Numbers 34:1 (NIRV) New International Reader's Version

1 The Lord spoke to Moses. He said,
2 "Give the people of Israel a command. Tell them, 'You are going to enter Canaan. The land will be given to you as your own. Here are the borders it will have.
3 " 'Your southern border will include some of the Desert of Zin. It will be along the border of Edom. On the east, your southern border will start from the end of the Dead Sea.
4 It will cross south of Scorpion Pass. It will continue on to Zin. From there it will go south of Kadesh Barnea. Then it will go to Hazar Addar and over to Azmon.
5 There it will turn and join the Wadi of Egypt. It will come to an end at the Mediterranean Sea.
6 " 'Your western border will be the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. That will be your border on the west.
7 " 'For your northern border, run a line from the Mediterranean Sea to Mount Hor.
8 Continue it from Mount Hor to Lebo Hamath. Then the border will go to Zedad.
9 It will continue to Ziphron. It will come to an end at Hazar Enan. That will be your border on the north.
10 " 'For your eastern border, run a line from Hazar Enan to Shepham.
11 The border will go down from Shepham to Riblah. Riblah is on the east side of Ain. From there the border will continue along the slopes east of the Sea of Galilee.
12 Then the border will go down along the Jordan River. It will come to an end at the Dead Sea. " 'That will be your land. And those will be its borders on every side.' "
13 Moses gave the people of Israel a command. He said, "Use lots when you give out the land. Each tribe will have its own share. The Lord has ordered it to be given to the nine and a half tribes.
14 "The families of the tribes of Reuben and Gad have already received their shares. The families of half of the tribe of Manasseh have also received their share.
15 Those two and a half tribes have received their shares east of the Jordan River. It flows near Jericho. Their land is toward the sunrise."
16 The Lord spoke to Moses. He said,
17 "Here are the names of the men who will give out the shares of the land to your people. They are the priest Eleazar and Joshua, the son of Nun.
18 Also appoint one leader from each tribe to help give out the land.
19 Here are their names. "Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, is from the tribe of Judah.
20 Shemuel, the son of Ammihud, is from the tribe of Simeon.
21 Elidad, the son of Kislon, is from the tribe of Benjamin.
22 Bukki, the son of Jogli, is the leader from the tribe of Dan.
23 Hanniel, the son of Ephod, is the leader from the tribe of Manasseh. Manasseh was the son of Joseph.
24 Kemuel, the son of Shiphtan, is the leader from the tribe of Ephraim. Ephraim was the son of Joseph.
25 Elizaphan, the son of Parnach, is the leader from the tribe of Zebulun.
26 Paltiel, the son of Azzan, is the leader from the tribe of Issachar.
27 Ahihud, the son of Shelomi, is the leader from the tribe of Asher.
28 Pedahel, the son of Ammihud, is the leader from the tribe of Naphtali."
29 Those are the men the Lord commanded to give out the shares of the land. They were commanded to give them to Israel in the land of Canaan.
1 And the LORD H3068 EDS spoke H1696 W-VPY3MS unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 , saying H559 ,
2 Command H6680 the children H1121 of Israel H3478 , and say H559 unto H413 PREP them , When H3588 CONJ ye H859 PPRO-2MS come H935 into H413 PREP the land H776 D-GFS of Canaan H3667 EMS ; ( DPRO this H2063 DPRO is the land H776 D-GFS that H834 RPRO shall fall H5307 unto you for an inheritance H5159 , even the land H776 GFS of Canaan H3667 LMS with the coasts H1367 thereof : )
3 Then your south H5045 quarter H6285 shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS from the wilderness H4057 of Zin H6790 along by H5921 PREP the coast H3027 CFD of Edom H123 , and your south H5045 border H1366 CMS shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS the outermost coast H7097 M-CMS of the salt H4417 sea H3220 NMS eastward H6924 :
4 And your border H1366 shall turn H5437 from the south H5045 M-EFS to the ascent H4608 of Akrabbim H6137 , and pass on H5674 to Zin H6790 : and the going forth H8444 thereof shall be H1961 from the south H5045 M-EFS to Kadesh H6947 - barnea , and shall go on H3318 to Hazar H2692 - addar , and pass on H5674 to Azmon H6111 :
5 And the border H1366 shall fetch a compass H5437 from Azmon H6111 unto the river H5158 of Egypt H4714 , and the goings out H8444 of it shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS at the sea H3220 .
6 And as for the western H3220 NMS border H1366 , ye shall even have H1961 W-VQQ3MS the great H1419 D-AMS sea H3220 D-NMS for a border H1366 : this H2088 shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS your west H3220 NMS border H1366 CMS .
7 And this H2088 W-PMS shall be H1961 VQY3MS your north H6828 NFS border H1366 CMS : from H4480 PREP the great H1419 D-AMS sea H3220 D-NMS ye shall point out H8376 for you mount H2022 Hor H2023 :
8 From mount H2022 Hor H2023 ye shall point out H8376 your border unto the entrance H935 of Hamath H2574 ; and the goings forth H8444 of the border H1366 shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS to Zedad H6657 :
9 And the border H1366 shall go on H3318 to Ziphron H2202 , and the goings out H8444 of it shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS at Hazar H2704 - enan : this H2088 shall be H1961 VQY3MS your north H6828 border H1366 CMS .
10 And ye shall point out H184 your east H6924 border H1366 from Hazar H2704 - enan to Shepham H8221 :
11 And the coast H1366 shall go down H3381 from Shepham H8221 to Riblah H7247 , on the east side H6924 M-NMS of Ain H5871 ; and the border H1366 shall descend H3381 , and shall reach H4229 unto H5921 PREP the side H3802 of the sea H3220 NMS of Chinnereth H3672 eastward H6924 :
12 And the border H1366 shall go down H3381 to Jordan H3383 , and the goings out H8444 of it shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS at the salt H4417 sea H3220 NMS : this H2063 DPRO shall be H1961 VQY3FS your land H776 D-GFS with the coasts H1367 thereof round about H5439 .
13 And Moses H4872 commanded H6680 W-VPY3MS the children H1121 of Israel H3478 , saying H559 L-VQFC , This H2063 DPRO is the land H776 D-GFS which H834 RPRO ye shall inherit H5157 by lot H1486 , which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS commanded H6680 VPQ3MS to give H5414 L-VQFC unto the nine H8672 tribes H4294 , and to the half H2677 tribe H4294 :
14 For H3588 CONJ the tribe H4294 of the children H1121 CMP of Reuben H7206 according to the house H1004 of their fathers H1 , and the tribe H4294 of the children H1121 of Gad H1410 according to the house H1004 of their fathers H1 , have received H3947 their inheritance ; and half H2677 the tribe H4294 of Manasseh H4519 have received H3947 their inheritance H5159 :
15 The two H8147 ONUM tribes H4294 and the half H2677 tribe H4294 have received H3947 their inheritance H5159 on this side H5676 M-CMS Jordan H3383 near Jericho H3405 eastward H6924 , toward the sunrising H4217 .
16 And the LORD H3068 EDS spoke H1696 W-VPY3MS unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 , saying H559 ,
17 These H428 PMP are the names H8034 of the men H376 which H834 RPRO shall divide H5157 the land H776 D-GFS unto you : Eleazar H499 the priest H3548 , and Joshua H3091 the son H1121 of Nun H5126 .
18 And ye shall take H3947 one prince H259 MMS of every tribe H4294 , to divide the land by inheritance H5157 .
19 And the names H8034 of the men H376 are these H428 W-PMP : Of the tribe H4294 of Judah H3063 , Caleb H3612 the son H1121 of Jephunneh H3312 .
20 And of the tribe H4294 of the children H1121 of Simeon H8095 , Shemuel H8050 the son H1121 of Ammihud H5989 .
21 Of the tribe H4294 of Benjamin H1144 , Elidad H449 the son H1121 of Chislon H3692 .
22 And the prince H5387 of the tribe H4294 of the children H1121 CMP of Dan H1835 , Bukki H1231 the son H1121 CMP of Jogli H3020 .
23 The prince H5387 of the children H1121 L-CMP of Joseph H3130 , for the tribe H4294 of the children H1121 of Manasseh H4519 , Hanniel H2592 the son H1121 L-CMP of Ephod H641 .
24 And the prince H5387 of the tribe H4294 of the children H1121 of Ephraim H669 , Kemuel H7055 the son H1121 of Shiphtan H8204 .
25 And the prince H5387 of the tribe H4294 of the children H1121 of Zebulun H2074 , Elizaphan H469 the son H1121 of Parnach H6535 .
26 And the prince H5387 of the tribe H4294 of the children H1121 of Issachar H3485 , Paltiel H6409 the son H1121 of Azzan H5821 .
27 And the prince H5387 of the tribe H4294 of the children H1121 CMP of Asher H836 , Ahihud H282 the son H1121 CMP of Shelomi H8015 .
28 And the prince H5387 of the tribe H4294 of the children H1121 of Naphtali H5321 , Pedahel H6300 the son H1121 of Ammihud H5989 .
29 These H428 PMP are they whom H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS commanded H6680 VPQ3MS to divide the inheritance H5157 unto the children H1121 of Israel H3478 in the land H776 B-GFS of Canaan H3667 LMS .
