Amos 9:1 (AMP) Amplified Bibles

1 I SAW the Lord standing at the altar, and He said, Smite the tops of the pillars until the thresholds tremble, and shatter them on the heads of all of the people; and the remainder of them I will slay with the sword. He who flees of them shall not get away, and he who escapes of them shall not be delivered.
2 Though they dig into Sheol (Hades, the dark abode of the gathered dead), from there shall My hand take them; though they climb up to heaven the abode of light, from there will I bring them down;
3 And though they hide themselves on the top of Mount Carmel, from there I will search out and take them; and though they try to hide from My sight at the bottom of the sea, there I will command the serpent and it shall bite them.
4 And though they go into captivity before their enemies, there will I command the sword and it shall slay them, and I will set My eyes upon them for evil and not for good.
5 The Lord God of hosts, it is He Who touches the earth and it melts, and all who dwell in it mourn; it shall rise like the river Nile, all of it, and it shall sink again like the Nile of Egypt.
6 It is He Who builds His upper chambers in the heavens and Who founds His vault over the earth, Who calls to the waters of the sea and pours them out on the face of the earth--The Lord is His name.
7 You O degenerate children of Israel are no more to Me than these despised Cushites, says the Lord. I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt, but have I not also brought the Philistines out of Caphtor and the Syrians from Kir?
8 Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are upon the sinful kingdom of Israel's ten tribes and I will destroy it from the surface of the ground, except that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, says the Lord.
9 For behold, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations and cause it to move to and fro as grain is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least kernel fall upon the earth and be lost from My sight. Lev. 26:33; Deut. 28:64; Hos. 9:17.
10 All the sinners of My people shall die by the sword, who say, The evil shall not overtake or meet and assail us.
11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David, the fallen hut or booth, and close up its breaches; and I will raise up its ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old,
12 That they may possess the remnant of Edom and of all the nations that are called by My name, says the Lord Who does this. Acts 15:15-17.
13 Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him who sows the seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine and all the hills shall melt that is, everything heretofore barren and unfruitful shall overflow with spiritual blessing. Lev. 26:5; Joel 3:18.
14 And I will bring back the exiles of My people Israel, and they shall build the waste cities and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards and drink the wine from them; they shall also make gardens and eat the fruit of them.
15 And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be torn up out of their land which I gave them, says the Lord your God.
1 I saw H7200 VQQ1MS the Lord H136 EDS standing H5324 upon H5921 PREP the altar H4196 D-NMS : and he said H559 W-VQY3MS , Smite H5221 the lintel H3730 of the door , that the posts H5592 may shake H7493 : and cut H1214 them in the head H7218 B-NMS , all H3605 CMS-3MP of them ; and I will slay H2026 the last H319 of them with the sword H2719 : he that fleeth H5127 of them shall not H3808 ADV flee away H5127 , and he that escapeth H6412 of them shall not H3808 ADV be delivered H4422 .
2 Though H518 PART they dig H2864 into hell H7585 , thence H8033 M-ADV shall mine hand H3027 CFS-1MS take H3947 them ; though H518 PART they climb up H5927 to heaven H8064 D-NMD , thence H8033 M-ADV will I bring them down H3381 :
3 And though H518 W-PART they hide themselves H2244 in the top H7218 B-NMS of Carmel H3760 , I will search H2664 and take H3947 them out thence H8033 M-ADV ; and though H518 W-PART they be hid H5641 from M-PREP my sight H5869 CMD-1MS in the bottom H7172 of the sea H3220 D-NMS , thence H8033 M-ADV will I command H6680 the serpent H5175 D-NMS , and he shall bite H5391 them :
4 And though H518 W-PART they go H1980 into captivity H7628 before H6440 L-CMP their enemies H341 , thence H8033 M-ADV will I command H6680 the sword H2719 D-GFS , and it shall slay H2026 them : and I will set H7760 W-VQQ1MS mine eyes H5869 CMS-1MS upon H5921 PREP-3MP them for evil H7451 , and not H3808 W-NPAR for good H2896 .
5 And the Lord H136 GOD H3069 of hosts H6635 is he that toucheth H5060 the land H776 B-NFS , and it shall melt H4127 , and all H3605 NMS that dwell H3427 therein shall mourn H56 : and it shall rise up H5927 wholly H3605 NMS like a flood H2975 ; and shall be drowned H8257 , as by the flood H2975 of Egypt H4714 .
6 It is he that buildeth H1129 his stories H4609 in the heaven H8064 BD-NMP , and hath founded H3245 his troop H92 in H5921 PREP the earth H776 GFS ; he that calleth H7121 for the waters H4325 of the sea H3220 D-NMS , and poureth them out H8210 upon H5921 PREP the face H6440 CMP of the earth H776 D-GFS : The LORD H3068 EDS is his name H8034 CMS-3MS .
7 Are ye H859 PPRO-2MS not H3808 D-NPAR as children H1121 of the Ethiopians H3569 unto me , O children H1121 of Israel H3478 ? saith H5002 the LORD H3068 EDS . Have not H3808 D-NPAR I brought up H5927 Israel H3478 out of the land H776 M-NFS of Egypt H4714 EFS ? and the Philistines H6430 from Caphtor H3731 , and the Syrians H758 from Kir H7024 ?
8 Behold H2009 IJEC , the eyes H5869 CMD of the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 are upon the sinful H2400 kingdom H4467 , and I will destroy H8045 it from off H5921 M-PREP the face H6440 CMP of the earth H127 D-NFS ; saving H657 that H3588 CONJ I will not H3808 NADV utterly destroy H8045 the house H1004 CMS of Jacob H3290 , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
9 For H3588 CONJ , lo H2009 IJEC , I H595 PPRO-1MS will command H6680 , and I will sift H5128 the house H1004 CMS of Israel H3478 among all H3605 nations H1471 D-NMP , like as H834 K-RPRO corn is sifted H5128 in a sieve H3531 , yet shall not H3808 W-NPAR the least grain H6872 fall H5307 upon the earth H776 GFS .
10 All H3605 NMS the sinners H2400 of my people H5971 shall die H4191 VQY3MP by the sword H2719 , which say H559 D-VQPMP , The evil H7451 D-AFS shall not H3808 ADV overtake H5066 nor prevent H6923 us .
11 In that H1931 D-PPRO-3MS day H3117 B-AMS will I raise up H6965 the tabernacle H5521 of David H1732 that is fallen H5307 , and close up H1443 the breaches H6556 thereof ; and I will raise up H6965 his ruins H2034 , and I will build H1129 it as in the days H3117 K-CMP of old H5769 NMS :
12 That H4616 L-CONJ they may possess H3423 the remnant H7611 of Edom H123 , and of all H3605 W-CMS the heathen H1471 D-NMP , which H834 RPRO are called by my name H8034 , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 EDS that doeth H6213 VQPMS this H2063 DPRO .
13 Behold H2009 IJEC , the days H3117 NMP come H935 , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 EDS , that the plowman H2790 shall overtake H5066 the reaper H7114 , and the treader H1869 of grapes H6025 him that soweth H4900 seed H2233 ; and the mountains H2022 shall drop H5197 sweet wine H6071 , and all H3605 W-CMS the hills H1389 shall melt H4127 .
14 And I will bring again H7725 the captivity H7622 of my people H5971 of Israel H3478 , and they shall build H1129 the waste H8074 cities H5892 GFP , and inhabit H3427 them ; and they shall plant H5193 vineyards H3754 , and drink H8354 the wine H3196 thereof ; they shall also make H6213 W-VQQ3MP gardens H1593 , and eat H398 the fruit H6529 of them .
15 And I will plant H5193 them upon H5921 PREP their land H127 , and they shall no H3808 W-NPAR more H5750 ADV be pulled up H5428 out of PREP their land H127 which H834 RPRO I have given H5414 VQQ1MS them , saith H559 VQQ3MS the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 .
