Ezekiel 3:1 (AMP) Amplified Bibles

1 HE SAID to me, Son of man, eat what you find in this book; eat this scroll; then go and speak to the house of Israel.
2 So I opened my mouth, and He caused me to eat the scroll.
3 And He said to me, Son of man, eat this scroll that I give you and fill your stomach with it. Then I ate it, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth.
4 And He said to me, Son of man, go, get you to the house of Israel and speak to them with My words.
5 For you are not sent to a people of a foreign speech and of a difficult language but to the house of Israel;
6 Not to many peoples of foreign speech and of a hard language, whose words you cannot understand. Surely, had I sent you to such people, they would have listened to you and heeded My words.
7 But the house of Israel will not listen to you and obey you since they will not listen to Me and obey Me, for all the house of Israel are impudent and stubborn of heart.
8 Behold, I have made your face strong and hard against their faces and your forehead strong and hard against their foreheads.
9 Like an adamant harder than flint or a diamond point have I made your forehead; fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house. Isa. 50:7; Jer. 1:18; 15:20; Mic. 3:8.
10 Moreover, He said to me, Son of man, all My words that I shall speak to you, receive in your heart and hear with your ears.
11 And go, get you to the Jewish captives in Babylon, to the children of your people, and speak to them and tell them, Thus says the Lord God, whether they will hear or refuse to hear.
12 Then the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me a voice of a great rushing saying, Blessed be the glory of the Lord from His place above the firmament.
13 I heard the noise of the wings of the living creatures as they touched and joined each one the other its sister wing, and I heard the noise of the wheels beside them and the noise of a great rushing.
14 So the Spirit lifted me up and took me away in the vision, and I went in bitterness of discouragement in the heat of my spirit; and the hand of the Lord was strong upon me.
15 Then I came to them of the captivity at Tel-abib, who sat and dwelt by the river of Chebar, and I sat where they sat and remained there among them seven days, overwhelmed with astonishment and silent.
16 And at the end of seven days, the word of the Lord came to me:
17 Son of man, I have made you a watchman to the house of Israel; therefore hear the word at My mouth and give them warning from Me. Isa. 52:8; 56:10; 62:6; Jer. 6:17.
18 If I say to the wicked, You shall surely die, and you do not give him warning or speak to warn the wicked to turn from his wicked way, to save his life, the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood will I require at your hand.
19 Yet if you warn the wicked and he turn not from his wickedness or from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity, but you have delivered yourself.
20 Again, if a righteous man turns from his righteousness (right doing and right standing with God) and some gift or providence which I lay before him he perverts into an occasion to sin and he commits iniquity, he shall die; because you have not given him warning, he shall die in his sin and his righteous deeds which he has done shall not be remembered, but his blood will I require at your hand.
21 Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man not to sin and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he is warned; also you have delivered yourself from guilt.
22 And the hand of the Lord was there upon me, and He said to me, Arise, go forth into the plain and I will talk with you there.
23 Then I arose and went forth into the plain, and behold, the glory of the Lord stood there, like the glory I had seen by the river Chebar, and I fell on my face.
24 Then the Spirit entered into me and set me on my feet; He spoke and said to me, Go, shut yourself up in your house.
25 But you, O son of man, behold, ropes will be put upon you and you will be bound with them, and you cannot go out among people.
26 And I will make your tongue cleave to the roof of your mouth so that you cannot talk and be a reprover of the people, for they are a rebellious house.
27 But when I speak with you, I will open your mouth and you shall say to the people, Thus says the Lord God; he who hears, let him hear, and he who refuses to hear, let him refuse; for they are a rebellious house.

2 So I opened H6605 my mouth H6310 , and he caused me to eat H398 that H2063 roll H4039 .
3 And he said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP-1MS me , Son H1121 of man H120 NMS , cause thy belly H990 to eat H398 , and fill H4390 thy bowels H4578 with H854 PREP this H2063 D-DFS roll H4039 that H834 RPRO I H589 PPRO-1MS give H5414 VQPMS thee . Then did I eat H398 it ; and it was H1961 W-VQY3FS in my mouth H6310 B-CMS as honey H1706 for sweetness H4966 .
4 And he said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP me , Son H1121 of man H120 NMS , go H1980 L-PPRO-2MS , get H935 thee unto H413 PREP the house H1004 CMS of Israel H3478 , and speak H1696 with my words H1697 unto H413 PREP them .
5 For H3588 CONJ thou H859 PPRO-2MS art not H3808 NADV sent H7971 to H413 PREP a people H5971 NMS of a strange H6012 speech H8193 NFS and of a hard H3515 language H3956 NMS , but to H413 PREP the house H1004 CMS of Israel H3478 LMS ;
6 Not H3808 NADV to H413 PREP many H7227 AMP people H5971 NMP of a strange H6012 speech H8193 NFS and of a hard H3515 language H3956 NMS , whose H834 RPRO words H1697 thou canst not H3808 ADV understand H8085 VQY3MP . Surely H518 PART , had I sent H7971 thee to H413 PREP them , they H1992 PPRO-3MP would have hearkened H8085 VQY3MP unto H413 PREP thee .
7 But the house H1004 W-NMS of Israel H3478 will H14 not H3808 NADV hearken H8085 unto H413 PREP-2MS thee ; for H3588 CONJ they will H14 not H369 hearken H8085 unto H413 me : for H3588 CONJ all H3605 NMS the house H1004 W-NMS of Israel H3478 are impudent H2389 and hardhearted H7186 .
8 Behold H2009 IJEC , I have made H5414 VQQ1MS thy face H6440 CMP-2MS strong H2389 AMP against H5980 their faces H6440 CMP-3MP , and H853 PART thy forehead H4696 strong H2389 AMS against H5980 their foreheads H4696 .
9 As an adamant H8068 harder H2389 AMS than flint H6864 have I made H5414 VQQ1MS thy forehead H4696 : fear H3372 VQY3MS them not H3808 ADV , neither H3808 W-NADV be dismayed H2865 at their looks H6440 M-CMP-3MP , though H3588 CONJ they H1992 be a rebellious H4805 CMS house H1004 .
10 Moreover he said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 me , Son H1121 of man H120 NMS , all H3605 NMS my words H1697 CMP-1MS that H834 RPRO I shall speak H1696 VPY1MS unto H413 PREP-2MS thee receive H3947 VQI2MS in thine heart H3824 , and hear H8085 with thine ears H241 .
11 And go H1980 , get H935 thee to H413 PREP them of the captivity H1473 , unto H413 PREP the children H1121 of thy people H5971 , and speak H1696 unto H413 PREP them , and tell H559 them , Thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 ; whether H518 PART they will hear H8085 VQY3MP , or whether H518 W-PART they will forbear H2308 .
12 Then the spirit H7307 NFS took me up H5375 , and I heard H8085 behind H310 me a voice H6963 CMS of a great H1419 AMS rushing H7494 , saying , Blessed H1288 VWQ3MS be the glory H3519 of the LORD H3068 EDS from his place H4725 M-CMS-3MS .
13 I heard also the noise H6963 W-CMS of the wings H3671 of the living creatures H2416 that touched H5401 one H802 NFS another H269 , and the noise H6963 W-CMS of the wheels H212 over against H5980 them , and a noise H6963 W-CMS of a great H1419 rushing H7494 .
14 So the spirit H7307 W-GFS lifted me up H5375 , and took me away H3947 , and I went H1980 in bitterness H4751 AMS , in the heat H2534 of my spirit H7307 W-GFS ; but the hand H3027 of the LORD H3068 EDS was strong H2389 upon H5921 PREP-1MS me .
15 Then I came H935 to H413 PREP them of the captivity H1473 at Tel H8512 - abib , that dwelt H3427 by H413 PREP the river H5104 of Chebar H3529 , and I sat H3427 where H8033 ADV they H1992 PPRO-3MP sat H3427 , and remained H3427 there H8033 ADV astonished H8074 among H8432 B-CMS-3MP them seven H7651 RMS days H3117 NMP .
16 And it came to pass H1961 W-VQY3MS at the end H7097 M-CMS of seven H7651 RMS days H3117 NMP , that the word H1697 NMS of the LORD H3068 EDS came H1961 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP-1MS me , saying H559 L-VQFC ,
17 Son H1121 of man H120 NMS , I have made H5414 thee a watchman H6822 unto the house H1004 of Israel H3478 : therefore hear H8085 the word H1697 VQPMS at my mouth H6310 M-CMS , and give them warning H2094 from H4480 PREP-1MS me .
18 When I say H559 unto the wicked H7563 , Thou shalt surely die H4191 VQFA ; and thou givest him not warning H2094 , nor H3808 W-NPAR speakest H1696 to warn H2094 the wicked H7563 AMS from his wicked H7563 way H1870 M-CMS-3MS , to save his life H2421 ; the same H1931 PPRO-3MS wicked H7563 AMS man shall die H4191 VQY2MS in his iniquity H5771 ; but his blood H1818 will I require H1245 at thine hand H3027 M-CFS-2MS .
19 Yet if H3588 CONJ thou H859 W-PPRO-2MS warn H2094 the wicked H7563 AMS , and he turn H7725 VQQ3MS not H3808 W-NPAR from his wickedness H7562 , nor from his wicked H7563 way H1870 , he H1931 PPRO-3MS shall die H4191 VQY3MS in his iniquity H5771 ; but thou H859 W-PPRO-2MS hast delivered H5337 thy soul H5315 .
20 Again , When a righteous H6662 AMS man doth turn H7725 from his righteousness H6664 , and commit H6213 W-VQQ3MS iniquity H5766 NMS , and I lay H5414 a stumblingblock H4383 before H6440 L-CMP-3MS him , he H1931 PPRO-3MS shall die H4191 VQY3MS : because H3588 CONJ thou hast not H3808 NADV given him warning H2094 , he shall die H4191 VQY3MS in his sin H2403 , and his righteousness H6666 which H834 RPRO he hath done H6213 W-VQQ3MS shall not H3808 W-NADV be remembered H2142 ; but his blood H1818 will I require H1245 at thine hand H3027 M-CFS-2MS .
21 Nevertheless if H3588 CONJ thou H859 W-PPRO-2MS warn H2094 the righteous H6662 AMS man , that the righteous H6662 AMS sin H2398 not H1115 L-NPAR , and he H1931 W-PPRO-3MS doth not H3808 NADV sin H2398 VQQ3MS , he shall surely live H2421 , because H3588 CONJ he is warned H2094 ; also thou H859 W-PPRO-2MS hast delivered H5337 thy soul H5315 .
22 And the hand H3027 CFS of the LORD H3068 EDS was H1961 W-VQY3FS there H8033 ADV upon H5921 PREP-1MS me ; and he said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP me , Arise H6965 VQI2MS , go forth H3318 VQI2MS into H413 PREP the plain H1237 , and I will there H8033 W-ADV talk H1696 VPY1MS with H854 thee .
23 Then I arose H6965 , and went forth H3318 into H413 PREP the plain H1237 : and , behold H2009 IJEC , the glory H3519 of the LORD H3068 EDS stood H5975 there H8033 ADV , as the glory H3519 which H834 RPRO I saw H7200 VQQ1MS by H5921 PREP the river H5104 of Chebar H3529 : and I fell H5307 on H5921 PREP my face H6440 .
24 Then the spirit H7307 NFS entered H935 W-VQY3FS into me , and set H5975 me upon H5921 PREP my feet H7272 CFD-1MS , and spoke H1696 W-VPY3MS with H854 me , and said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP-1MS me , Go H935 , shut thyself H5462 within H8432 B-NMS thine house H1004 .
25 But thou H859 W-PPRO-2MS , O son H1121 CMS of man H120 NMS , behold H2009 IJEC , they shall put H5414 bands H5688 upon H5921 PREP-2MS thee , and shall bind H631 thee with them , and thou shalt not H3808 W-NPAR go out H3318 among H8432 B-CMS-3MP them :
26 And I will make thy tongue H3956 cleave H1692 to H413 PREP the roof of thy mouth H2441 , that thou shalt be dumb H481 , and shalt not H3808 W-NPAR be H1961 to them a reprover H3198 VHPMS : for H3588 CONJ they H1992 are a rebellious H4805 CMS house H1004 CMS .
27 But when I speak H1696 with H854 thee , I will open H6605 VQY1MS thy mouth H6310 CMS-2MS , and thou shalt say H559 unto H413 PREP-3MP them , Thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 ; He that heareth H8085 , let him hear H8085 ; and he that forbeareth H2310 , let him forbear H2308 : for H3588 CONJ they H1992 are a rebellious H4805 CMS house H1004 CMS .
