Jeremiah 12:1 (AMP) Amplified Bibles

1 UNCOMPROMISINGLY RIGHTEOUS and rigidly just are You, O Lord, when I complain against and contend with You. Yet let me plead and reason the case with You: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are all they at ease and thriving who deal very treacherously and deceitfully?
2 You have planted them, yes, they have taken root; they grow, yes, they bring forth fruit. You are near in their mouths but far from their hearts.
3 But You, O Lord, know and understand me and my devotion to You; You see me and try my heart toward You. O Lord pull these rebellious ones out like sheep for the slaughter and devote and prepare them for the day of slaughter.
4 How long must the land mourn and the grass and herbs of the whole country wither? Through the wickedness of those who dwell in it, the beasts and the birds are consumed and are swept away by the drought, because men mocked me, saying, He shall not live to see our final end.
5 But the Lord rebukes Jeremiah's impatience, saying If you have raced with men on foot and they have tired you out, then how can you compete with horses? And if you take to flight in a land of peace where you feel secure, then what will you do when you tread the tangled maze of jungle haunted by lions in the swelling and flooding of the Jordan?
6 For even your brethren and the house of your father--even they have dealt treacherously with you; yes, even they are like a pack of hounds in full cry after you. Believe them not, though they speak fair words and promise good things to you.
7 I have forsaken My house, I have cast off My heritage; I have given the dearly beloved of My life into the hands of her enemies.
8 My heritage has become to Me like a lion in the forest; she has uttered her voice against Me; therefore I have treated her as if I hated her.
9 Is My heritage to Me like a speckled bird of prey? Are the birds of prey against her round about? Go, assemble all the wild beasts of the field; bring them to devour.
10 Many shepherds of an invading host have destroyed My vineyard, they have trampled My portion underfoot; they have made My pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.
11 They have made it a desolation, and desolate it mourns before Me; the whole land has been made desolate, but no man lays it to heart.
12 Destroyers have come upon all the bare heights in the desert, for the sword of the Lord devours from one end of the land even to the other; no flesh has peace or can find the means to escape.
13 They have sown wheat but have reaped thorns; they have worn themselves out but without profit. And they shall be ashamed of your lack of harvests and revenues because of the fierce and glowing anger of the Lord.
14 Thus says the Lord against all My evil neighbor nations who touch the inheritance which I have caused My people Israel to inherit: Behold, I will pluck them up from their land and I will pluck up the house of Judah from among them.
15 And after I have plucked them up, I will return and have compassion on them and will bring them back again, every man to his heritage and every man to his land.
16 And if these neighbor nations will diligently learn the ways of My people, to swear by My name, saying, As the Lord lives--even as they taught My people to swear by Baal--then will they be built up in the midst of My people.
17 But if any nation will not hear and obey, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation, says the Lord.

2 Thou hast planted H5193 them , yea H1571 CONJ , they have taken root H8327 : they grow H1980 , yea H1571 CONJ , they bring forth H6213 VQQ3MP fruit H6529 : thou H859 PPRO-2MS art near H7138 AMS in their mouth H6310 B-CMS-3MP , and far H7350 from their reins H3629 .
3 But thou H859 W-PPRO-2MS , O LORD H3068 EDS , knowest H3045 me : thou hast seen H7200 me , and tried H974 mine heart H3820 NMS-1MS toward H854 PART-2MS thee : pull them out H5423 like sheep H6629 for the slaughter H2878 , and prepare H6942 them for the day H3117 L-NMS of slaughter H2028 .
4 How long H5704 PREP shall the land H776 D-GFS mourn H56 , and the herbs H6212 of every H3605 NMS field H7704 D-NMS wither H3001 , for the wickedness H7451 of them that dwell H3427 therein ? the beasts H929 NFP are consumed H5595 , and the birds H5775 ; because H3588 CONJ they said H559 VQQ3MP , He shall not H3808 NADV see H7200 VQY3MS our last end H319 .
5 If H3588 CONJ thou hast run H7323 with H854 PREP the footmen H7273 , and they have wearied H3811 thee , then how H349 W-IJEC canst thou contend H8474 with H854 PREP horses H5483 ? and if in the land H776 of peace H7965 NMS , wherein thou H859 PPRO-2MS trustedst H982 , they wearied thee , then how H349 W-IJEC wilt thou do H6213 VQY2MS in the swelling H1347 B-CMS of Jordan H3383 ?
6 For H3588 CONJ even H1571 CONJ thy brethren H251 CMP-2MS , and the house H1004 W-NMS of thy father H1 NMS , even H1571 CONJ they H1992 PPRO-3MP have dealt treacherously H898 VQQ3MP with thee ; yea H1571 CONJ , they H1992 PPRO-3MP have called H7121 a multitude H4392 after H310 thee : believe H539 them not H408 NPAR , though H3588 CONJ they speak H1696 fair words H2896 unto H413 PREP-2MS thee .
7 I have forsaken H5800 mine house H1004 CMS-1MS , I have left H5203 mine heritage H5159 ; I have given H5414 VQQ1MS the dearly beloved H3039 of my soul H5315 CFS-1MS into the hand H3709 of her enemies H341 .
8 Mine heritage H5159 is H1961 VQQ3FS unto me as a lion H738 in the forest H3293 ; it crieth out H5414 against H5921 PREP me : therefore H3651 ADV have I hated H8130 it .
9 Mine heritage H5159 is unto me as a speckled H6641 bird H5861 , the birds H5861 round about H5439 ADV are against H5921 PREP-3FS her ; come H1980 VQI2MP ye , assemble H622 all H3605 NMS the beasts H2416 CFS of the field H7704 D-NMS , come H857 to devour H402 L-NFS .
10 Many H7227 AMP pastors H7462 have destroyed H7843 my vineyard H3754 , they have trodden my portion under foot H947 , they have made H5414 my pleasant H2532 portion H2513 a desolate H8077 wilderness H4057 .
11 They have made H7760 it desolate H8077 , and being desolate H8076 it mourneth H56 unto H5921 PREP me ; the whole H3605 NMS land H776 D-GFS is made H6213 desolate H8074 , because H3588 CONJ no H369 NPAR man H376 NMS layeth H7760 VQQ3MS it to H5921 PREP heart H3820 NMS .
12 The spoilers H7703 are come H935 VQQ3MP upon H5921 PREP all H3605 NMS high places H8205 through the wilderness H4057 : for H3588 CONJ the sword H2719 GFS of the LORD H3068 L-EDS shall devour H398 from the one end H7097 M-CMS of the land H776 GFS even to H5704 W-PREP the other end H7097 of the land H776 D-GFS : no H369 NPAR flesh H1320 NMS shall have peace H7965 NMS .
13 They have sown H2232 wheat H2406 , but shall reap H7114 thorns H6975 : they have put themselves to pain H2470 , but shall not H3808 NADV profit H3276 : and they shall be ashamed H954 of your revenues H8393 because of the fierce H2740 M-CMS anger H639 CMS of the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
14 Thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the LORD H3068 EDS against H5921 PREP all H3605 NMS mine evil H7451 neighbors H7934 , that touch H5060 the inheritance H5159 which H834 RPRO I have caused my people H5971 Israel H3478 to inherit H5157 ; Behold H2009 , I will pluck them out H5428 of PREP their land H127 , and pluck out H5428 the house H1004 CMS of Judah H3063 from among H8432 them .
15 And it shall come to pass H1961 W-VQQ3MS , after that H310 PREP I have plucked them out H5428 I will return H7725 VQY1MS , and have compassion H7355 on them , and will bring them again H7725 , every man H376 NMS to his heritage H5159 , and every man H376 NMS to his land H776 .
16 And it shall come to pass H1961 W-VQQ3MS , if H518 PART they will diligently learn H3925 the ways H1870 of my people H5971 , to swear H7650 by my name H8034 , The LORD H3068 EDS liveth H2416 AMS ; as H834 K-RPRO they taught H3925 my people H5971 to swear H7650 by Baal H1168 ; then shall they be built H1129 in the midst H8432 B-NMS of my people H5971 .
17 But if H518 W-PART they will not H3808 NADV obey H8085 , I will utterly pluck up H5428 and destroy H6 that H1931 D-PPRO-3MS nation H1471 , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
