) New American Standard Bible

1 Let every person be subordinate to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been established by God.
2 Therefore, whoever resists authority opposes what God has appointed, and those who oppose it will bring judgment upon themselves.
3 For rulers are not a cause of fear to good conduct, but to evil. Do you wish to have no fear of authority? Then do what is good and you will receive approval from it,
4 for it is a servant of God for your good. But if you do evil, be afraid, for it does not bear the sword without purpose; it is the servant of God to inflict wrath on the evildoer.
5 Therefore, it is necessary to be subject not only because of the wrath but also because of conscience.
6 This is why you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, devoting themselves to this very thing.
7 Pay to all their dues, taxes to whom taxes are due, toll to whom toll is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due.
8 Owe nothing to anyone, except to love one another; for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.
9 The commandments, "You shall not commit adultery; you shall not kill; you shall not steal; you shall not covet," and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this saying, (namely) "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
10 Love does no evil to the neighbor; hence, love is the fulfillment of the law.
11 And do this because you know the time; it is the hour now for you to awake from sleep. For our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed;
12 the night is advanced, the day is at hand. Let us then throw off the works of darkness (and) put on the armor of light;
13 let us conduct ourselves properly as in the day, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in promiscuity and licentiousness, not in rivalry and jealousy.
14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the desires of the flesh.

2 Whosoever therefore resisteth G498 V-PMP-NSM the G3588 T-DSF power G1849 N-DSF , resisteth G436 V-RAI-3S the G3588 T-DSF ordinance G1296 N-DSF of G3588 T-NPM God G2316 N-GSM : and G1161 CONJ they that resist G436 V-RAP-NPM shall receive G2983 V-FDI-3P to themselves G1438 F-3DPM damnation G2917 N-ASN .
3 For G1063 CONJ rulers G758 N-NPM are G1526 V-PXI-3P not G3756 PRT-N a terror G5401 N-NSM to good G18 A-GPN works G2041 N-GPN , but G235 CONJ to the G3588 T-GPN evil G2556 A-GPN . Wilt G2309 V-PAI-2S thou then G1161 CONJ not G3361 PRT-N be afraid G5399 V-PNN of G3588 T-ASF the G3588 T-ASF power G1849 N-ASF ? do G4160 V-PAM-2S that which is good G18 A-ASN , and G2532 CONJ thou shalt have G2192 V-FAI-2S praise G1868 N-ASM of G1537 PREP the same G846 P-GSF :
4 For G1063 CONJ he is G2076 V-PXI-3S the minister G1249 N-NSM of God G2316 N-GSM to thee G4671 P-2DS for G3588 T-ASN good G18 A-ASN . But G1161 CONJ if G1437 COND thou do G4160 V-PAS-2S that which is evil G2556 A-ASN , be afraid G5399 V-PNM-2S ; for G1063 CONJ he beareth G5409 V-PAI-3S not G3756 PRT-N the G3588 T-ASF sword G3162 N-ASF in vain G1500 ADV : for G1063 CONJ he is G2076 V-PXI-3S the minister G1249 N-NSM of God G2316 N-GSM , a revenger G1558 A-NSM to G1519 PREP execute wrath G3709 N-ASF upon him G3588 T-ASN that G3588 T-ASN doeth G4238 V-PAP-DSM evil G2556 A-ASN .
5 Wherefore G1352 CONJ ye must needs G318 N-NSF be subject G5293 V-PMN , not G3756 PRT-N only G3440 ADV for G3588 T-ASF wrath G3709 N-ASF , but G235 CONJ also G2532 CONJ for conscience sake G1223 PREP .
6 For G1063 CONJ for this cause G1223 PREP pay G5055 V-PAI-2P ye tribute G5411 N-APM also G2532 CONJ : for G1063 CONJ they are G1526 V-PXI-3P God G2316 N-GSM \'s ministers G3011 N-NPM , attending continually G4342 V-PAP-NPM upon G1519 PREP this very thing G5124 D-ASN .
7 Render G591 V-2AAM-2P therefore G3767 CONJ to all G3956 A-DPM their G3588 T-ASM dues G3782 N-APF : tribute G5411 N-ASM to whom G3588 T-ASM tribute G5411 N-ASM is due ; custom G5056 N-ASN to whom G3588 T-ASN custom G5056 N-ASN ; fear G5401 N-ASM to whom G3588 T-ASM fear G5401 N-ASM ; honor G5092 N-ASF to whom G3588 T-ASF honor G5092 N-ASF .
8 Owe G3784 V-PAM-2P no man G3367 A-DSM any thing G3367 A-ASN , but G1508 to love G25 V-PAN one another G240 C-APM : for G1063 CONJ he G3588 T-ASM that G3588 T-ASM loveth G25 V-PAP-NSM another G2087 A-ASM hath fulfilled G4137 V-RAI-3S the law G3551 N-ASM .
9 For G1063 CONJ this G3588 T-NSN , Thou shalt not G3756 PRT-N commit adultery G3431 V-FAI-2S , Thou shalt not G3756 PRT-N kill G5407 V-FAI-2S , Thou shalt not G3756 PRT-N steal G2813 V-FAI-2S , Thou shalt not G3756 PRT-N bear false witness G5576 V-FAI-2S , Thou shalt not G3756 PRT-N covet G1937 V-FAI-2S ; and G2532 CONJ if there be any G1536 other G2087 A-NSF commandment G1785 N-NSF , it is briefly comprehended G346 V-PPI-3S in G1722 PREP this G3588 T-DSM saying G3056 N-DSM , namely G1722 PREP , Thou shalt love G25 V-FAI-2S thy G3588 T-ASM neighbor G4139 ADV as G5613 ADV thyself G1438 .
10 Love G26 N-NSF worketh G2038 V-PNI-3S no G3756 PRT-N ill G2556 A-ASN to his neighbor G4139 ADV : therefore G3767 CONJ love G26 N-NSF is the fulfilling G4138 N-NSN of the law G3551 N-GSM .
11 And G2532 CONJ that G5124 D-NSN , knowing G1492 V-RAP-NPM the G3588 T-ASM time G2540 N-ASM , that G3754 CONJ now G2235 ADV it is high time G5610 N-NSF to G2248 P-1AP awake G1453 V-APN out of G1537 PREP sleep G5258 N-GSM : for G1063 CONJ now G3568 ADV is our G3588 T-NSF salvation G4991 N-NSF nearer G1452 ADV than G2228 PRT when G3753 ADV we believed G4100 V-AAI-1P .
12 The G3588 T-NSF night G3571 N-NSF is far spent G4298 V-AAI-3S , the G3588 T-NSF day G2250 N-NSF is at hand G1448 V-RAI-3S : let us therefore G3767 CONJ cast off G659 V-2AMS-1P the G3588 T-APN works G2041 N-APN of darkness G4655 N-GSN , and G2532 CONJ let us put on G1746 V-AMS-1P the G3588 T-APN armor G3696 N-APN of light G5457 N-GSN .
13 Let us walk G4043 V-AAS-1P honestly G2156 ADV , as G5613 ADV in G1722 PREP the day G2250 N-DSF ; not G3361 PRT-N in rioting G2970 N-DPM and G2532 CONJ drunkenness G3178 N-DPF , not G3361 PRT-N in chambering G2845 N-DPF and G2532 CONJ wantonness G766 N-DPF , not G3361 PRT-N in strife G2054 N-DSF and G2532 CONJ envying G2205 N-DSM .
14 But G235 CONJ put ye on G1746 V-AMM-2P the G3588 T-ASM Lord G2962 N-ASM Jesus G2424 N-ASM Christ G5547 N-ASM , and G2532 CONJ make G4160 V-PMM-2P not G3361 PRT-N provision G4307 N-ASF for G3588 T-GSF the G3588 T-GSF flesh G4561 N-GSF , to fulfill the G1519 PREP lusts G1939 N-APF thereof .
