1 माझ्या मुला तू ख्रिस्त येशूच्या ठायी असलेल्या कृपेत बलवान हो.
2 2 माझ्याकडून ज्या गोष्टी तू पुष्कळ साक्षीदारांसमोर ऐकल्यास त्या घे व इतरांना शिकविण्यास समर्थ अशा विश्वासू लोकांवर सोपवून दे.
3 3 ख्रिस्त येशूचा चांगला सैनिक या नात्याने आपल्या दु:खाचा सहभागी बनून राहा.
4 4 सैनिकाचे काम करणारा कोणीही जीवनातील संसाराच्या कामकाजात अडकत नाही. यासाठी की त्याला आपल्या वरिष्ठ अधिकाऱ्याला संतुष्ट करता यावे.
5 5 जर कोणी मैदानी स्पर्धेत भाग घेतो तर नियमाप्रमाणे स्पर्धेत घेतल्याशिवाय त्याला विजयाचा मुकुट मिळविता येत नाही.
6 6 अति श्रम करणारा शेतकरी हा पहिल्या फळाचा वाटा घेणारा असावा.
7 7 मी काय म्हणतो याविषयी तू विचार करावा अशी माझी इच्छा आहे. प्रभु तुला या सर्व गोष्टी समजून घेण्याचे सामर्थ्य देईल.
8 8 येशू ख्रिस्त जो मेलेल्यांतून उठला व दाविदाचा वंशज आहे त्याची आठवण करीत राहा. जी सुवार्ता मी सांगतो तिचा हा गाभा आहे.
9 9 कारण सुवार्तेमुळे मी दु:ख सहन करतो. येथपर्यंत की, गुन्हेगाराप्रमणे साखळदंडानी मला बांधण्यात आले. पण देवाचे शिक्षण बांधले गेले नाही.
10 10 म्हणून, देवाच्या निवडलेल्यांसाठी मी सर्व काही सोशीत आहे, म्हणजे त्यांनाही ख्रिस्त येशूद्वारे मिळणारे तारण व अनंतकाळचे गौरव प्राप्त व्हावे.
11 11 येथे एक विश्वसनीय सत्य आहे:जर आम्ही त्याच्यासह मेलेले आहोत. तर त्याच्याबरोबर जीवंतही राहू
12 12 जर आम्ही दु:खसहन केले तर आम्ही त्याच्याबरोबर राज्यसुद्धा करू जर आम्ही त्याला नाकारले तर तोही आम्हाला नाकारील
13 13 जरी आम्ही अविश्वासू आहोत तरी तो अजूनही विश्वासू आहे कारण तो स्वत:ला नाकारु शकत नाही.
14 14 लोकांना या गोष्टीची आठवण करुन देत राहा. देवासमोर त्यांना निक्षून ताकीद दे की, शब्दांविषयी भांडू नका. असे भांडण कोणत्याही फायद्याचे नाही. फक्त जे ऐकतात त्यांचा ते नाश करते.
15 15 देवाने पसंत केलेला व देवाचे वचन योग्य रीतीने शिकवण्यास पात्र असा आणि जे काम करतोस त्यात लाज वाटण्यासारखे काहीही नसलेला असा देवाने पसंत केलेला कामकरी होण्याचा प्रयत्न कर.
16 16 पण ऐहिक वादविवाद टाळ कारण ते लोकांना देवापासून अधिकाधिक दूर नेतात.
17 17 आणि अशा प्रकारे वादविवाद करणाऱ्यांची शिकवण कर्करोगासारखी पसरते. या लोकांमध्ये हुमनाय आणि फिलेत आहेत,
18 18 जे सत्यापासून दूर गेले आहेत. ते म्हणतात की, मरणानंतरचे सर्व लोकांचे पुनरुत्थान आधीच झाले आहे व ते काही लोकांच्या विश्वासाचा नाश करीत आहेत.
19 19 तथापि देवाने घातलेला भक्क म पाया त्यावर असलेला शिक्का यासह स्थिर राहतो. “प्रभु जे त्याचे आहेत त्यांना ओळखतो.”“ जो कोणी प्रभूचे नाव घेतो त्याने वाईटापासून वळलेच पाहिजे.”
20 20 मोठ्या घरात केवळ सोन्याचांदीची भांडी असतात असे नाही तर लाकूड व माती यापासून बनविलेलीही असतात. काही प्रतिष्ठेच्या कामात वापरण्यासाठी असतात तर दुसरी काही कनिष्ठ प्रतीच्या कामी वापरण्यासाठी नेमलेली असतात.
21 21 म्हणून जर मनुष्य या अशुद्धतेपासून स्वत:ला शुद्ध करील तर तो मानसन्मानस योग्य असे भांडे होईल व धन्यासाठी प्रत्येकसमर्पित कामासाठी पवित्र केलेले व उपयुक्त पात्र होईल.
22 22 पण तरुणपणाच्या वासनांपासून दूर पळ जे प्रभूला शुद्ध अंत:करणाने हाक मारतात व प्रभूवर विश्वास ठेवतात, अशांच्या बरोबर, नीतिमत्त्व, विश्वास, प्रीति आणि शांति यांच्या मागे लाग.
23 23 नेहमी मूर्ख व निरर्थक अशा वादविवादापासून दूर राहा. कारण तुला माहीत आहे की, त्यामुळे भांडणे निर्माण होतात.
24 24 देवाच्या सेवकाने भांडू नये, तर सर्व लोकांशी दयाधर्माने वागावे तसेच शिक्षणात कुशल व सहनशील असावे.
25 25 जे त्याला विरोध करतात, त्यांना विनयाने शिक्षण द्यावे या आशेने की देवाने त्यांना पश्चात्ताप करण्यास सहाय्य करावे आणि त्यांना सत्याची ओळख व्हावी.
26 26 ते शुद्धीवर यावेत व सैतानाच्या सापळ्यांतून जेथे सैतानाने त्यांना त्याच्या इच्छेप्रमाणे करण्यासाठी ठेवले आहे, तेथून त्यांची सुटका व्हावी.
