Ezekiel 32:1 (AMP) Amplified Bibles

1 IN THE twelfth year after King Jehoiachin of Judah was taken into exile by the king of Babylon, in the twelfth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
2 Son of man, take up a lamentation over Pharaoh king of Egypt and say to him, You have likened yourself to a young lion, leader of the nations, but you are like a monster dragon in the seas; you break forth in your rivers and trouble the waters with your feet, and you make foul their rivers the sources of their prosperity.
3 Thus says the Lord God: I will therefore throw out My net over you with a host of many peoples, and they shall bring you up in My dragnet.
4 Then I will leave you Egypt upon the shore; I will cast you on the open field and will cause all the birds of the heavens to settle upon you, and I will fill the beasts of the whole earth with you.
5 And I will scatter your flesh upon the mountains and fill the valleys with your high heap of corpses and their worms.
6 I will also water with your flowing blood the land, even to the mountains, and the hollows and water channels shall be full of you.
7 And when I have extinguished you, I will cover the heavens of Egypt and make their stars dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud and the moon shall not give her light.
8 All the bright lights of the heavens I will make dark over you and set darkness upon your land, says the Lord God.
9 I will also trouble and vex the hearts of many peoples when I bring your breaking and trembling and destruction and carry you captive among the nations, into the countries which you have not known.
10 I will make many peoples amazed and appalled at you Egypt, and their kings shall shudder and be horribly afraid because of you when I brandish My sword before them; they shall tremble every moment, every man for his own life, in the day of your downfall.
11 For thus says the Lord God: The sword of the king of Babylon shall come upon you.
12 I will cause your multitude, your tumult, and your store of wealth, strength, and glory to fall by the swords of the mighty--the most terrible among the nations are they all. And they shall bring to nothing the pomp and pride of Egypt, and all its multitude with its activity and its wealth in every sphere shall be destroyed.
13 I will destroy also all its beasts from beside many and great waters, and no foot of man shall trouble them any more, nor shall the hoofs of beasts trouble them.
14 Then will I make their waters sink down (subside, be quiet, and become clear); their rivers I will cause to run slowly and smoothly like oil, says the Lord God.
15 When I make the land of Egypt desolate, and the country is stripped and destitute of all that of which it was full when I smite all those who dwell in it, then will they know, understand, and realize that I am the Lord the Sovereign Ruler, Who requires and calls forth loyalty and obedient service.
16 This is the lamentation with which they shall intone or chant the lament for her; the daughters of the nations shall chant their lament with it; over Egypt and over all her multitude, her tumult, and her wealth in every sphere shall they chant it, says the Lord God.
17 In the twelfth year after King Jehoiachin of Judah was taken into exile, on the fifteenth day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
18 Son of man, wail over the multitude of Egypt and cast them down, even her and the daughters of the famous and majestic nations, to the netherworld, with those who go down to the pit;
19 Whom among them do you surpass in beauty? Go down and be laid with the uncircumcised (the heathen).
20 They shall fall in the midst of those who are slain by the sword; she Egypt is delivered to the sword; they draw her down to her judgment, and all her multitudes with their noise and stores.
21 The strong among the mighty shall speak of Pharaoh out of the midst of Sheol (the place of the dead, the netherworld) with those who helped him; they are gone down; they lie still, even the uncircumcised (the heathen) slain by the sword.
22 Assyria is there and all her company; their graves are round about her, all of them slain, fallen by the sword,
23 Whose graves are set in the uttermost parts of the pit and whose company is round about her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who caused terror to spread in the land of the living.
24 Elam an auxiliary of Assyria is there and all her multitude round about her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who have gone down uncircumcised into the netherworld, who caused their terror to spread in the land of the living and have borne their shame with those who go down to the pit.
25 They have set her a bed (a sepulcher) among the slain with all her multitude--their graves round about her, all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword, for their terror had spread in the land of the living, and they henceforth bear their shame with those who go down to the pit; they are laid in the midst of the slain.
26 Meshech, Tubal, and all their multitude are there; their graves are round about Pharaoh, all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword, for they caused their terror to be spread in the land of the living.
27 And they shall not lie with the mighty who have fallen of the uncircumcised and who have gone down to Sheol (the place of the dead, the netherworld) with their weapons of war, whose swords were laid with honors under their heads and whose iniquities are upon their bones, for they caused their terror to spread in the land of the living.
28 But you Meshech and Tubal shall be broken in the midst of the uncircumcised and shall lie without honors with those who are slain with the sword.
29 Edom is there, her kings and all her princes, who for all their might are laid with those who were slain by the sword; they shall lie with the uncircumcised (the heathen) and with those who go down to the pit.
30 The princes of the north are there, all of them, and all the Sidonians, who have gone down with the slain; for all the terror which they caused by their might they are put to shame, and they lie uncircumcised with those who are slain by the sword and henceforth bear their shame with those who go down to the pit.
31 When Pharaoh sees them, he will comfort himself for all his multitude--even Pharaoh and all his army, slain by the sword, says the Lord God.
32 For I have put his and My terror in the land of the living, and he shall be laid in the midst of the uncircumcised (the heathen) with those slain by the sword, even Pharaoh and all his multitude, says the Lord God. Isa. 19; Jer. 46; Zech. 14:18, 19.

2 Son H1121 of man H120 NMS , take up H5375 VQI2MS a lamentation H7015 for H5921 PREP Pharaoh H6547 EMS king H4428 NMS of Egypt H4714 EFS , and say H559 unto H413 PREP-3MS him , Thou art like H1819 a young lion H3715 of the nations H1471 NMP , and thou H859 W-PPRO-2MS art as a whale H8577 in the seas H3220 B-NMP : and thou camest forth H1518 with thy rivers H5104 , and troubledst H1804 the waters H4325 OMD with thy feet H7272 , and fouledst H7511 their rivers H5104 .
3 Thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 ; I will therefore spread out H6566 my net H7568 over H5921 PREP-2MS thee with a company H6951 of many H7227 AMP people H5971 NMP ; and they shall bring thee up H5927 in my net H2764 .
4 Then will I leave H5203 thee upon the land H776 BD-GFS , I will cast thee forth H2904 upon H5921 PREP the open H6440 CMP field H7704 D-NMS , and will cause all H3605 NMS the fowls H5775 NMS of the heaven H8064 D-NMD to remain H7931 upon H5921 PREP thee , and I will fill H7646 the beasts H2416 CFS of the whole H3605 NMS earth H776 D-GFS with H4480 PREP-2MS thee .
5 And I will lay H5414 thy flesh H1320 upon H5921 PREP the mountains H2022 , and fill H4390 the valleys H1516 with thy height H7419 .
6 I will also water H8248 with thy blood H1818 the land H776 GFS wherein thou swimmest H6824 , even to H413 PREP the mountains H2022 ; and the rivers H650 shall be full H4390 of H4480 M-PPRO-2MS thee .
7 And when I shall put thee out H3518 , I will cover H3680 the heaven H8064 NMP , and make the stars thereof dark H6937 ; I will cover H3680 the sun H8121 with a cloud H6051 , and the moon H3394 W-NMS shall not H3808 NADV give H215 VHY3MS her light H216 CMS-3MS .
8 All H3605 NMS the bright H216 NMS lights H3974 of heaven H8064 BD-NMP will I make dark H6937 over H5921 PREP-2MS thee , and set H5414 darkness H2822 NMS upon H5921 PREP thy land H776 , saith H5002 the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 .
9 I will also vex H3707 the hearts H3820 NMS of many H7227 AMP people H5971 NMP , when I shall bring H935 thy destruction H7667 among the nations H1471 , into H5921 PREP the countries H776 which H834 RPRO thou hast not H3808 ADV known H3045 .
10 Yea , I will make many people amazed H8074 at H5921 PREP thee , and their kings H4428 shall be horribly afraid H8175 for H5921 PREP thee , when I shall brandish H5774 my sword H2719 before H5921 PREP them ; and they shall tremble H2729 at every moment H7281 L-NMP , every man H376 NMS for his own life H5315 , in the day H3117 B-NMS of thy fall H4658 .
11 For H3588 CONJ thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 ; The sword H2719 GFS of the king H4428 NMS of Babylon H894 LFS shall come upon H935 thee .
12 By the swords H2719 of the mighty H1368 will I cause thy multitude H1995 to fall H5307 , the terrible H6184 of the nations H1471 NMP , all H3605 NMS of them : and they shall spoil H7703 the pomp H1347 CMS of Egypt H4714 EFS , and all H3605 NMS the multitude H1995 thereof shall be destroyed H8045 .
13 I will destroy H6 also all H3605 NMS the beasts H929 thereof from beside H5921 M-PREP the great H7227 AMP waters H4325 OMD ; neither H3808 W-NPAR shall the foot H7272 of man H120 NMS trouble H1804 them any more H5750 ADV , nor H3808 W-NPAR the hooves H6541 of beasts H929 NFS trouble H1804 them .
14 Then H227 ADV will I make their waters deep H8257 , and cause their rivers H5104 to run H1980 like oil H8081 , saith H5002 the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 .
15 When I shall make H5414 the land H776 GFS of Egypt H4714 EFS desolate H8077 , and the country H776 GFS shall be destitute H8074 of that whereof it was full H4393 , when I shall smite H5221 all H3605 NMS them that dwell H3427 therein , then shall they know H3045 that H3588 CONJ I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
16 This H1931 PPRO-3FS is the lamentation H7015 wherewith they shall lament H6969 her : the daughters H1323 CFP of the nations H1471 D-NMP shall lament H6969 her : they shall lament H6969 for her , even for H5921 PREP Egypt H4714 EFS , and for H5921 PREP all H3605 NMS her multitude H1995 , saith H5002 the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 .
17 It came to pass H1961 W-VPY3MS also in the twelfth H8147 year H8141 NFS , in the fifteenth H2568 day of the month H2320 LD-NMS , that the word H1697 NMS of the LORD H3068 EDS came H1961 W-VPY3MS unto H413 PREP-1MS me , saying H559 L-VQFC ,
18 Son H1121 of man H120 NMS , wail H5091 for H5921 PREP the multitude H1995 of Egypt H4714 EFS , and cast them down H3381 , even her , and the daughters H1323 of the famous H117 nations H1471 NMP , unto H413 PREP the nether parts H8482 of the earth H776 GFS , with H854 PREP them that go down H3381 into the pit H953 NMS .
19 Whom H4310 dost thou pass in beauty H5276 ? go down H3381 , and be thou laid H7901 with H854 PREP the uncircumcised H6189 .
20 They shall fall H5307 in the midst H8432 B-NMS of them that are slain H2491 by the sword H2719 GFS : she is delivered H5414 to the sword H2719 GFS : draw H4900 her and all H3605 W-CMS her multitudes H1995 .
21 The strong H410 among the mighty H1368 shall speak H1696 to him out of the midst H8432 of hell H7585 NMS with H854 PREP them that help H5826 him : they are gone down H3381 , they lie H7901 uncircumcised H6189 , slain H2491 by the sword H2719 GFS .
22 Asshur H804 GFS is there H8033 ADV and all H3605 W-CMS her company H6951 : his graves H6913 are about H5439 him : all H3605 CMS-3MP of them slain H2491 NMP , fallen H5307 by the sword H2719 :
23 Whose H834 RPRO graves H6913 are set H5414 in the sides H3411 of the pit H953 , and her company H6951 is H1961 W-VQY3MS round about H5439 ADV her grave H6900 : all H3605 CMS-3MP of them slain H2491 NMP , fallen H5307 by the sword H2719 , which H834 RPRO caused H5414 terror H2851 in the land H776 B-GFS of the living H2416 NMP .
24 There H8033 ADV is Elam H5867 EMS and all H3605 W-CMS her multitude H1995 round about H5439 ADV her grave H6900 , all H3605 CMS-3MP of them slain H2491 NMP , fallen H5307 by the sword H2719 , which H834 RPRO are gone down H3381 uncircumcised H6189 into H413 PREP the nether parts H8482 of the earth H776 GFS , which H834 RPRO caused H5414 their terror H2851 in the land H776 B-GFS of the living H2416 NMP ; yet have they borne H5375 W-VQY3MP their shame H3639 with H854 PREP them that go down H3381 to the pit H953 NMS .
25 They have set H5414 her a bed H4904 in the midst H8432 B-NMS of the slain H2491 NMP with all H3605 B-CMS her multitude H1995 : her graves H6913 are round about H5439 him : all H3605 CMS-3MP of them uncircumcised H6189 , slain H2491 by the sword H2719 GFS : though H3588 CONJ their terror H2851 was caused H5414 in the land H776 B-GFS of the living H2416 NMP , yet have they borne H5375 W-VQY3MP their shame H3639 with H854 PREP them that go down H3381 to the pit H953 : he is put H5414 in the midst H8432 B-NMS of them that be slain H2491 NMP .
26 There H8033 ADV is Meshech H4902 , Tubal H8422 , and all H3605 W-CMS her multitude H1995 : her graves H6913 are round about H5439 him : all H3605 CMS-3MP of them uncircumcised H6189 , slain H2490 by the sword H2719 GFS , though H3588 CONJ they caused H5414 their terror H2851 in the land H776 B-GFS of the living H2416 NMP .
27 And they shall not H3808 W-NPAR lie H7901 with H854 PREP the mighty H1368 that are fallen H5307 of the uncircumcised H6189 , which H834 RPRO are gone down H3381 to hell H7585 NMS with their weapons H3627 of war H4421 : and they have laid H5414 W-VQY3MP their swords H2719 under H8478 NMS their heads H7218 CMP-3MP , but their iniquities H5771 shall be H1961 W-VQY3FS upon H5921 PREP their bones H6106 , though H3588 CONJ they were the terror H2851 of the mighty H1368 in the land H776 B-GFS of the living H2416 NMP .
28 Yea , thou H859 W-PPRO-2MS shalt be broken H7665 in the midst H8432 B-NMS of the uncircumcised H6189 , and shalt lie H7901 with H854 PREP them that are slain H2491 with the sword H2719 GFS .
29 There H8033 ADV-3FS is Edom H123 , her kings H4428 , and all H3605 W-CMS her princes H5387 , which H834 RPRO with their might H1369 are laid H5414 by H854 PREP them that were slain H2491 by the sword H2719 NFS : they H1992 PPRO-3MP shall lie H7901 VQY3MP with H854 PREP the uncircumcised H6189 , and with H854 W-PART them that go down H3381 to the pit H953 NMS .
30 There H8033 ADV-3FS be the princes H5257 of the north H6828 NFS , all H3605 CMS-3MP of them , and all H3605 W-CMS the Zidonians H6722 , which H834 RPRO are gone down H3381 with H854 PREP the slain H2491 NMP ; with their terror H2851 they are ashamed H954 of their might ; and they lie H7901 uncircumcised H6189 with H854 PREP them that be slain H2491 by the sword H2719 GFS , and bear H5375 W-VQY3MP their shame H3639 with H854 PREP them that go down H3381 to the pit H953 NMS .
31 Pharaoh H6547 EMS shall see H7200 VQY3MS them , and shall be comforted H5162 W-VNQ3MS over H5921 PREP all H3605 NMS his multitude H1995 , even Pharaoh H6547 EMS and all H3605 NMS his army H2428 CMS-3MS slain H2491 by the sword H2719 GFS , saith H5002 the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 .
32 For H3588 CONJ I have caused H5414 VQQ1MS my terror H2851 in the land H776 B-GFS of the living H2416 NMP : and he shall be laid H7901 in the midst H8432 B-NMS of the uncircumcised H6189 with H854 PREP them that are slain H2491 with the sword H2719 GFS , even Pharaoh H6547 EMS and all H3605 W-CMS his multitude H1995 , saith H5002 the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 .
