John 2:1 (AMP) Amplified Bibles

1 ON THE third day there was a wedding at Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.
2 Jesus also was invited with His disciples to the wedding.
3 And when the wine was all gone, the mother of Jesus said to Him, They have no more wine!
4 Jesus said to her, Dear woman, what is that to you and to Me? What do we have in common? Leave it to Me. My time (hour to act) has not yet come. Eccl. 3:1.
5 His mother said to the servants, Whatever He says to you, do it.
6 Now there were six waterpots of stone standing there, as the Jewish custom of purification (ceremonial washing) demanded, holding twenty to thirty gallons apiece.
7 Jesus said to them, Fill the waterpots with water. So they filled them up to the brim.
8 Then He said to them, Draw some out now and take it to the manager of the feast to the one presiding, the superintendent of the banquet. So they took him some.
9 And when the manager tasted the water just now turned into wine, not knowing where it came from--though the servants who had drawn the water knew--he called the bridegroom
10 And said to him, Everyone else serves his best wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then he serves that which is not so good; but you have kept back the good wine until now!
11 This, the first of His signs (miracles, wonderworks), Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory by it He displayed His greatness and His power openly, and His disciples believed in Him adhered to, trusted in, and relied on Him. Deut. 5:24; Ps. 72:19.
12 After that He went down to Capernaum with His mother and brothers and disciples, and they stayed there only a few days.
13 Now the Passover of the Jews was approaching, so Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
14 There He found in the temple enclosure those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting there also at their stands.
15 And having made a lash (a whip) of cords, He drove them all out of the temple enclosure--both the sheep and the oxen--spilling and scattering the brokers' money and upsetting and tossing around their trays (their stands).
16 Then to those who sold the doves He said, Take these things away (out of here)! Make not My Father's house a house of merchandise (a marketplace, a sales shop)! Ps. 93:5.
17 And His disciples remembered that it is written in the Holy Scriptures, Zeal (the fervor of love) for Your house will eat Me up. I will be consumed with jealousy for the honor of Your house. Ps. 69:9.
18 Then the Jews retorted, What sign can You show us, seeing You do these things? What sign, miracle, token, indication can You give us as evidence that You have authority and are commissioned to act in this way?
19 Jesus answered them, Destroy (undo) this temple, and in three days I will raise it up again.
20 Then the Jews replied, It took forty-six years to build this temple (sanctuary), and will You raise it up in three days?
21 But He had spoken of the temple which was His body.
22 When therefore He had risen from the dead, His disciples remembered that He said this. And so they believed and trusted and relied on the Scripture and the word (message) Jesus had spoken. Ps. 16:10.
23 But when He was in Jerusalem during the Passover Feast, many believed in His name identified themselves with His party after seeing His signs (wonders, miracles) which He was doing.
24 But Jesus for His part did not trust Himself to them, because He knew all men;
25 And He did not need anyone to bear witness concerning man needed no evidence from anyone about men, for He Himself knew what was in human nature. He could read men's hearts. I Sam. 16:7.

2 And G1161 CONJ both G2532 CONJ Jesus G2424 N-NSM was called G2564 V-API-3S , and G2532 CONJ his G3588 T-NPM disciples G3101 N-NPM , to G1519 PREP the G3588 T-ASM marriage G1062 N-ASM .
3 And G2532 CONJ when they wanted G5302 V-AAP-GSM wine G3631 N-GSM , the G3588 T-NSF mother G3384 N-NSF of Jesus G2424 N-GSM saith G3004 V-PAI-3S unto G4314 PREP him G846 P-ASM , They have G2192 V-PAI-3P no G3756 PRT-N wine G3631 N-ASM .
4 Jesus G2424 N-NSM saith G3004 V-PAI-3S unto her G846 P-DSF , Woman G1135 N-VSF , what have I to do with thee G5101 I-NSN ? mine G3588 T-NSF hour G5610 N-NSF is not yet G3768 ADV come G2240 V-PAI-3S .
5 His G3588 T-NSF mother G3384 N-NSF saith G3004 V-PAI-3S unto the G3588 T-DPM servants G1249 N-DPM , Whatsoever G302 PRT he saith G3004 V-PAS-3S unto you G5213 P-2DP , do G4160 V-AAM-2P it .
6 And G1161 CONJ there were G2258 V-IXI-3P set G2749 V-PNP-NPF there G1563 ADV six G1803 A-NUI waterpots G5201 N-NPF of stone G3035 A-NPF , after G2596 PREP the G3588 T-ASM manner of the purifying G2512 N-ASM of G3588 T-GPM the G3588 T-GPM Jews G2453 A-GPM , containing G5562 V-PAP-NPF two G1417 A-NUI or G2228 PRT three G5140 A-APM firkins G3355 N-APM apiece G303 PREP .
7 Jesus G2424 N-NSM saith G3004 V-PAI-3S unto them G846 P-DPM , Fill G1072 V-AAM-2P the G3588 T-APF waterpots G5201 N-APF with water G5204 N-GSN . And G2532 CONJ they filled G1072 V-AAI-3P them G846 P-APF up to G2193 CONJ the brim G507 ADV .
8 And G2532 CONJ he saith G3004 V-PAI-3S unto them G846 P-DPM , Draw out G501 V-AAM-2P now G3568 ADV , and G2532 CONJ bear G5342 V-PAM-2P unto the G3588 T-DSM governor of the feast G755 N-DSM . And G2532 CONJ they bare G5342 V-AAI-3P it .
9 When G5613 ADV the G3588 T-NSM ruler of the feast G755 N-NSM had tasted G1089 V-ADI-3S the G3588 T-ASN water G5204 N-ASN that was made G1096 V-RPP-ASN wine G3631 N-ASM , and G2532 CONJ knew G1492 V-LAI-3S not G3756 PRT-N whence G4159 ADV-I it was G2076 V-PXI-3S : ( CONJ but G1161 CONJ the G3588 T-NPM servants G1249 N-NPM which drew G501 V-RAP-NPM the G3588 T-ASN water G5204 N-ASN knew G1492 V-LAI-3P ; ) the G3588 T-NSM governor of the feast G755 N-NSM called G5455 V-PAI-3S the G3588 T-ASM bridegroom G3566 N-ASM ,
10 And G2532 CONJ saith G3004 V-PAI-3S unto him G846 P-DSM , Every G3956 A-NSM man G444 N-NSM at the beginning G4412 ADV doth set forth G5087 V-PAI-3S good G2570 A-ASM wine G3631 N-ASM ; and G2532 CONJ when G3752 CONJ men have well drunk G3184 V-APS-3P , then G5119 ADV that which is worse G1640 A-ASM-C : but thou G4771 P-2NS hast kept G5083 V-RAI-2S the G3588 T-ASM good G2570 A-ASM wine G3631 N-ASM until G2193 CONJ now G737 ADV .
11 This G3588 T-ASF beginning G746 N-ASF of miracles G4592 N-GPN did G4160 V-AAI-3S Jesus G2424 N-NSM in G1722 PREP Cana G2580 N-PRI of Galilee G1056 N-GSF , and G2532 CONJ manifested forth G5319 V-AAI-3S his G3588 T-ASF glory G1391 N-ASF ; and G2532 CONJ his G3588 T-NPM disciples G3101 N-NPM believed G4100 V-AAI-3P on G1519 PREP him G846 P-ASM .
12 After G3326 PREP this G5124 D-ASN he went down G2597 V-2AAI-3S to G1519 PREP Capernaum G2584 N-PRI , he G846 P-NSM , and G2532 CONJ his G3588 T-NSF mother G3384 N-NSF , and G2532 CONJ his G3588 T-NPM brethren G80 N-NPM , and G2532 CONJ his G3588 T-NPM disciples G3101 N-NPM : and G2532 CONJ they continued G3306 V-AAI-3P there G1563 ADV not G3756 PRT-N many G4183 A-APF days G2250 N-APF .
13 And G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-GPM Jews G2453 A-GPM \' passover G3957 ARAM was G2258 V-IXI-3S at hand G1451 ADV , and G2532 CONJ Jesus G2424 N-NSM went up G305 V-2AAI-3S to G1519 PREP Jerusalem G2414 N-ASF ,
14 And G2532 CONJ found G2147 V-2AAI-3S in G1722 PREP the G3588 T-DSN temple G2411 N-DSN those that sold G4453 V-PAP-APM oxen G1016 N-APM and G2532 CONJ sheep G4263 N-APN and G2532 CONJ doves G4058 N-APF , and G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-APM changers of money G2773 N-APM sitting G2521 V-PNP-APM :
15 And G2532 CONJ when he had made G4160 V-AAP-NSM a scourge G5416 N-ASN of G1537 PREP small cords G4979 N-GPN , he drove G1544 V-2AAI-3S them all G3956 A-APM out of G1537 PREP the G3588 T-GSN temple G2411 N-GSN , and G5037 PRT the G3588 T-APN sheep G4263 N-APN , and G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-APM oxen G1016 N-APM ; and G2532 CONJ poured out G1632 V-AAI-3S the G3588 T-GPM changers G2855 N-GPM \' money G2772 N-ASN , and G2532 CONJ overthrew G390 V-AAI-3S the G3588 T-APF tables G5132 N-APF ;
16 And G2532 CONJ said G2036 V-2AAI-3S unto them G3588 T-APF that G3588 T-APF sold G4453 V-PAP-DPM doves G4058 N-APF , Take G142 V-AAM-2P these things G5023 D-APN hence G1782 ADV ; make G4160 V-PAM-2P not G3361 PRT-N my G3588 T-GSM Father G3962 N-GSM \'s house G3624 N-ASM a house G3624 N-ASM of merchandise G1712 N-GSN .
17 And G1161 CONJ his G3588 T-NPM disciples G3101 N-NPM remembered G3415 V-API-3P that G3754 CONJ it was G2076 V-PXI-3S written G1125 V-RPP-NSN , The G3588 T-NSM zeal G2205 N-NSM of G3588 T-GSM thine G3588 T-GSM house G3624 N-GSM hath eaten me up G2719 V-FDI-3S .
18 Then G3767 CONJ answered G611 V-ADI-3P the G3588 T-NPM Jews G2453 A-NPM and G2532 CONJ said G2036 V-2AAI-3P unto him G846 P-DSM , What G5101 I-ASN sign G4592 N-ASN showest G1166 V-PAI-2S thou unto us G2254 P-1DP , seeing that G3754 CONJ thou doest G4160 V-PAI-2S these things G5023 D-APN ?
19 Jesus G2424 N-NSM answered G611 V-ADI-3S and G2532 CONJ said G2036 V-2AAI-3S unto them G846 P-DPM , Destroy G3089 V-AAM-2P this G3588 T-ASM temple G3485 N-ASM , and G2532 CONJ in G1722 PREP three G5140 A-DPF days G2250 N-DPF I will raise it up G1453 V-FAI-1S .
20 Then G3767 CONJ said G2036 V-2AAI-3P the G3588 T-NPM Jews G2453 A-NPM , Forty and six G2532 CONJ years G2094 N-DPN was this temple in building G3618 V-API-3S , and G2532 CONJ wilt thou G4771 P-2NS rear it up G1453 V-FAI-2S in G1722 PREP three G5140 A-DPF days G2250 N-DPF ?
21 But G1161 CONJ he G1565 D-NSM spake G3004 V-IAI-3S of G4012 PREP the G3588 T-GSM temple G3485 N-GSM of G3588 T-GSN his G3588 T-GSN body G4983 N-GSN .
22 When G3753 ADV therefore G3767 CONJ he was risen G1453 V-API-3S from G1537 PREP the dead G3498 A-GPM , his G3588 T-NPM disciples G3101 N-NPM remembered G3415 V-API-3P that G3754 CONJ he had said G3004 V-IAI-3S this G5124 D-ASN unto them G846 P-GSM ; and G2532 CONJ they believed G4100 V-AAI-3P the G3588 T-DSF Scripture G1124 N-DSF , and G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-DSM word G3056 N-DSM which G3588 T-NSM Jesus G2424 N-NSM had said G2036 V-2AAI-3S .
23 Now G1161 CONJ when G5613 ADV he was G2258 V-IXI-3S in G1722 PREP Jerusalem G2414 N-DPN at G1722 PREP the G3588 T-DSM passover G3957 ARAM , in G1722 PREP the G3588 T-DSF feast G1859 N-DSF day , many G4183 A-NPM believed G4100 V-AAI-3P in G1519 PREP his G3588 T-ASN name G3686 N-ASN , when they saw G2334 V-PAP-NPM the G3588 T-APN miracles G4592 N-APN which G3739 R-APN he did G4160 V-IAI-3S .
24 But G1161 CONJ Jesus G2424 N-NSM did not G3756 PRT-N commit G4100 V-IAI-3S himself G1438 F-3ASM unto them G846 P-NSM , because he G846 P-DPM knew G1097 V-PAN all G3956 A-APM men ,
25 And CONJ needed G5532 N-ASF not G3756 PRT-N that G2443 CONJ any G5100 X-NSM should testify G3140 V-AAS-3S of G3588 T-GSM man G444 N-GSM : for G1063 CONJ he G846 P-NSM knew G1097 V-IAI-3S what G5101 I-NSN was G2258 V-IXI-3S in G1722 PREP man G444 N-DSM .
