2 Corinthians 5:1 (NIRV) New International Reader's Version

1 We know that the earthly tent we live in will be destroyed. But we have a building made by God. It is a house in heaven that lasts forever. Human hands did not build it.
2 During our time on earth we groan. We long to put on our house in heaven as if it were clothing.
3 Then we will not be naked.
4 While we live in this tent of ours, we groan under our heavy load. We don't want to be naked. We want to be dressed with our house in heaven. What must die will be swallowed up by life.
5 God has made us for that very purpose. He has given us the Holy Spirit as a down payment. The Spirit makes us sure of what is still to come.
6 So here is what we can always be certain about. As long as we are at home in our bodies, we are away from the Lord.
7 We live by believing, not by seeing.
8 We are certain about that. We would rather be away from our bodies and at home with the Lord.
9 So we try our best to please him. We want to please him whether we are at home in our bodies or away from them.
10 We must all stand in front of Christ to be judged. Each one of us will be judged for the good things and the bad things we do while we are in our bodies. Then each of us will receive what we are supposed to get.
11 We know what it means to have respect for the Lord. So we try to help other people to understand it. What we are is plain to God. I hope it is also plain to your way of thinking.
12 We are not trying to make an appeal to you again. But we are giving you a chance to take pride in us. Then you can answer those who take pride in how people look rather than in what is really in their hearts.
13 Are we out of our minds? That is because we want to serve God. Does what we say make sense? That is because we want to serve you.
14 Christ's love controls us. We are sure that one person died for everyone. And so everyone died.
15 Christ died for everyone. He died so that those who live should not live for themselves anymore. They should live for Christ. He died for them and was raised again.
16 So from now on we don't look at anyone the way the world does. At one time we looked at Christ in that way. But we don't anymore.
17 Anyone who believes in Christ is a new creation. The old is gone! The new has come!
18 It is all from God. He brought us back to himself through Christ's death on the cross. And he has given us the task of bringing others back to him through Christ.
19 God was bringing the world back to himself through Christ. He did not hold people's sins against them. God has trusted us with the message that people may be brought back to him.
20 So we are Christ's official messengers. It is as if God were making his appeal through us. Here is what Christ wants us to beg you to do. Come back to God!
21 Christ didn't have any sin. But God made him become sin for us. So we can be made right with God because of what Christ has done for us.

2 For G1063 CONJ in G1722 PREP this G5129 D-DSN we G2532 CONJ groan G4727 V-PAI-1P , earnestly desiring G1971 V-PAP-NPM to be clothed upon G1902 V-AMN with our G3588 T-ASN house G3613 N-ASN which G3588 T-ASN is from G1537 PREP heaven G3772 N-GSM :
3 If so be G1489 COND that G2532 CONJ being clothed G1746 V-AMP-NPM we shall not G3756 PRT-N be found G2147 V-FPI-1P naked G1131 A-NPM .
4 For G3588 T-NPM we that are G5607 V-PXP-NPM in G1722 PREP this tabernacle G4636 N-DSN do groan G4727 V-PAI-1P , being burdened G916 V-PPP-NPM : not G3756 PRT-N for that PREP we would G2309 V-PAI-1P be unclothed G1562 V-AMN , but G235 CONJ clothed upon G1902 V-AMN , that G3588 T-NSN mortality G2349 A-NSN might be swallowed up G2666 V-APS-3S of G3588 T-GSF life G2222 N-GSF .
5 Now G1161 CONJ he that hath wrought G2716 V-ADP-NSM us G2248 P-1AP for G1519 PREP the selfsame thing G846 P-ASN is God G2316 N-NSM , who also hath given G1325 V-2AAP-NSM unto us G2254 P-1DP the G3588 T-ASM earnest G728 N-ASM of G3588 T-GSN the G3588 T-GSN Spirit G4151 N-GSN .
6 Therefore G3767 CONJ we are always G3842 ADV confident G2292 V-PAP-NPM , knowing G1492 V-RAP-NPM that G3754 CONJ , whilst we are at home G1736 V-PAP-NPM in G1722 PREP the G3588 T-DSN body G4983 N-DSN , we are absent G1553 V-PAI-1P from G575 PREP the G3588 T-GSM Lord G2962 N-GSM :
7 ( CONJ For CONJ we walk G4043 V-PAI-1P by G1223 PREP faith G4102 N-GSF , not G3756 PRT-N by G1223 PREP sight G1491 N-GSN : )
8 We are confident G2292 V-PAI-1P , I say , and G2532 CONJ willing G2106 V-PAI-1P rather G3123 ADV to be absent G1553 V-AAN from G1537 PREP the G3588 T-GSN body G4983 N-GSN , and G2532 CONJ to be present G1736 V-AAN with G4314 PREP the G3588 T-ASM Lord G2962 N-ASM .
9 Wherefore G1352 CONJ we G2532 CONJ labor G5389 V-PNI-1P , that , whether G1535 CONJ present G1736 V-PAP-NPM or G1535 CONJ absent G1553 V-PAP-NPM , we may be G1511 V-PXN accepted G2101 A-NPM of him G846 P-DSM .
10 For G1063 CONJ we G2248 P-1AP must G1163 V-PQI-3S all G3956 A-APM appear G5319 V-APN before G1715 PREP the G3588 T-GSN judgment seat G968 N-GSN of Christ G5547 N-GSM ; that G2443 CONJ every one G1538 A-NSM may receive G2865 V-AMS-3S the G3588 T-APN things G3588 T-GSN done in G1223 PREP his body G4983 N-GSN , according G4314 PREP to that G3739 R-APN he hath done G4238 V-AAI-3S , whether G1535 CONJ it be good G18 A-ASN or G1535 CONJ bad G2556 A-ASN .
11 Knowing G1492 V-RAP-NPM therefore G3767 CONJ the G3588 T-ASM terror G5401 N-ASM of G3588 T-GSM the G3588 T-GSM Lord G2962 N-GSM , we persuade G3982 V-PAI-1P men G444 N-APM ; but G1161 CONJ we are made manifest G5319 V-RPI-1P unto God G2316 N-DSM ; and G1161 CONJ I trust G1679 V-PAI-1S also G2532 CONJ are made manifest G5319 V-RPN in G1722 PREP your G3588 T-DPF consciences G4893 N-DPF .
12 For G1063 CONJ we commend G4921 V-PAI-1P not G3756 PRT-N ourselves G1438 F-3APM again G3825 ADV unto you G5213 P-2DP , but G235 CONJ give G1325 V-PAP-NPM you G5213 P-2DP occasion G874 N-ASF to glory G2745 N-GSN on our behalf G5228 PREP , that G2443 CONJ ye may have G2192 V-PAS-2P somewhat to G4314 PREP answer them G3588 T-APM which G3588 T-APM glory G2744 V-PNP-APM in G1722 PREP appearance G4383 N-DSN , and G2532 CONJ not G3756 PRT-N in heart G2588 N-DSF .
13 For G1063 CONJ whether G1535 CONJ we be beside ourselves G1839 V-2AAI-1P , it is to God G2316 N-DSM : or whether G1535 CONJ we be sober G4993 V-PAI-1P , it is for your cause G5213 P-2DP .
14 For G1063 CONJ the G3588 T-NSF love G26 N-NSF of Christ G5547 N-GSM constraineth G4912 V-PAI-3S us G2248 P-1AP ; because we thus G5124 D-ASN judge G2919 V-AAP-APM , that G3754 CONJ if G1487 COND one G1520 A-NSM died G599 V-2AAI-3S for G5228 PREP all G3956 A-GPM , then G686 PRT were all dead G599 V-2AAI-3P :
15 And G2532 CONJ that he died G599 V-2AAI-3S for G5228 PREP all G3956 A-GPM , that G3588 T-NPM they which live G2198 V-PAP-NPM should not henceforth G3371 ADV live G2198 V-PAS-3P unto themselves G1438 F-3DPM , but G235 CONJ unto him G3588 T-DSM which G3588 T-DSM died G599 V-2AAP-DSM for G5228 PREP them G846 P-GPM , and G2532 CONJ rose again G1453 V-APP-DSM .
16 Wherefore G5620 CONJ henceforth G575 PREP know G1492 V-RAI-1P we G2249 P-1NP no man G3762 A-ASM after G2596 PREP the flesh G4561 N-ASF : yea G1161 CONJ , though G1499 we have known G1097 V-RAI-1P Christ G5547 N-ASM after G2596 PREP the flesh G4561 N-ASF , yet G235 CONJ now G3568 ADV henceforth know G1097 V-PAI-1P we him no more G3765 ADV .
17 Therefore G5620 CONJ if any man G1536 be in G1722 PREP Christ G5547 N-DSM , he is a new G2537 A-NSF creature G2937 N-NSF : old things G744 A-NPN are passed away G3928 V-2AAI-3S ; behold G2400 V-2AAM-2S , all things G3956 A-NPN are become G1096 V-2RAI-3S new G2537 A-NPN .
18 And G1161 CONJ all things G3956 A-NPN are of G3588 T-GSM God G2316 N-GSM , who hath reconciled G2644 V-AAP-GSM us G2248 P-1AP to himself G1438 F-3DSM by G1223 PREP Jesus G2424 N-GSM Christ G5547 N-GSM , and G2532 CONJ hath given G1325 V-2AAP-GSM to us G2254 P-1DP the G3588 T-ASF ministry G1248 N-ASF of reconciliation G2643 N-GSF ;
19 To wit G5613 ADV , that G3754 CONJ God G2316 N-NSM was G2258 V-IXI-3S in G1722 PREP Christ G5547 N-DSM , reconciling G2644 V-PAP-NSM the world G2889 N-ASM unto himself G1438 F-3DSM , not G3361 PRT-N imputing G3049 V-PNP-NSM their G3588 T-APN trespasses G3900 N-APN unto them G846 P-GPM ; and G2532 CONJ hath committed G5087 V-2AMP-NSM unto G1722 PREP us G2254 P-1DP the G3588 T-ASM word G3056 N-ASM of reconciliation G2643 N-GSF .
20 Now then G3767 CONJ we are ambassadors G4243 V-PAI-1P for G5228 PREP Christ G5547 N-GSM , as though G5613 ADV God G2316 N-GSM did beseech G3870 V-PAP-GSM you by G1223 PREP us G2257 P-1GP ; we pray G1189 V-PNI-1P you in Christ\'s stead G5228 PREP , be ye G3588 T-DSM reconciled G2644 V-2APM-2P to God G2316 N-DSM .
21 For G1063 CONJ he hath made G4160 V-AAI-3S him to be sin G266 N-ASF for G5228 PREP us G2257 P-1GP , who knew G1097 V-2AAP-ASM no G3361 PRT-N sin G266 N-ASF ; that G2443 CONJ we G2249 P-1NP might be made G1096 V-2ADS-1P the righteousness G1343 N-NSF of God G2316 N-GSM in G1722 PREP him G846 P-DSM .
