Genesis 6:1 (AMP) Amplified Bibles

1 WHEN MEN began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them,
2 The sons of God saw that the daughters of men were fair, and they took wives of all they desired and chose.
3 Then the Lord said, My Spirit shall not forever dwell and strive with man, for he also is flesh; but his days shall yet be 120 years.
4 There were giants on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God lived with the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.
5 The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination and intention of all human thinking was only evil continually.
6 And the Lord regretted that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved at heart.
7 So the Lord said, I will destroy, blot out, and wipe away mankind, whom I have created from the face of the ground--not only man, but the beasts and the creeping things and the birds of the air--for it grieves Me and makes Me regretful that I have made them.
8 But Noah found grace (favor) in the eyes of the Lord.
9 This is the history of the generations of Noah. Noah was a just and righteous man, blameless in his evil generation; Noah walked in habitual fellowship with God.
10 And Noah became the father of three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
11 The earth was depraved and putrid in God's sight, and the land was filled with violence (desecration, infringement, outrage, assault, and lust for power).
12 And God looked upon the world and saw how degenerate, debased, and vicious it was, for all humanity had corrupted their way upon the earth and lost their true direction.
13 God said to Noah, I intend to make an end of all flesh, for through men the land is filled with violence; and behold, I will destroy them and the land.
14 Make yourself an ark of gopher or cypress wood; make in it rooms (stalls, pens, coops, nests, cages, and compartments) and cover it inside and out with pitch (bitumen).
15 And this is the way you are to make it: the length of the ark shall be 300 cubits, its breadth 50 cubits, and its height 30 cubits that is, 450 ft. x 75 ft. x 45 ft..
16 You shall make a roof or window a place for light for the ark and finish it to a cubit at least 18 inches above--and the door of the ark you shall put in the side of it; and you shall make it with lower, second, and third stories.
17 For behold, I, even I, will bring a flood of waters upon the earth to destroy and make putrid all flesh under the heavens in which are the breath and spirit of life; everything that is on the land shall die.
18 But I will establish My covenant (promise, pledge) with you, and you shall come into the ark--you and your sons and your wife and your sons' wives with you.
19 And of every living thing of all flesh found on land, you shall bring two of every sort into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female.
20 Of fowls and birds according to their kinds, of beasts according to their kinds, of every creeping thing of the ground according to its kind--two of every sort shall come in with you, that they may be kept alive.
21 Also take with you every sort of food that is eaten, and you shall collect and store it up, and it shall serve as food for you and for them.
22 Noah did this; he did all that God commanded him.
1 And it came to pass H1961 W-VPY3MS , when H3588 CONJ men H120 D-NMS began H2490 VHQ3MS to multiply H7231 L-VQFC on H5921 PREP the face H6440 CMP of the earth H127 D-NFS , and daughters H1323 W-CFP were born H3205 VWQ3MP unto them ,
2 That the sons H1121 CMP of God H430 D-NAME-4MP saw H7200 W-VQY3MP the daughters H1323 CFP of men H120 D-NMS that H3588 CONJ they H2007 PPRO-3FP were fair H2896 AFP ; and they took H3947 W-VQY3MP them wives H802 GFP of all H3605 M-CMS which H834 RPRO they chose H977 VQQ3MP .
3 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS , My spirit H7307 CFS-1MS shall not H3808 ADV always H5769 L-NMS strive H1777 VQY3MS with man H120 B-NMS , for that he H1931 PPRO-3MS also H7945 is flesh H1320 NMS : yet his days H3117 CMP-3MS shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS a hundred H3967 MFS and twenty H6242 W-MMP years H8141 NFS .
4 There were H1961 VQQ3MP giants H5303 D-NMP in the earth H776 BD-GFS in those H1992 D-PPRO-3MP days H3117 BD-NMP ; and also H1571 W-CONJ after H310 PREP that H3651 ADV , when H834 RPRO the sons H1121 of God H430 D-NAME-4MP came in H935 VQY3MP unto H413 PREP the daughters H1323 CFP of men H120 D-NMS , and they bore H3205 W-VQQ3MP children to them , the same H1992 PPRO-3MP became mighty men H1368 D-AMP which H834 RPRO were of old H5769 M-NMS , men H376 CMP of renown H8034 D-NMS .
5 And GOD H3068 EDS saw H7200 W-VIY3MS that H3588 CONJ the wickedness H7451 CFS of man H120 D-NMS was great H7227 AFS in the earth H776 B-NFS , and that every H3605 NMS imagination H3336 CMS of the thoughts H4284 CFP of his heart H3820 CMS-3MS was only H7535 ADV evil H7451 AMS continually H3605 NMS .
6 And it repented H5162 W-VNY3MS the LORD H3068 EDS that H3588 CONJ he had made H6213 VQQ3MS man H120 D-NMS on the earth H776 B-NFS , and it grieved H6087 W-VTY3MS him at H413 PREP his heart H3820 CMS-3MS .
7 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS , I will destroy H4229 VQY1MS man H120 D-NMS whom H834 RPRO I have created H1254 VQQ1MS from M-PREP the face H6440 CMP of the earth H127 D-NFS ; both man H120 M-NMS , and H5704 PREP beast H929 NFS , and H5704 PREP the creeping thing H7431 CMS , and H5704 PREP the fowls H5775 NMS of the air H8064 D-AMP ; for H3588 CONJ it repenteth H5162 VNQ1MS me that H3588 CONJ I have made H6213 VQQ1MS-3MP them .
8 But Noah H5146 W-NAME-3MS found H4672 VQPMS grace H2580 NMS in the eyes H5869 B-CMP of the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
9 These H428 PMP are the generations H8435 CFP of Noah H5146 EMS : Noah H5146 EMS was H1961 VQQ3MS a just H6662 AMS man H376 and perfect H8549 AMS in his generations H1755 B-CMP-3MS , and Noah H5146 NAME-3MS walked H1980 VTQ3MS with H854 PREP God H430 D-NAME-4MS .
10 And Noah H5146 EMS begot H3205 W-VHY3MS three H7969 NFS sons H1121 NMP , Shem H8035 NAME-3MS , Ham H2526 NAME-3MS , and Japheth H3315 NAME-3MS .
11 The earth H776 D-GFS also was corrupt H7843 W-VNY3FS before H6440 L-CMP God H430 D-NAME-4MS , and the earth H776 D-GFS was filled H4390 W-VNY3FS with violence H2555 AMS .
12 And God H430 EDP looked upon H7200 W-VIY3MS the earth H776 D-GFS , and , behold H2009 IJEC , it was corrupt H7843 VNQ3FS ; for H3588 CONJ all H3605 NMS flesh H1320 NMS had corrupted H7843 VHQ3MS his way H1870 CMS-3MS upon H5921 PREP the earth H776 D-GFS .
13 And God H430 EDP said H559 W-VQY3MS unto Noah H5146 L-EMS , The end H7093 RMS of all H3605 NMS flesh H1320 NMS is come H935 VQPMS before H6440 L-CMP me ; for H3588 CONJ the earth H776 D-GFS is filled H4390 VQQ3FS with violence H2555 AMS through them H6440 M-CMP-3MP ; and , behold H2009 , I will destroy H7843 VHPMS-3MP them with H854 PREP the earth H776 D-GFS .
14 Make H6213 VQI2MS thee an ark H8392 CFS of gopher H1613 NMS wood H6086 CMP ; rooms H7064 NMP shalt thou make H6213 VQY2MS in the ark H8392 D-NFS , and shalt pitch H3722 W-VQQ2MS it within H1004 M-NMS and without H2351 WM-NMS with pitch H3724 BD-NMS .
15 And this H2088 W-PMS is the fashion which H834 RPRO thou shalt make H6213 VQY2MS it of : The length H753 CMS of the ark H8392 D-NFS shall be three H7969 BFS hundred H3967 BFP cubits H520 UFS , the breadth H7341 CMS-3FS of it fifty H2572 MMP cubits H520 UFS , and the height H6967 CFS-3FS of it thirty H7970 W-MMP cubits H520 UFS .
16 A window H6672 GFS shalt thou make H6213 VQY2MS to the ark H8392 LD-NFS , and in H413 W-PREP a cubit H520 UFS shalt thou finish H3615 VPY2MS-3FS it above H4605 ML-ADV-3FS ; and the door H6607 W-CMS of the ark H8392 D-NFS shalt thou set H7760 VQY2MS in the side H6654 B-CMS-3FS thereof ; with lower H8482 AMP , second H8145 OMP , and third H7992 W-OMP stories shalt thou make H6213 VQY2MS-3FS it .
17 And , behold H2009 , I , even I H589 W-PPRO-1MS , do bring H935 VHPMS a flood H3999 D-NMS of waters H4325 OMD upon H5921 PREP the earth H776 D-GFS , to destroy H7843 L-VPFC all H3605 NMS flesh H1320 NMS , wherein H834 RPRO is the breath H7307 NFS of life H2416 NMP , from under H8478 M-CFS heaven H8064 D-AMP ; and every thing H3605 NMS that H834 RPRO is in the earth H776 B-NFS shall die H1478 VQY3MS .
18 But with H854 PART-2MS thee will I establish H6965 W-VHQ1MS my covenant H1285 B-CFS-1MS ; and thou shalt come H935 W-VQQ2MS into H413 PREP the ark H8392 D-NFS , thou H859 PPRO-2MS , and thy sons H1121 W-CMP-2MS , and thy wife H802 W-CFS-2MS , and thy sons H1121 CMP-2MS \' wives H802 W-GMP with H854 PART-2FS thee .
19 And of every H3605 WM-CMS living thing H2416 D-AMS of all H3605 M-CMS flesh H1320 NMS , two H8147 ONUM of every H3605 M-CMS sort shalt thou bring H935 VHY2MS into H413 PREP the ark H8392 D-NFS , to keep them alive H2421 L-VHFC with H854 PART-2MS thee ; they shall be H1961 VQY3MP male H2145 NMS and female H5347 W-NFS .
20 Of fowls H5775 MD-NMS after their kind H4327 L-NMS-3MS , and of H4480 W-PREP cattle H929 D-NFS after their kind H4327 L-CMS-3FS , of every H3605 M-CMS creeping thing H7431 CMS of the earth H127 D-NFS after his kind H4327 L-NMS-3MS , two H8147 ONUM of every H3605 M-CMS sort shall come H935 VQY3MP unto H413 PREP-2MS thee , to keep them alive H2421 L-VHFC .
21 And take H3947 VQI2MS thou H859 W-PPRO-2MS unto thee of all H3605 M-CMS food H3978 M-CMS that H834 RPRO is eaten H398 VNY3MS , and thou shalt gather H622 W-VQQ2MS it to H413 PREP-2MS thee ; and it shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS for food H402 L-NFS for thee , and for them .
22 Thus did H6213 W-VQY3MS Noah H5146 EMS ; according to all H3605 K-NMS that H834 RPRO God H430 EDP commanded H6680 VPQ3MS him , so H3651 ADV did H6213 W-VQY3MS he .
