Ezekiel 13:1 (AMP) Amplified Bibles

1 AND THE word of the Lord came to me, saying,
2 Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say to those who prophesy out of their own mind and heart, Hear the word of the Lord!
3 Thus says the Lord God: Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit and things they have not seen and have seen nothing!
4 O Israel, your prophets have been like foxes among ruins and in waste places.
5 You have not gone up into the gaps or breeches, nor built up the wall for the house of Israel that it might stand in the battle in the day of the Lord.
6 They have seen falsehood and lying divination, saying, The Lord says; but the Lord has not sent them. Yet they have hoped and made men to hope for the confirmation of their word.
7 Have you not seen a false vision and have you not spoken a lying divination when you say, The Lord says, although I have not spoken?
8 Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because you have spoken empty, false, and delusive words and have seen lies, therefore behold, I am against you, says the Lord God.
9 And My hand shall be against the prophets who see empty, false, and delusive visions and who give lying prophecies. They shall not be in the secret council of My people, nor shall they be recorded in the register of the house of Israel, nor shall they enter into the land of Israel; and you shall know (understand and realize) that I am the Lord God.
10 Because, even because they have seduced My people, saying, Peace, when there is no peace, and because when one builds a flimsy wall, behold, these prophets daub it over with whitewash,
11 Say to them who daub it with whitewash that it shall fall! There shall be a downpour of rain; and you, O great hailstones, shall fall, and a violent wind shall tear apart the whitewashed, flimsy wall.
12 Behold, when the wall is fallen, will you not be asked, Where is the coating with which you prophets daubed it?
13 Therefore thus says the Lord God: I will even rend it with a stormy wind in My wrath, and there shall be an overwhelming rain in My anger and great hailstones in wrath to destroy that wall.
14 So will I break down the wall that you have daubed with whitewash and bring it down to the ground, so that its foundations will be exposed; when it falls, you will perish and be consumed in the midst of it. And you will know (understand and realize) that I am the Lord.
15 Thus will I accomplish My wrath upon the wall and upon those who have daubed it with whitewash, and I will say to you, The wall is no more, neither are they who daubed it,
16 The false prophets of Israel who prophesied deceitfully about Jerusalem, seeing visions of peace for her when there is no peace, says the Lord God.
17 And you, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people who prophesy out of the wishful thinking of their own minds and hearts; prophesy against them,
18 And say, Thus says the Lord God: Woe to the women who sew pillows to all armholes and fasten magic, protective charms to all wrists, and deceptive veils upon the heads of those of every stature to hunt and capture human lives! Will you snare the lives of My people to keep your own selves alive?
19 You have profaned Me among My people in payment for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, slaying persons who should not die and giving a guaranty of life to those who should not live, by your lying to My people, who give heed to lies.
20 Therefore thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against your pillows and charms and veils with which you snare human lives like birds, and I will tear them from your arms and will let the lives you hunt go free, the lives you are snaring like birds.
21 Your deceptive veils also will I tear and deliver My people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be hunted and snared. Then you shall know (understand and realize) that I am the Lord.
22 Because with lies you have made the righteous sad and disheartened, whom I have not made sad or disheartened, and because you have encouraged and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way and be saved in that you falsely promised him life,
23 Therefore you will no more see false visions or practice divinations, and I will deliver My people out of your hand. Then you will know (understand and realize) that I am the Lord.
1 And the word H1697 NMS of the LORD H3068 EDS came H1961 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP-1MS me , saying H559 L-VQFC ,
2 Son H1121 of man H120 NMS , prophesy H5012 against H413 PREP the prophets H5030 of Israel H3478 that prophesy H5012 , and say H559 thou unto them that prophesy H5030 out of their own hearts H3820 , Hear H8085 VQI2MP ye the word H1697 CMS of the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS ;
3 Thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 ; Woe H1945 unto H5921 PREP the foolish H5036 prophets H5030 , that H834 RPRO follow H1980 their own spirit H7307 , and have seen H7200 VQQ3MP nothing H1115 !
4 O Israel H3478 , thy prophets H5030 are H1961 like the foxes H7776 in the deserts H2723 .
5 Ye have not H3808 NADV gone up H5927 into the gaps H6556 , neither made up H1443 the hedge H1447 for H5921 PREP the house H1004 CMS of Israel H3478 to stand H5975 in the battle H4421 in the day H3117 B-NMS of the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
6 They have seen H2372 VQP3MP vanity H7723 NMS and lying H3577 divination H7081 , saying H559 , The LORD H3068 EDS saith H5002 : and the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS hath not H3808 NADV sent H7971 them : and they have made others to hope H3176 W-VPQ3MP that they would confirm H6965 the word H1697 .
7 Have ye not H3808 ADV seen H2372 VQP2MP a vain H7723 NMS vision H4236 , and have ye not spoken H559 a lying H3577 divination H4738 , whereas ye say H559 , The LORD H3068 EDS saith H5002 it ; albeit I H589 W-PPRO-1MS have not H3808 NADV spoken H1696 ?
8 Therefore H3651 L-ADV thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 ; Because H3282 ADV ye have spoken H1696 vanity H7723 NMS , and seen H2372 lies H3577 , therefore H3651 L-ADV , behold H2009 , I am against H413 you , saith H5002 the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 .
9 And mine hand H3027 CFS-1MS shall be H1961 W-VQQ3FS upon H413 PREP the prophets H5030 that see H2372 vanity H7723 NMS , and that divine H7080 lies H3577 : they shall not H3808 ADV be H1961 VQY3MP in the assembly H5475 B-CMS of my people H5971 , neither H3808 NADV shall they be written H3789 in the writing H3791 of the house H1004 of Israel H3478 , neither H3808 NADV shall they enter H935 VQY3MP into H413 W-PREP the land H127 of Israel H3478 ; and ye shall know H3045 that H3588 CONJ I H589 PPRO-1MS am the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 .
10 Because H3282 ADV , even because H3282 they have seduced H2937 my people H5971 , saying H559 L-VQFC , Peace H7965 NMS ; and there was no H369 W-NPAR peace H7965 NMS ; and one H1931 W-PPRO-3MS built up H1129 VQPMS a wall H2434 , and , lo H2009 , others daubed H2902 it with untempered H8602 mortar :
11 Say H559 unto H413 PREP them which daub H2902 it with untempered H8602 mortar , that it shall fall H5307 : there shall be H1961 VQQ3MS an overflowing H7857 shower H1653 ; and ye H859 , O great hailstones H68 CMP , shall fall H5307 ; and a stormy H5591 wind H7307 W-GFS shall rend H1234 it .
12 Lo H2009 IJEC , when the wall H7023 is fallen H5307 , shall it not H3808 D-NPAR be said H559 unto H413 you , Where H346 IGAT is the daubing H2915 wherewith H834 RPRO ye have daubed H2902 it ?
13 Therefore H3651 L-ADV thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 ; I will even rend H1234 it with a stormy H5591 wind H7307 NMS in my fury H2534 ; and there shall be H1961 VQY3MS an overflowing H7857 shower H1653 W-CMS in mine anger H639 , and great hailstones H68 in my fury H2534 to consume H3617 it .
14 So will I break down H2040 the wall H7023 that H834 RPRO ye have daubed H2902 with untempered H8602 AMS mortar , and bring it down H5060 to H413 PREP the ground H776 D-GFS , so that the foundation H3247 thereof shall be discovered H1540 , and it shall fall H5307 , and ye shall be consumed H3615 in the midst H8432 thereof : and ye shall know H3045 that H3588 CONJ I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
15 Thus will I accomplish H3615 my wrath H2534 upon the wall H7023 , and upon them that have daubed H2902 it with untempered H8602 AMS mortar , and will say H559 unto you , The wall H7023 is no H369 NPAR more , neither H369 W-NPAR they that daubed H2902 it ;
16 To wit , the prophets H5030 of Israel H3478 which prophesy H5012 concerning H413 PREP Jerusalem H3389 , and which see H2372 visions H2377 of peace H7965 for her , and there is no H369 W-NPAR peace H7965 , saith H5002 the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 .
17 Likewise , thou H859 W-PPRO-2MS son H1121 CMS of man H120 NMS , set H7760 VQFC thy face H6440 CMP-2MS against H413 PREP the daughters H1323 CFP of thy people H5971 , which prophesy H5012 out of H4480 their own heart H3820 ; and prophesy H5012 thou against H5921 them ,
18 And say H559 , Thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 ; Woe H1945 to the women that sew H8609 pillows H3704 to H5921 PREP all H3605 NMS armholes H679 , and make H6213 kerchiefs H4555 upon H5921 PREP the head H7218 NMS of every H3605 NMS stature H6967 to hunt H6679 souls H5315 ! Will ye hunt H6679 the souls H5315 of my people H5971 , and will ye save the souls alive H2421 that come unto you ?
19 And will ye pollute H2490 me among H413 PREP my people H5971 for handfuls H8168 of barley H8184 and for pieces H6595 of bread H3899 NMS , to slay H4191 the souls H5315 that H834 RPRO should not H3808 ADV die H4191 , and to save the souls alive H2421 that H834 RPRO should not H3808 NADV live H2421 , by your lying H3576 to my people H5971 that hear H8085 your lies H3577 ?
20 Wherefore H3651 L-ADV thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 ; Behold H2009 , I am against H413 PREP your pillows H3704 , wherewith H834 RPRO ye H859 there H8033 ADV hunt H6679 the souls H5315 to make them fly H6524 , and I will tear H7167 them from M-PREP your arms H2220 , and will let the souls go H7971 , even the souls H5315 that H834 RPRO ye H859 PPRO-2MS hunt H6679 to make them fly H6524 .
21 Your kerchiefs H4555 also will I tear H7167 , and deliver H5337 my people H5971 out of your hand H3027 , and they shall be H1961 VQY3MP no H3808 W-NPAR more H5750 ADV in your hand H3027 to be hunted H4686 ; and ye shall know H3045 that H3588 CONJ I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
22 Because H3282 ADV with lies H8267 NMS ye have made the heart H3820 NMS of the righteous H6662 AMS sad H3512 , whom I H589 W-PPRO-1MS have not H3808 NADV made sad H3510 ; and strengthened H2388 the hands H3027 CFD of the wicked H7563 , that he should not H1115 L-NPAR return H7725 VQFC from his wicked way H1870 M-CMS-3MS , by promising him life H2421 :
23 Therefore H3651 L-ADV ye shall see H2372 no H3808 NADV more H5750 ADV vanity H7723 NMS , nor H3808 NADV divine H7080 divinations H7081 : for I will deliver H5337 my people H5971 out of your hand H3027 : and ye shall know H3045 that H3588 CONJ I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
