2 2 तेव्हा तकोवा येथे निरोप्याला पाठवून त्याने तेथील एका चतुर बाईला बोलावणे पाठवले. तिला तो म्हणाला, “तू खूप दु:खात असल्याचे ढोंग कर. त्याला शोभेसे कपडे कर. नटू सजू नको. अनेक दिवस मृताचा शोक करीत असलेल्या बाईसारखी तू दिसली पाहिजेस.

3 3 राजाकडे जा आणि मी सांगतो तसे त्याच्याशी बोल.” यवाबाने मग तिला काय बोलायचे ते सांगितले.

4 4 मग तकोवा येथील बाई राजाशी बोलली. तिने स्वत:ला जमिनीवर लवून व राजापुढे नतमस्तक होऊन ती म्हणाली, “कृपाकरून मला मदत करा.”

5 5 राजाने तिची विचारपूस करुन तिची अडचण जाणून घेतली. ती म्हणाली, “मी एक विधवा बाई

6 6 मला दोन मुलगे होते. एकदा शेतात त्यांचे भांडण जुंपले, त्यांना थोपवायलाही कोणी नव्हते. तेव्हा एकाने दुसऱ्याचा जीव घेतला.

7 7 आता सगळे घर माझ्याविरुद्ध आहे. सगळे मला म्हणतात “आपल्या भावाचा जीव घेणाऱ्या त्या मुलाला आमच्या स्वाधीन कर. त्याला आम्ही मारून टाकतो. कारण त्याने आपल्या भावाला मारले. माझा मुलगा हा आगीतल्या शेवटच्या ठिणगी सारखा आहे. त्यांनी माझ्या मुलाचा जीव घेतला तर ती आग नष्ट होईल. आपल्या वडिलांच्या मालमत्तेचा तो एकुलता एक वारस आहे. तोही गेला तर माझ्या मृत पतीची मालमत्ता दुसरा कोणी हडप करील आणि या भूमीवर नावनिशाणीही राहणार नाही.”

8 8 हे ऐकून राजा तिला म्हणाला, “मी यात लक्ष घालतो. तू घरी जा.”

9 9 तेव्हा ती बाई राजाला म्हणाली, “माझे स्वामी या सगळ्याला मी जबाबदार आहे, मी दोषी आहे, तुम्ही आणि तुमचे आसन निदोर्ष आहेत.”

10 10 राजा दावीद म्हणाला, “तुझ्याविरुद्ध कोणी काही बोलले तर त्याला माझ्याकडे आण तुला पुन्हा कोणी त्रास देणार नाही.”

11 11 ती तकोवा येथील बाई पुन्हा राजाला म्हणाली, “परमेश्वरा देवाच्या नावाची शपथ वाहून सांगा की या लोकांचा तुम्ही बंदोबस्त कराल. त्यांना भावाचा खून केल्याबद्दल माझ्या मुलाला शासन करायचे आहे. तेव्हा त्याला धक्का पोहचणार नाही याचे मला आश्वासन द्या.”दावीद म्हणाला, “परमेश्वर असे पर्यंत कोणीही तुझ्या मुलाला इजा करणार नाही. त्याच्या केसालाही धक्का पोचणार नाही.”

12 12 मग ती म्हणाली, “माझे स्वामी, मला तुमच्याशी आणखी काही बोलायचे आहे परवानगी असावी.”राजा म्हणाला, “बोल”

13 13 त्यावर ती म्हणाली, “तुम्ही देवाच्या लोकांच्या विरुद्ध योजना का केली आहे? होय, तुम्ही असे म्हणालात तेव्हा तुम्ही स्वत: दोषी ठरता. कारण तुम्ही आपल्या घराबाहेर घालवलेल्या मुलाला पुन्हा परत आणलेले नाही.

14 14 आपण सर्वच कधीना कधी मरण पावणार आहोत. जमिनीवर पडलेल्या पाण्यासारखी आपली स्थिती होणार आहे. सांडलेले पाणी पुन्हा भरता येत नाही. देव क्षमाशील आहे हे तुम्ही जाणता. स्वसंरक्षणासाठी पळालेल्याच्या बाबतीतही देवाची काही योजना असते. देव त्याला आपल्यापासून पळायला लावत नाही.

15 15 स्वामी, हेच सांगायला मी येथपर्यंत आले. लोकांमुळे मी भयभीत झाले होते. मी मनाशी म्हणाले, “राजाशी मी बोलेन. कदाचित् तोच मला मदत करील.

16 16 तो माझे ऐकून घेईल. मला आणि माझ्या मुलाला मारायला निघालेल्या माणसापासून माझा बचाव करील. देवाने आपल्याला जे दिले त्यापासून हा माणूस आम्हाला वंचित करू पाहात आहे.’

17 17 स्वामी, तुमच्या शब्दांनी मला दिलासा मिळेल हे मी जाणून होते. कारण तुम्ही देवदूतासारखेच आहात. बरेवाईट तुम्ही जाणता. आणि देव परमेश्वराची तुम्हाला साथ आहे.”

18 18 राजा दावीद त्या बाईला म्हणाला, “आता मी विचारतो त्याचे उत्तर दे. माझ्यापासून काही लपवून ठेवू नकोस.”ती म्हणाली, “माझेस्वामी, विचारा”

19 19 राजा म्हणाला, “तुला हे सर्व बोलायला यवाबाने सांगितले का?”ती म्हणाली, “होय महाराज तुमचे सेवक यवाब यांनीच मला हे सर्व बोलायला सांगितले.

20 20 अलिप्तपणे सर्व गोष्टी न्याहाळता याव्यात म्हणूनच, स्वरुप बदलून सांगायची युक्ती यवाबाने केली. तुम्ही देवदूता सारखेच चाणाक्ष आहात. तुम्हाला या पृथ्वीवरील सर्व घटना समजतात.”

21 21 राजा यवाबाला म्हणाला, “माझे वचन मी खरे करीन, आता अबशालोमला परत आणा,”

22 22 यवाबाने राजाला वाकून अभिवादन केले. राजाचे अभीष्ट चिंतून तो म्हणाला, “तुम्ही माझ्यावर प्रसन्न आहात हे मी जाणतो. माझी विनंती तुम्ही मान्य केलीत यावरून मी ताडले.”

23 23 मग यवाब गशूर येथे गेला आणि अबशालोमला यरुशलेमला घेऊन आला.

24 24 पण राजा दावीद म्हणाला, “अबशालोमला त्याच्या घरी जाऊ दे. त्याला मला भेटता मात्र येणार नाही.” तेव्हा राजाचे तोंड न पाहताच अबशालोम आपल्या घरी परतला.

25 25 अबशालोमच्या देखणेपणाची लोक तोंड भरुन प्रशंसा करत होते. इस्राएलमध्ये त्याचा रुपाला तोड नव्हती. त्याचा देह नखशिखान्त निर्दाष, नितळ होता.

26 26 दरवर्षाच्या अखेरीस अबशालोम आपल्या माथ्यावरील केस कापून त्याचे वजन करीत असे. ते पाच पौंड भरत.

27 27 त्याला तीन मुलगे आणि एक मुलगी होती. या मुलीचे नाव तामार होते. तामार दिसायला सुंदर होती.

28 28 यरुशलेम मध्ये अबशालोम पूर्ण दोन वर्षे राहिला. पण त्या कालावधीत राजा दावीदाला मात्र तो एकदाही भेटू शकला नाही.

29 29 तेव्हा अबशालोमने यवाबाकडे आपल्या सेवकाला पाठवले. आपली राजाशी भेट घडवून आणावी असा निरोप दूतांकरवी यवाबाला दिला. पण यवाब अबशालोमकडे आला नाही. अबशालोमने त्याला पुन्हा बोलावणे पाठवले तरीही तो येईना.

30 30 तेव्हा मात्र अबशालोम आपल्या सेवकांना म्हणाला, “माझ्या शेताला लागूनच यवाबाचे शेत आहे. त्यात जवाचे पीक आले आहे ते पेटवून द्या”अबशालोमच्या सेवकांनी त्याप्रमाणे यवाबाच्या शेतात आग लावली.

31 31 तेव्हा यवाबा उठून अबशालोमकडे आला आणि त्याला म्हणाला “तुझ्या सेवकांनी माझ्या शेतात जाळपोळ का केली?”

32 32 अबशालोम यवाबाला म्हणाला, “मी निरोप पाठवून तुला बोलावणे धाडले होते. तुला मी राजाकडे पाठवणार होतो. गशूरहून त्याने मला का बोलावले ते मी तुला त्याला विचारायला सांगणार होतो. मी त्याचे दर्शन घेऊ शकत नसेन तर गशूरहून मी इथे येण्यात काय मतलब? तेव्हा मला त्याला भेटू दे. माझा काही अपराध असला तर त्याने मला खुशाल मारून टाकावे.”

33 33 तेव्हा यवाब राजाकडे आला आणि त्याने अबशालोमचे मनोगत राजाला सांगितले. राजाने अबशालोमला बोलावले. अबशालोम आला. त्याने राजाला वाकून अभिवादन केले. राजाने त्याचे चुंबन घेतले.

3 And come ^H935 to ^H413 the king, ^H4428 and speak ^H1696 on ^H413 this ^H2088 manner ^H1697 unto ^H413 him . So Joab ^H3097 put ^H7760 ^H853 the words ^H1697 in her mouth. ^H6310

4 And when the woman ^H802 of Tekoah ^H8621 spoke ^H559 to ^H413 the king, ^H4428 she fell ^H5307 on ^H5921 her face ^H639 to the ground, ^H776 and did obeisance, ^H7812 and said, ^H559 Help, ^H3467 O king. ^H4428

5 And the king ^H4428 said ^H559 unto her, What ^H4100 aileth thee? And she answered, ^H559 I ^H589 am indeed ^H61 a widow ^H490 woman, ^H802 and mine husband ^H376 is dead. ^H4191

6 And thy handmaid ^H8198 had two ^H8147 sons, ^H1121 and they two ^H8147 strove together ^H5327 in the field, ^H7704 and there was none ^H369 to part ^H5337 ^H996 them , but the one ^H259 smote ^H5221 ^H853 the other, ^H259 and slew ^H4191 him.

9 And the woman ^H802 of Tekoah ^H8621 said ^H559 unto ^H413 the king, ^H4428 My lord, ^H113 O king, ^H4428 the iniquity ^H5771 be on ^H5921 me , and on ^H5921 my father's ^H1 house: ^H1004 and the king ^H4428 and his throne ^H3678 be guiltless. ^H5355

10 And the king ^H4428 said, ^H559 Whosoever saith ^H1696 aught unto ^H413 thee, bring ^H935 him to ^H413 me , and he shall not ^H3808 touch ^H5060 thee any ^H3254 more. ^H5750

11 Then said ^H559 she , I pray thee, ^H4994 let the king ^H4428 remember ^H2142 ^H853 the LORD ^H3068 thy God, ^H430 that thou wouldest not ^H3808 suffer the revengers ^H1350 of blood ^H1818 to destroy ^H7843 any more, ^H7235 lest they destroy ^H8045 ^H853 my son. ^H1121 And he said, ^H559 As the LORD ^H3068 liveth, ^H2416 there shall not ^H518 one hair ^H4480 ^H8185 of thy son ^H1121 fall ^H5307 to the earth. ^H776

12 Then the woman ^H802 said, ^H559 Let thine handmaid, ^H8198 I pray thee, ^H4994 speak ^H1696 one word ^H1697 unto ^H413 my lord ^H113 the king. ^H4428 And he said, ^H559 Say on. ^H1696

13 And the woman ^H802 said, ^H559 Wherefore ^H4100 then hast thou thought ^H2803 such ^H2063 a thing against ^H5921 the people ^H5971 of God ^H430 ? for the king ^H4428 doth speak ^H4480 ^H1696 this ^H2088 thing ^H1697 as one which is faulty, ^H818 in that the king ^H4428 doth not ^H1115 fetch home again ^H7725 ^H853 his banished. ^H5080

14 For ^H3588 we must needs die ^H4191 ^H4191 , and are as water ^H4325 spilt ^H5064 on the ground, ^H776 which ^H834 cannot ^H3808 be gathered up ^H622 again; neither ^H3808 doth God ^H430 respect ^H5375 any person: ^H5315 yet doth he devise ^H2803 means, ^H4284 that his banished ^H5080 be not expelled ^H5080 from ^H4480 him.

19 And the king ^H4428 said, ^H559 Is not the hand ^H3027 of Joab ^H3097 with ^H854 thee in all ^H3605 this ^H2063 ? 21 And the king ^H4428 said ^H559 unto ^H413 Joab, ^H3097 Behold ^H2009 now, ^H4994 I have done ^H6213 ^H853 this ^H2088 thing: ^H1697 go ^H1980 therefore, bring ^H7725 ^H853 the young man ^H5288 Absalom ^H53 again.

22 And Joab ^H3097 fell ^H5307 to the ground ^H776 on ^H413 his face, ^H6440 and bowed himself, ^H7812 and thanked ^H1288 ^H853 the king: ^H4428 and Joab ^H3097 said, ^H559 Today ^H3117 thy servant ^H5650 knoweth ^H3045 that ^H3588 I have found ^H4672 grace ^H2580 in thy sight, ^H5869 my lord, ^H113 O king, ^H4428 in that ^H834 the king ^H4428 hath fulfilled ^H6213 ^H853 the request ^H1697 of his servant. ^H5650

23 So Joab ^H3097 arose ^H6965 and went ^H1980 to Geshur, ^H1650 and brought ^H935 ^H853 Absalom ^H53 to Jerusalem. ^H3389

24 And the king ^H4428 said, ^H559 Let him turn ^H5437 to ^H413 his own house, ^H1004 and let him not ^H3808 see ^H7200 my face. ^H6440 So Absalom ^H53 returned ^H5437 to ^H413 his own house, ^H1004 and saw ^H7200 not ^H3808 the king's ^H4428 face. ^H6440

25 But in all ^H3605 Israel ^H3478 there was ^H1961 none ^H3808 ^H376 to be so much ^H3966 praised ^H1984 as Absalom ^H53 for his beauty: ^H3303 from the sole ^H4480 ^H3709 of his foot ^H7272 even to ^H5704 the crown of his head ^H6936 there was ^H1961 no ^H3808 blemish ^H3971 in him.

26 And when he polled his head, ^H7218 (for it was ^H1961 at every year's end ^H4480 ^H7093 ^H3117 ^H3117 that ^H834 he polled ^H1548 it : because ^H3588 the hair was heavy ^H3513 on ^H5921 him , therefore he polled ^H1548 it:) he weighed the hair ^H8181 of his head ^H7218 at two hundred ^H3967 shekels ^H8255 after the king's ^H4428 weight. ^H68

27 And unto Absalom ^H53 there were born ^H3205 three ^H7969 sons, ^H1121 and one ^H259 daughter, ^H1323 whose name ^H8034 was Tamar: ^H8559 she ^H1931 was ^H1961 a woman ^H802 of a fair ^H3303 countenance. ^H4758

28 So Absalom ^H53 dwelt ^H3427 two full years ^H8141 ^H3117 in Jerusalem, ^H3389 and saw ^H7200 not ^H3808 the king's ^H4428 face. ^H6440

29 Therefore Absalom ^H53 sent ^H7971 for ^H413 Joab, ^H3097 to have sent ^H7971 him to ^H413 the king; ^H4428 but he would ^H14 not ^H3808 come ^H935 to ^H413 him : and when he sent ^H7971 again ^H5750 the second time, ^H8145 he would ^H14 not ^H3808 come. ^H935

30 Therefore he said ^H559 unto ^H413 his servants, ^H5650 See, ^H7200 Joab's ^H3097 field ^H2513 is near ^H413 mine, ^H3027 and he hath barley ^H8184 there; ^H8033 go ^H1980 and set ^H3341 it on fire. ^H784 And Absalom's ^H53 servants ^H5650 set ^H3341 ^H853 the field ^H2513 on fire. ^H784

31 Then Joab ^H3097 arose, ^H6965 and came ^H935 to ^H413 Absalom ^H53 unto his house, ^H1004 and said ^H559 unto ^H413 him, Wherefore ^H4100 have thy servants ^H5650 set ^H3341 ^H853 my field ^H2513 on fire ^H784 ?

32 And Absalom ^H53 answered ^H559 ^H413 Joab, ^H3097 Behold, ^H2009 I sent ^H7971 unto ^H413 thee, saying, ^H559 Come ^H935 hither, ^H2008 that I may send ^H7971 thee to ^H413 the king, ^H4428 to say, ^H559 Wherefore ^H4100 am I ^H589 come ^H935 from Geshur ^H4480 ^H1650 ? it had been good ^H2896 for me to have been there ^H8033 still: ^H5750 now ^H6258 therefore let me see ^H7200 the king's ^H4428 face; ^H6440 and if ^H518 there be ^H3426 any iniquity ^H5771 in me , let him kill ^H4191 me.

33 So Joab ^H3097 came ^H935 to ^H413 the king, ^H4428 and told ^H5046 him : and when he had called ^H7121 for ^H413 Absalom, ^H53 he came ^H935 to ^H413 the king, ^H4428 and bowed ^H7812 himself on ^H5921 his face ^H639 to the ground ^H776 before ^H6440 the king: ^H4428 and the king ^H4428 kissed ^H5401 Absalom. ^H53
