Exodus 19:1 (AMP) Amplified Bibles

1 IN THE third month after the Israelites left the land of Egypt, the same day, they came into the Wilderness of Sinai.
2 When they had departed from Rephidim and had come to the Wilderness of Sinai, they encamped there before the mountain.
3 And Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him out of the mountain, Say this to the house of Jacob and tell the Israelites:
4 You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to Myself.
5 Now therefore, if you will obey My voice in truth and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own peculiar possession and treasure from among and above all peoples; for all the earth is Mine.
6 And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests, a holy nation consecrated, set apart to the worship of God. These are the words you shall speak to the Israelites.
7 So Moses called for the elders of the people and told them all these words which the Lord commanded him.
8 And all the people answered together, and said, All that the Lord has spoken we will do. And Moses reported the words of the people to the Lord.
9 And the Lord said to Moses, Behold, I come to you in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you and believe you and remain steadfast forever. Then Moses told the words of the people to the Lord.
10 And the Lord said to Moses, Go and sanctify the people set them apart for God today and tomorrow, and let them wash their clothes
11 And be ready by the third day, for the third day the Lord will come down upon Mount Sinai in the cloud in the sight of all the people.
12 And you shall set bounds for the people round about, saying, Take heed that you go not up into the mountain or touch the border of it. Whoever touches the mountain shall surely be put to death.
13 No hand shall touch it or the offender, but he shall surely be stoned or shot with arrows; whether beast or man, he shall not live. When the trumpet sounds a long blast, they shall come up to the mountain. Num. 24:8.
14 So Moses went down from the mountain to the people and sanctified them set them apart for God, and they washed their clothes.
15 And he said to the people, Be ready by the day after tomorrow; do not go near a woman.
16 The third morning there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast, so that all the people in the camp trembled.
17 Then Moses brought the people from the camp to meet God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.
18 Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke, for the Lord descended upon it in fire; its smoke ascended like that of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.
19 As the trumpet blast grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and God answered him with a voice. Deut. 4:12.
20 The Lord came down upon Mount Sinai to the top of the mountain, and the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.
21 The Lord said to Moses, Go down and warn the people, lest they break through to the Lord to gaze and many of them perish.
22 And also let the priests, who come near to the Lord, sanctify (set apart) themselves for God, lest the Lord break forth against them.
23 And Moses said to the Lord, The people cannot come up to Mount Sinai, for You Yourself charged us, saying, Set bounds about the mountain and sanctify it set it apart for God.
24 Then the Lord said to him, Go, get down and you shall come up, you and Aaron with you; but let not the priests and the people break through to come up to the Lord, lest He break forth against them.
25 So Moses went down to the people and told them.
1 In the third H7992 D-ONUM month H2320 BD-NMS , when the children H1121 of Israel H3478 were gone forth H3318 out of the land H776 M-NFS of Egypt H4714 , the same H2088 D-PMS day H3117 B-AMS came H935 VQQ3MP they into the wilderness H4057 of Sinai H5514 .
2 For they were departed H5265 from Rephidim H7508 , and were come H935 W-VQY3MP to the desert H4057 of Sinai H5514 , and had pitched H2583 in the wilderness H4057 ; and there H8033 ADV Israel H3478 camped H2583 before H5048 the mount H2022 .
3 And Moses H4872 went up H5927 unto H413 PREP God H430 D-EDP , and the LORD H3068 EDS called H7121 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP-3MS him out of H4480 PREP the mountain H2022 , saying H559 L-VQFC , Thus H3541 shalt thou say H559 VQY2MS to the house H1004 of Jacob H3290 , and tell H5046 the children H1121 L-CMP of Israel H3478 LMS ;
4 Ye H859 PPRO-2MS have seen H7200 what H834 RPRO I did H6213 VQQ1MS unto the Egyptians H4714 , and how I bore H5375 you on H5921 PREP eagles H5404 \' wings H3671 , and brought H935 you unto H413 myself .
5 Now H6258 W-ADV therefore , if H518 PART ye will obey my voice indeed H8085 VQFA , and keep H8104 my covenant H1285 B-CFS-1MS , then ye shall be H1961 W-VQQ2MP a peculiar treasure H5459 unto me above all H3605 NMS people H5971 : for H3588 CONJ all H3605 NMS the earth H776 D-GFS is mine :
6 And ye H859 W-PPRO-2MP shall be H1961 unto me a kingdom H4467 of priests H3548 NMP , and a holy H6918 nation H1471 . These H428 PMP are the words H1697 AMP which H834 RPRO thou shalt speak H1696 unto H413 PREP the children H1121 of Israel H3478 LMS .
7 And Moses H4872 came H935 W-VQY3MS and called H7121 W-VQY3MS for the elders H2205 of the people H5971 , and laid H7760 W-VQY3MS before their faces H6440 L-CMP-3MP all H3605 NMS these H428 D-DPRO-3MP words H1697 AMP which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS commanded H6680 VPQ3MS-3MS him .
8 And all H3605 NMS the people H5971 answered H6030 together H3162 ADV-3MS , and said H559 W-VQY3MP , All H3605 NMS that H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS hath spoken H1696 VPQ3MS we will do H6213 . And Moses H4872 returned H7725 W-VHY3MS the words H1697 CMP of the people H5971 unto H413 PREP the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
9 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 , Lo H2009 IJEC , I H595 PPRO-1MS come H935 VQPMS unto H413 PREP thee in a thick H5645 cloud H6051 , that H5668 B-NMS the people H5971 may hear H8085 VQY3MS when I speak H1696 with H5973 PREP-2FS thee , and believe H539 VHY3MP thee forever H5769 L-NMS . And Moses H4872 told H5046 W-VHY3MS the words H1697 CMP of the people H5971 unto H413 PREP the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
10 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 , Go H1980 VQI2MS unto H413 PREP the people H5971 , and sanctify H6942 them today H3117 D-AMS and tomorrow H4279 , and let them wash H3526 their clothes H8071 ,
11 And be H1961 W-VQQ3MS ready H3559 against the third H7992 D-ONUM day H3117 : for H3588 CONJ the third H7992 D-ONUM day H3117 B-AMS the LORD H3068 EDS will come down H3381 in the sight H5869 of all H3605 CMS the people H5971 upon H5921 PREP mount H2022 CMS Sinai H5514 .
12 And thou shalt set bounds H1379 unto the people H5971 round about H5439 ADV , saying H559 L-VQFC , Take heed H8104 to yourselves , that ye go not up H5927 into the mount H2022 , or touch H5060 the border H7097 of it : whosoever H3605 NMS toucheth H5060 the mount H2022 shall be surely put to death H4191 VQFA :
13 There shall not H3808 NADV a hand H3027 NFS touch H5060 it , but H3588 CONJ he shall surely be stoned H5619 , or H176 CONJ shot through H3384 ; whether H518 PART it be beast H929 NFS or H518 PART man H376 NMS , it shall not H3808 NADV live H2421 : when the trumpet H3104 soundeth long H4900 , they H1992 PPRO-3MP shall come up H5927 to the mount H2022 .
14 And Moses H4872 went down H3381 W-VQY3MS from H4480 PREP the mount H2022 unto H413 PREP the people H5971 , and sanctified H6942 W-VPY3MS the people H5971 ; and they washed H3526 their clothes H8071 .
15 And he said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP the people H5971 , Be H1961 ready H3559 against the third H7969 L-BMS day H3117 NMP : come H5066 not H408 ADV at H413 PREP your wives H802 NFS .
16 And it came to pass H1961 W-VQY3MS on the third H7992 D-ONUM day H3117 in the morning H1242 , that there were H1961 thunders H6963 and lightnings H1300 , and a thick H3515 VQS3MS cloud H6051 upon H5921 PREP the mount H2022 , and the voice H6963 of the trumpet H7782 NMS exceeding H3966 ADV loud H2389 AMS ; so that all H3605 NMS the people H5971 that H834 RPRO was in the camp H4264 trembled H2729 .
17 And Moses H4872 brought forth the people H5971 out of H4480 PREP the camp H4264 to meet H7125 L-VQFC with God H430 D-NAME-4MP ; and they stood H3320 at the nether part H8482 of the mount H2022 .
18 And mount H2022 Sinai H5514 was altogether H3605 NMS on a smoke H6225 , because H6440 M-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS descended H3381 VQQ3MS upon H5921 PREP-3MS it in fire H784 : and the smoke H6227 thereof ascended H5927 W-VHY3MS as the smoke H6227 of a furnace H3536 , and the whole H3605 NMS mount H2022 quaked H2729 greatly H3966 ADV .
19 And when H1961 W-VQY3MS the voice H6963 CMS of the trumpet H7782 sounded long H1980 VQPMS , and waxed louder and louder H3966 ADV , Moses H4872 spoke H1696 VPY3MS , and God H430 answered H6030 VQY3MS-3MS him by a voice H6963 .
20 And the LORD H3068 EDS came down H3381 W-VQY3MS upon H5921 PREP mount H2022 CMS Sinai H5514 , on H413 PREP the top H7218 NMS of the mount H2022 : and the LORD H3068 EDS called H7121 W-VQY3MS Moses H4872 up to H413 PREP the top H7218 NMS of the mount H2022 ; and Moses H4872 went up H5927 W-VHY3MS .
21 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 , Go down H3381 , charge H5749 the people H5971 , lest H6435 CONJ they break through H2040 unto H413 PREP the LORD H3068 EDS to gaze H7200 L-VQFC , and many H7227 AMS of H4480 M-PREP-3MS them perish H5307 .
22 And let the priests H3548 also H1571 W-CONJ , which come near H5066 to H413 PREP the LORD H3068 EDS , sanctify themselves H6942 , lest H6435 CONJ the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS break forth H6555 upon them .
23 And Moses H4872 said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP the LORD H3068 EDS , The people H5971 cannot H3808 NADV come up H5927 to H413 PREP mount H2022 CMS Sinai H5514 : for H3588 CONJ thou H859 PPRO-2MS chargedst H5749 us , saying H559 W-VQY3MS , Set bounds H1379 about the mount H2022 , and sanctify H6942 it .
24 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP-3MS him , Away H1980 L-PPRO-2MS , get thee down H3381 , and thou shalt come up H5927 , thou H859 PPRO-2MS , and Aaron H175 with H5973 PREP-2FS thee : but let not H408 NPAR the priests H3548 and the people H5971 break through H2040 to come up H5927 unto H413 PREP the LORD H3068 EDS , lest H6435 CONJ he break forth H6555 upon them .
25 So Moses H4872 went down H3381 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP the people H5971 , and spoke H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP them .
