Isaiah 41:1 (AMP) Amplified Bibles

1 LISTEN IN silence before Me, O islands and regions bordering on the sea! And let the people gather and renew their strength for the argument; let them offer their strongest arguments! Let them come near, then let them speak; let us come near together for judgment and decide the point at issue between us concerning the enemy advancing from the east.
2 Who has roused up one Cyrus from the east, whom He calls in righteousness to His service and whom victory meets at every step? He the Lord subdues nations before him and makes him ruler over kings. He turns them to dust with the sword of Cyrus, and to driven straw and chaff with his bow. Ezra 1:2.
3 He Cyrus pursues them and passes safely and unhindered, even by a way his feet had not trod and so swiftly that his feet do not touch the ground.
4 Who has prepared and done this, calling forth and guiding the destinies of the generations of the nations from the beginning? I, the Lord--the first existing before history began and with the last an ever-present, unchanging God--I am He.
5 The islands and coastlands have seen and fear; the ends of the earth tremble. They draw near and come;
6 They help every one his neighbor and say to his brother in his tiresome idol making, Be of good courage!
7 So the carpenter encourages the goldsmith, and he who smooths the metal with the hammer encourages him who smites the anvil, saying of the soldering, That is good! And he fastens it with nails so that it cannot be moved.
8 But you, Israel, My servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, the offspring of Abraham My friend, Heb. 2:16; James 2:23.
9 You whom I the Lord have taken from the ends of the earth and have called from the corners of it, and said to you, You are My servant--I have chosen you and not cast you off even though you are exiled.
10 Fear not there is nothing to fear, for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My victorious right hand of rightness and justice. Acts 18:10.
11 Behold, all they who are enraged and inflamed against you shall be put to shame and confounded; they who strive against you shall be as nothing and shall perish.
12 You shall seek those who contend with you but shall not find them; they who war against you shall be as nothing, as nothing at all.
13 For I the Lord your God hold your right hand; I am the Lord, Who says to you, Fear not; I will help you!
14 Fear not, you worm Jacob, you men of Israel! I will help you, says the Lord; your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.
15 Behold, I will make you to be a new, sharp, threshing instrument which has teeth; you shall thresh the mountains and beat them small, and shall make the hills like chaff.
16 You shall winnow them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the tempest or whirlwind shall scatter them. And you shall rejoice in the Lord, you shall glory in the Holy One of Israel.
17 The poor and needy are seeking water when there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. I the Lord will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.
18 I will open rivers on the bare heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.
19 I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the acacia, the myrtle, and the wild olive; I will set the cypress in the desert, the plane tree and the pine tree together,
20 That men may see and know and consider and understand together that the hand of the Lord has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.
21 You idols made by men's hands, prove your divinity! Produce your cause set forth your case, says the Lord. Bring forth your strong proofs, says the King of Jacob.
22 Let them bring them forth and tell us what is to happen. Let them tell us the former things, what they are, that we may consider them and know the outcome of them; or declare to us the things to come.
23 Tell us the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that you are gods; yes, do good or do evil something or other, that we may stare in astonishment and be dismayed as we behold the miracle together!
24 Behold, you idols are nothing, and your work is nothing! The worshiper who chooses you is an abomination extremely disgusting and shamefully vile in God's sight. I Cor. 8:4.
25 I have raised up and impelled to action one from the north Cyrus, and he comes; from the rising of the sun he calls upon My name recognizing that his victories have been granted to him by Me. And he shall tread upon rulers and deputies as upon mortar and as the potter treads clay. He comes with the suddenness of a comet, but none of the idol oracles of the nations has anticipated it. II Chron. 36:23; Ezra 1:1-3.
26 What idol has declared this from the beginning, that we could know? And beforetime, that we could say that he is unquestionably right? Yes, there is none who declares it, yes, there is none who proclaims it; yes, for the truth is, O you dumb idols there is none who hears you speak!
27 I the Lord first gave to Zion the announcement, Behold, the Jews will be restored to their own land, and the man Cyrus shall be raised up who will deliver them behold them! And to Jerusalem I gave a herald Isaiah bringing the good news. Isa. 40:9; 52:7.
28 For I look upon the heathen prophets and the priests of pagan practices and there is no man among them who could predict these events, and among these idols there is no counselor who, when I ask of him, can answer a word.
29 Behold, these pagan prophets and priests are all emptiness (falseness and futility)! Their works are worthless; their molten images are empty wind (confusion and waste).

3 He pursued H7291 them , and passed H5674 safely H7965 NMS ; even by the way H734 that he had not H3808 NADV gone H935 VQY3MS with his feet H7272 B-CFD-3MS .
4 Who H4310 IPRO hath wrought H6466 and done H6213 W-VQQ3MS it , calling H7121 VQPMS the generations H1755 from the beginning H7218 ? I H589 PPRO-1MS the LORD H3068 EDS , the first H7223 , and with H854 the last H314 AMP ; I H589 PPRO-1MS am he H1931 PPRO-3MS .
5 The isles H339 saw H7200 VQQ3MP it , and feared H3372 ; the ends H7098 CFP of the earth H776 D-GFS were afraid H2729 , drew near H7126 , and came H857 .
6 They helped H5826 every one H376 NMS his neighbor H7453 NMS-3MS ; and every one said H559 VQY3MS to his brother H251 , Be of good courage H2388 .
7 So the carpenter H2796 encouraged H2388 the goldsmith H6884 , and he that smootheth H2505 with the hammer H6360 him that smote H1986 the anvil H6471 , saying H559 , It H1931 PPRO-3MS is ready H2896 AMS for the soldering H1694 : and he fastened H2388 it with nails H4548 , that it should not H3808 NADV be moved H4131 VNY3MS .

9 Thou whom H834 RPRO I have taken H2388 from the ends H7098 of the earth H776 D-GFS , and called H7121 thee from the chief men H678 thereof , and said H559 W-VQY1MS unto thee , Thou H859 PPRO-2MS art my servant H5650 CMS-1MS ; I have chosen H977 thee , and not H3808 W-NPAR cast thee away H3988 .

12 Thou shalt seek H1245 them , and shalt not H3808 W-NPAR find H4672 them H376 CMP , even them that contended H4695 with thee : they H376 CMP that war H4421 against thee shall be H1961 VQY3MP as nothing H369 , and as a thing of naught H657 .

14 Fear H3372 not H408 NPAR , thou worm H8438 CFS Jacob H3290 , and ye men H4962 CMP of Israel H3478 ; I H589 PPRO-1MS will help H5826 thee , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 EDS , and thy redeemer H1350 , the Holy One H6918 of Israel H3478 LMS .
15 Behold H2009 IJEC , I will make H7760 thee a new H2319 sharp H2742 NMS threshing instrument H4173 having H1167 CMS teeth H6374 : thou shalt thresh H1758 the mountains H2022 NMP , and beat them small H1854 , and shalt make H7760 the hills H1389 as chaff H4671 K-NMS .
16 Thou shalt fan H2219 them , and the wind H7307 W-GFS shall carry them away H5375 , and the whirlwind H5591 shall scatter H6327 them : and thou H859 W-PPRO-2MS shalt rejoice H1523 in the LORD H3068 , and shalt glory H1984 in the Holy One H6918 of Israel H3478 .
17 When the poor H6041 and needy H34 seek H1245 water H4325 OMD , and there is none H369 W-NPAR , and their tongue H3956 faileth H5405 for thirst H6772 , I H589 PPRO-1MS the LORD H3068 EDS will hear H6030 them , I the God H430 CDP of Israel H3478 will not H3808 NADV forsake H5800 them .
18 I will open H6605 VQY1MS rivers H5104 NMP in H5921 PREP high places H8205 , and fountains H4599 in the midst H8432 of the valleys H1237 : I will make H7760 VQY1MS the wilderness H4057 NMS a pool H98 of water H4325 OMD , and the dry H6723 NFS land H776 W-NFS springs H4161 of water H4325 OMD .
19 I will plant H5414 VQY1MS in the wilderness H4057 the cedar H730 , the shittah tree H7848 , and the myrtle H1918 , and the oil H8081 tree H6086 W-NMS ; I will set H7760 VQY1MS in the desert H6160 the fir tree H1265 , and the pine H8410 , and the box tree H8391 together H3162 ADV :
20 That H4616 L-CONJ they may see H7200 VQY3MP , and know H3045 , and consider H7760 , and understand H7919 together H3162 ADV-3MS , that H3588 CONJ the hand H3027 CFS of the LORD H3068 EDS hath done H6213 VQQ3MS this H2063 DPRO-3FS , and the Holy One H6918 of Israel H3478 hath created H1254 it .
21 Produce H7126 your cause H7379 , saith H559 VQY3MS the LORD H3068 EDS ; bring forth H5066 your strong H6110 reasons , saith H559 VQY3MS the King H4428 NMS of Jacob H3290 .
22 Let them bring them forth H5066 , and show H5046 us what H834 RPRO shall happen H7136 : let them show H5046 the former things H7223 , what H4100 IGAT they H2007 PPRO-3FP be , that we may consider H7760 them , and know H3045 W-VQI1CP the latter end H319 of them ; or H176 CONJ declare H8085 us things for to come H935 .
23 Show H5046 the things that are to come H857 hereafter H268 L-NMS , that we may know H3045 W-VQI1CP that H3588 CONJ ye H859 PPRO-2MS are gods H430 EDP : yea H637 CONJ , do good H3190 , or do evil H7489 , that we may be dismayed H8159 , and behold H7200 it together H3162 ADV .
24 Behold H2005 IJEC , ye H859 PPRO-2MS are of nothing H369 , and your work H6467 of naught H659 : an abomination H8441 is he that chooseth H977 you .
25 I have raised up H5782 one from the north H6828 M-NFS , and he shall come H857 : from the rising H4217 of the sun H8121 shall he call H7121 VQY3MS upon my name H8034 : and he shall come H935 W-VQY3MS upon princes H5461 as H3644 PREP upon mortar H2563 NMS , and as H3644 the potter H3335 treadeth H7429 clay H2916 NMS .
26 Who H4310 IPRO hath declared H5046 VHPMS from the beginning H7218 , that we may know H3045 ? and formerly H6440 , that we may say H559 , He is righteous H6662 AMS ? yea H637 CONJ , there is none H369 NPAR that showeth H5046 VHPMS , yea H637 CONJ , there is none H369 NPAR that declareth H8085 , yea H637 CONJ , there is none H369 NPAR that heareth H8085 your words H561 .
27 The first H7223 shall say to Zion H6726 , Behold H2009 IJEC , behold H2009 IJEC them : and I will give H5414 to Jerusalem H3389 one that bringeth good tidings H1319 .
28 For I beheld H7200 , and there was no H369 W-NPAR man H376 NMS ; even among them H428 WM-PMP , and there was no H369 W-NPAR counselor H3289 , that , when I asked H7592 of them , could answer H7725 a word H1697 NMS .
