Proverbs 2:1 (AMP) Amplified Bibles

1 MY SON, if you will receive my words and treasure up my commandments within you,
2 Making your ear attentive to skillful and godly Wisdom and inclining and directing your heart and mind to understanding applying all your powers to the quest for it;
3 Yes, if you cry out for insight and raise your voice for understanding,
4 If you seek Wisdom as for silver and search for skillful and godly Wisdom as for hidden treasures,
5 Then you will understand the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of our omniscient God. Prov. 1:7.
6 For the Lord gives skillful and godly Wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.
7 He hides away sound and godly Wisdom and stores it for the righteous (those who are upright and in right standing with Him); He is a shield to those who walk uprightly and in integrity,
8 That He may guard the paths of justice; yes, He preserves the way of His saints. I Sam. 2:9; Ps. 66:8, 9.
9 Then you will understand righteousness, justice, and fair dealing in every area and relation; yes, you will understand every good path.
10 For skillful and godly Wisdom shall enter into your heart, and knowledge shall be pleasant to you.
11 Discretion shall watch over you, understanding shall keep you,
12 To deliver you from the way of evil and the evil men, from men who speak perverse things and are liars,
13 Men who forsake the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness,
14 Who rejoice to do evil and delight in the perverseness of evil,
15 Who are crooked in their ways, wayward and devious in their paths.
16 Discretion shall watch over you, understanding shall keep you to deliver you from the alien woman, from the outsider with her flattering words, Prov. 2:11.
17 Who forsakes the husband and guide of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God.
18 For her house sinks down to death and her paths to the spirits of the dead.
19 None who go to her return again, neither do they attain or regain the paths of life.
20 So may you walk in the way of good men, and keep to the paths of the consistently righteous (the upright, in right standing with God).
21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the men of integrity, blameless and complete in God's sight, shall remain in it;
22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the treacherous shall be rooted out of it.

3 Yea H3588 CONJ , if H518 PART thou criest H7121 VQY3FS after knowledge H998 LD-NFS , and liftest up H5414 VQY2MS thy voice H6963 CMS-2MS for understanding H8394 LD-NFS-3FS ;
4 If H518 PART thou seekest H1245 VPY2MS-3FS her as silver H3701 KD-NMS , and searchest H2664 VQY2MS-3FS for her as for hid treasures H4301 WKD-NMP ;
5 Then H227 ADV shalt thou understand H995 VQY2MS the fear H3374 CFS of the LORD H3068 EDS , and find H4672 VQY2MS the knowledge H1847 W-VQFC of God H430 EDP .
6 For H3588 CONJ the LORD H3068 EDS giveth H5414 VHFA wisdom H2451 NFS : out of his mouth H6310 M-CMS-3MS cometh knowledge H1847 NFS and understanding H8394 W-NFS .
7 He layeth up H6845 W-VQQ3MS sound wisdom H8454 NFS for the righteous H3477 LD-AMP : he is a buckler H4043 NMS to them that walk H1980 L-VQCMP uprightly H8537 NMS .
8 He keepeth H5341 L-VQFC the paths H734 CFP of judgment H4941 NMS , and preserveth H8104 VQY3MS the way H1870 W-NMS of his saints H2623 W-NMS .
9 Then H227 ADV shalt thou understand H995 VQY2MS righteousness H6664 NMS , and judgment H4941 W-NMS , and equity H4339 W-NMP ; yea , every H3605 NMS good H2896 AMS path H4570 CMS .
10 When H3588 CONJ wisdom H2451 NFS entereth H935 VQY3FS into thine heart H3820 B-CMS-2MS , and knowledge H1847 W-VQFC is pleasant H5276 VQY3MS unto thy soul H5315 L-CFS-2MS ;
11 Discretion H4209 NFS shall preserve H8104 VQY2MS thee , understanding H8394 NFS shall keep H5341 VQY3FS thee :
12 To deliver H5337 thee from the way H1870 of the evil H7451 AMS man , from the man H376 M-NMS that speaketh H1696 VPPMS froward things H8419 ;
13 Who leave H5800 the paths H734 CFP of uprightness H3476 NMS , to walk H1980 L-VQFC in the ways H1870 of darkness H2822 NMS ;
14 Who rejoice H8056 to do H6213 L-VQFC evil H7451 AMS , and delight in H1523 the frowardness H8419 of the wicked H7451 AMS ;
15 Whose H834 RPRO ways H734 are crooked H6141 , and they froward H3868 in their paths H4570 :
16 To deliver H5337 thee from the strange woman H802 , even from the stranger H5237 which flattereth H2505 with her words H561 CMP-3FS ;
17 Which forsaketh H5800 the guide H441 of her youth H5271 , and forgetteth H7911 the covenant H1285 NFS of her God H430 .
18 For H3588 CONJ her house H1004 inclineth H7743 unto H413 PREP death H4194 NMS , and her paths H4570 unto H413 PREP the dead H7496 .
19 None H3808 NADV that go unto H935 her return again H7725 , neither H3808 ADV take they hold H5381 VHY3MP of the paths H734 CFP of life H2416 NMP .
20 That H4616 L-CONJ thou mayest walk H1980 VQY2MS in the way H1870 B-NMS of good H2896 men , and keep H8104 VQY2MS the paths H734 of the righteous H6662 AMP .
21 For H3588 CONJ the upright H3477 AMP shall dwell in H7931 the land H776 NFS , and the perfect H8549 W-AMP shall remain H3498 in it .
22 But the wicked H7563 shall be cut off H3772 from the earth H776 M-NFS , and the transgressors H898 shall be rooted H5255 out of H4480 PREP-3FS it .
