4. எங்கே மாடுகள் இல்லையோ (அங்கே) தொழுவம் இல்லை. வெள்ளாண்மை எங்கே மிகுதியோ அங்கே மாட்டின் பலம் வெளியாகின்றது.

6. கேலி செய்பவன் ஞானத்தைத் தேடினும் கண்டுபிடியான். விவேகிகளுக்கோ போதகம் எளிதாம்.

8. தம் நெறியை அறிதல் விவேகமுள்ளவர்களின் ஞானமாம். மதியீனரின் அவிவேகம் அலைதலாம்.

9. மதியீனன் பாவத்தைக் கேலி செய்கிறான். பரிசுத்தமோ நீதிமான்களிடம் நிலைகொள்ளும்.

10. எவன் தன் ஆன்மாவின் துயரத்தைக் கண்டு பிடித்தானோ, அவன் இதயத்தின் மகிழ்ச்சியிலே அன்னியன் கலந்துகொள்ள மாட்டான்.

11. அக்கிரமிகளின் வீடு அழிக்கப்படும். நீதிமான்களின் கூடாரங்களோ மேலோங்கி வளரும்.

12. மனிதனுக்குச் சரியெனக் காணப்படுகிற பழி உண்டு. அதன் முடிவுகளோ மரணத்துக்குக் கூட்டிச் செல்கின்றன.

13. சிரிப்பு துன்பத்துடன் கலந்திருக்கும். மகிழ்ச்சி அற்றுப் போகவே அழுகை வரும்.

14. மதியீனன் தன் (அக்கிரமச்) செயல்களால் நிறைவு கொள்வான். நீதிமான் அவனைக் காட்டிலும் அதிக நிறைவு கொள்வான்.

15. கபடமற்றவன் எவ்வார்த்தையையும் நம்புகிறான். விவேகமுள்ளவனோ தன் அடிச்சுவடுகளைக் கவனிக்கிறான். வஞ்சகனான மகன் எதிலும் விருத்தி அடையான். ஞானமுள்ள அடிமைக்கோ (தன்) செயல்கள் அனுகூலமாயிருக்கும். வழியும் சீராகும்.

16. ஞானி பயந்து தீமையினின்று விலகுகிறான். மதியீனனோ (தன்னை) நம்பிக்கொண்டு (தீமையைப்) புறக்கணிக்கிறான்.

16. A wise H2450 man feareth H3373 , and departeth H5493 from evil H4480 H7451 : but the fool H3684 rageth H5674 , and is confident H982 .

17. பொறுமையில்லாதவன் மதியீனமாய் நடப்பான். கபடமுள்ள மனிதனோ பகைக்கப்படுவான்.

17. He that is soon H7116 angry H639 dealeth H6213 foolishly H200 : and a man H376 of wicked devices H4209 is hated H8130 .

18. சிற்றறிவுடையோர் மதியீனத்தை உரிமை கொள்வார்கள். விவேகமுடையோர் அறிவுக் கலையை எதிர்கொள்வார்கள்.

19. தீயோர் நல்லோர் முன்னும், அக்கிரமிகள் நீதிமான்களுடைய வாயிற்படியின் முன்னும் வீழ்ந்து கிடப்பார்கள்.

20. வறியவன் தன் உறவினர்களால் (முதலாய்ப்) பகைக்கப்படுவான். செல்வர்க்கு நண்பர் பலராம்.

20. The poor H7326 is hated H8130 even H1571 of his own neighbor H7453 : but the rich H6223 hath many H7227 friends H157 .

21. தன் அயலானைப் புறக்கணிக்கிறவன் பாவம் செய்கிறான். ஏழைக்கு இரங்குகிறவன் பேறு பெற்றவன் ஆவான். ஆண்டவர்பால் நம்பிக்கையாய் இருக்கிறவன் இரக்கத்தை நேசிக்கிறான்.

21. He that despiseth H936 his neighbor H7453 sinneth H2398 : but he that hath mercy on H2603 the poor H6035 , happy H835 is he.

22. தீமையைச் செய்கிறவர்கள் தவறிப்போகிறார்கள். இரக்கமும் உண்மையும் நலங்களை விளைவிக்கின்றன.

23. எவ்வகைத் தொழிலும் செல்வம் உண்டு. மிகு பேச்சு எங்கேயோ அங்கே பெரும்பாலும் வறுமை உண்டாகும்.

24. ஞானிகளுடைய செல்வமே அவர்களுடைய மகுடமாம். மூடரின் பைத்தியம் அவிவேகமாம்.

25. உண்மையுள்ள சாட்சியம் ஆன்மாக்களை விடுவிக்கிறது. வஞ்சகமுள்ளவன் அபத்தத்தைக் கக்குகிறான்.

25. A true H571 witness H5707 delivereth H5337 souls H5315 : but a deceitful H4820 witness speaketh H6315 lies H3577 .

26. ஆண்டவர்பாலுள்ள அச்சம் வலிமையின் நம்பிக்கையாம். அவனுடைய புதல்வருக்கும் அந்த நம்பிக்கை இருக்கும்.

27. (ஏனென்றால்), ஆண்டவர்பாலுள்ள அச்சம் மரண நாசத்தினின்று விடுதலை செய்யும் வாழ்வின் ஊற்றாம்.

27. The fear H3374 of the LORD H3068 is a fountain H4726 of life H2416 , to depart H5493 from the snares H4480 H4170 of death H4194 .

28. குடிகளின் மிகுதியில் அரசனின் மேன்மை. குடிககளின் குறைவில் அரசனின் வீழ்ச்சி.

29. பொறுமையாய் இருக்கிறவன் மிகுந்த விவேகத்தைக் காட்டுகிறான். பொறுமையற்றவனோ தன் மதியீனத்தை எடுத்துக் காட்டுகிறான்.

30. மனத்தூய்மை உடலுக்கு நலமாம். பொறாமையோ எலும்புகளை அழுகச் செய்யும்.

31. எளியவனை வருத்துகிறவன் அவனைப் படைத்தவரை அவமானப்படுத்துகிறான். ஏழைக்கு இரங்குகிறவனோ அவரை மகிமைப்படுத்துகிறான்.

32. அக்கிரமி தன் அக்கிரமத்திலேயே தள்ளப்படுவான். நீதிமானோ தன் மரணத்திலே நம்பியிருக்கிறான்.

33. விவேகியின் இதயத்தில் ஞானம் தங்குகிறது. அவனே அறிவில்லாதவர்கள் அனைவரையும் படிப்பிப்பான்.

33. Wisdom H2451 resteth H5117 in the heart H3820 of him that hath understanding H995 : but that which is in the midst H7130 of fools H3684 is made known H3045 .

34. நீதி மனிதனை உயர்த்துகிறது. பாவமோ அவனுக்குக் கேடு விளைவிக்கிறது.

35. அறிவுள்ள அமைச்சன் அரசனால் விரும்பப்படுகிறான். பயணற்றவன் அவனுடைய கோபத்திற்கு உள்ளாவான்.

35. The king H4428 's favor H7522 is toward a wise H7919 servant H5650 : but his wrath H5678 is H1961 against him that causeth shame H954 .
