Ezekiel 44:1 (AMP) Amplified Bibles

1 THEN the man an angel brought me back the way of the outer gate of the sanctuary which faces the east, and it was shut.
2 Then the Lord said to me, This gate shall be shut; it shall not be opened and no man shall enter in by it, for the Lord, the God of Israel, has entered in by it; therefore it shall remain shut.
3 As for the prince, being the prince, he shall sit in it to eat bread before the Lord; he shall enter by way of the porch or vestibule of the gate and shall go out the same way.
4 Then he brought me by way of the north gate to the front of the temple; I looked, and behold, the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord, and I fell upon my face. Rev. 15:8.
5 And the Lord said to me, Son of man, mark well and set your heart to see with your eyes and hear with your ears all that I say to you concerning all the ordinances of the house of the Lord and all its laws, and mark well and set your heart to know who are allowed to enter the temple and all those who are excluded from the sanctuary.
6 And you shall say to the rebellious, even to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: O you house of Israel, let all your previous abominations be enough for you! Do not repeat them!
7 You have brought into My sanctuary aliens, uncircumcised in heart and uncircumcised in flesh, to be in My sanctuary to pollute and profane it, even My house, when you offer My bread, the fat and the blood; and through it all and in addition to all your abominations, they and you have broken My covenant.
8 And you have not kept charge of My holy things, but you have chosen foreign keepers to please yourselves and have set them in charge of My sanctuary.
9 Therefore thus says the Lord God: No foreigner uncircumcised in heart and flesh shall enter into My sanctuary where no one but the priests might enter, of any foreigners who are among the children of Israel.
10 But the Levites who went far away from Me when Israel went astray, who went astray from Me after their idols, they shall bear the punishment for their iniquity and guilt.
11 They shall minister in My sanctuary, having oversight as guards at the gates of the temple and ministering in the temple. They shall slay the burnt offering and the sacrifice for the people, and they shall attend the people to serve them.
12 Because the priests ministered to the people before their idols and became a stumbling block of iniquity and guilt to the house of Israel, therefore I have lifted up My hand and have sworn against them, says the Lord God, that they shall bear the punishment for their iniquity and guilt.
13 And they shall not come near to Me to do the office of a priest to Me, nor come near to any of My holy things that are most sacred; but they shall bear their shame and their punishment for the abominations which they have committed.
14 Yet I will appoint them as caretakers to have charge of the temple, for all the service of the temple and for all that will be done in it.
15 But the Levitical priests, the sons of Zadok, who kept the charge of My sanctuary when the children of Israel went astray from Me, shall come near to Me to minister to Me, and they shall attend Me to offer to Me the fat and the blood, says the Lord God.
16 They shall enter into My sanctuary; and they shall come near to My table to minister to Me, and they shall keep My charge.
17 When they enter the gates of the inner court, they shall be clothed in linen garments; no wool shall be on them while they minister at the gates of the inner court and within the temple.
18 They shall have linen turbans on their heads and linen breeches upon their loins; they shall not gird themselves with anything that causes them to sweat.
19 And when they go out into the outer court to the people, they shall put off the garments in which they ministered and lay them in the holy chambers, and they shall put on other garments, lest by contact of their garments with the people they should consecrate (separate and set apart for holy use) such persons unintentionally and unfittingly.
20 Neither shall they shave their heads or allow their locks to grow long; they shall only cut short or trim the hair of their heads.
21 Neither shall any priest drink wine when he enters the inner court.
22 Neither shall they take for their wives a widow or a woman separated or divorced from her husband; but they shall marry maidens who are virgins of the offspring of the house of Israel or a widow previously married to a priest.
23 The priests shall teach My people the difference between the holy and the common or profane, and cause them to distinguish between the unclean and the clean.
24 And in a controversy they shall act as judges, and they shall judge according to My judgments; and they shall keep My laws and My statutes in all My appointed feasts, and they shall keep My Sabbaths holy.
25 And they shall go near to no dead person to defile themselves, except for father or for mother, for son or for daughter, for brother or for sister who has had no husband; for them they may defile themselves. Lev. 21:1, 2.
26 And after he is cleansed from the defilement of a dead body they shall reckon to him seven days more before returning to the temple.
27 And on the day that he goes into the sanctuary, into the inner court to minister in the sanctuary, he shall offer his sin offering, says the Lord God.
28 This their ministry to Me shall be to them as an inheritance, for I am their inheritance; and you shall give them no possession in Israel, for I am their possession. Josh. 13:14, 33.
29 They shall eat the meal offering and the sin offering and the trespass offering, and every offering in Israel dedicated by a solemn vow to God shall be theirs.
30 And the first of all the firstfruits of all kinds, and every offering of all kinds from all your offerings, shall belong to the priests. You shall also give to the priest the first of your coarse meal and bread dough, that a blessing may rest on your house.
31 The priests shall not eat of anything that has died of itself or is torn, whether it be bird or beast.

2 Then said H559 W-VQY3MS the LORD H3068 EDS unto H413 PREP-1MS me ; This H2088 D-PMS gate H8179 shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS shut H5462 VWPMS , it shall not H3808 NADV be opened H6605 VNY3MS , and no H3808 NADV man H376 W-NMS shall enter in H935 VQY3MS by it ; because H3588 CONJ the LORD H3068 EDS , the God H430 of Israel H3478 , hath entered in H935 VQPMS by it , therefore it shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS shut H5462 .
3 It is for the prince H5387 ; the prince H5387 , he H1931 PPRO-3MS shall sit H3427 in it to eat H398 bread H3899 before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS ; he shall enter H935 VQY3MS by the way H1870 of the porch H197 of that gate H8179 , and shall go out H3318 VQY3MS by the way H1870 of the same .
4 Then brought H935 he me the way H1870 of the north H6828 gate H8179 NMS before H413 PREP the house H1004 D-NMS : and I looked H7200 , and , behold H2009 IJEC , the glory H3519 of the LORD H3068 EDS filled H4390 VQQ3MS the house H1004 CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS : and I fell H5307 upon H413 PREP my face H6440 CMP .
5 And the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP-1MS me , Son H1121 of man H120 NMS , mark well H7760 VQFC , and behold H7200 W-VQI2MS with thine eyes H5869 , and hear H8085 with thine ears H241 all H3605 NMS that H834 RPRO I H589 PPRO-1MS say H1696 VPPMS unto thee concerning all H3605 NMS the ordinances H2708 CFP of the house H1004 CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS , and all H3605 NMS the laws H8451 thereof ; and mark well H7760 the entering in H3996 of the house H1004 D-NMS , with every H3605 NMS going forth H4161 of the sanctuary H4720 .
6 And thou shalt say H559 to H413 PREP the rebellious H4805 , even to H413 PREP the house H1004 CMS of Israel H3478 , Thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 ; O ye house H1004 CMS of Israel H3478 LMS , let it suffice H7227 AMS you of H4480 all H3605 M-CMS your abominations H8441 ,
7 In that ye have brought H935 into my sanctuary strangers H1121 , uncircumcised H6189 in heart H3820 NMS , and uncircumcised H6189 in flesh H1320 NMS , to be H1961 in my sanctuary H4720 , to pollute H2490 it , even my house H1004 CMS-1MS , when ye offer H7126 my bread H3899 , the fat H2459 and the blood H1818 , and they have broken H6565 my covenant H1285 B-CFS-1MS because of H413 PREP all H3605 NMS your abominations H8441 .
8 And ye have not H3808 W-NPAR kept H8104 the charge H4931 of mine holy things H6944 : but ye have set H7760 keepers H8104 of my charge H4931 in my sanctuary H4720 for yourselves .
9 Thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 ; No H3808 NADV stranger H1121 , uncircumcised H6189 in heart H3820 NMS , nor uncircumcised H6189 in flesh H1320 NMS , shall enter H935 VQY3MS into H413 PREP my sanctuary H4720 , of any H3605 NMS stranger H1121 that H834 RPRO is among H8432 B-NMS the children H1121 of Israel H3478 LMS .
10 And PART the Levites H3881 that H834 RPRO are gone away far H7368 from me , when Israel H3478 went astray H8582 , which H834 RPRO went astray H8582 away from me after H310 PREP their idols H1544 ; they shall even bear H5375 their iniquity H5771 .
11 Yet they shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS ministers H8334 in my sanctuary H4720 , having charge H6486 at H413 PREP the gates H8179 CMP of the house H1004 D-NMS , and ministering H8334 to the house H1004 : they H1992 PPRO-3MP shall slay H7819 the burnt offering H5930 and the sacrifice H2077 for the people H5971 , and they H1992 shall stand H5975 before H6440 L-CMP-3MP them to minister H8334 unto them .
12 Because H3282 ADV they ministered unto H8334 them before H6440 L-CMP their idols H1544 , and caused H1961 W-VQQ3MS the house H1004 of Israel H3478 to fall H4383 into iniquity H5771 NMS ; therefore H3651 ADV have I lifted up H5375 VQQ1MS mine hand H3027 CFS-1MS against H5921 PREP them , saith H5002 the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 , and they shall bear H5375 their iniquity H5771 .
13 And they shall not H3808 W-NPAR come near H5066 unto H413 PREP me , to do the office of a priest H3547 unto me , nor to come near H5066 to H5921 PREP any H3605 NMS of my holy things H6944 , in H413 PREP the most holy H6944 place : but they shall bear H5375 their shame H3639 , and their abominations H8441 which H834 RPRO they have committed H6213 .
14 But I will make H5414 them keepers H8104 of the charge H4931 of the house H1004 , for all H3605 the service H5656 thereof , and for all H3605 WL-CMS that H834 RPRO shall be done H6213 therein .
15 But the priests H3548 the Levites H3881 , the sons H1121 of Zadok H6659 , that H834 RPRO kept H8104 the charge H4931 of my sanctuary H4720 when the children H1121 of Israel H3478 went astray H8582 from me , they H1992 PPRO-3MP shall come near H7126 to H413 PREP-1MS me to minister H8334 unto me , and they shall stand H5975 before H6440 L-CMP me to offer H7126 unto me the fat H2459 and the blood H1818 , saith H5002 the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 :
16 They H1992 PPRO-3MP shall enter H935 VQY3MP into H413 PREP my sanctuary H4720 , and they H1992 shall come near H7126 to H413 PREP my table H7979 , to minister H8334 unto me , and they shall keep H8104 my charge H4931 .
17 And it shall come to pass H1961 W-VQQ3MS , that when they enter in H935 at H413 PREP the gates H8179 CMP of the inner H6442 court H2691 , they shall be clothed with H3847 linen H6593 garments H899 ; and no H3808 W-NPAR wool H6785 shall come H5927 VQY3MS upon H5921 PREP-3MP them , while they minister H8334 in the gates H8179 of the inner H6442 court H2691 , and within H1004 .
18 They shall have H1961 VQY3MP linen H6593 bonnets H6287 upon H5921 PREP their heads H7218 , and shall have H1961 VQY3MP linen H6593 breeches H4370 upon H5921 PREP their loins H4975 ; they shall not H3808 NADV gird H2296 themselves with any thing that causeth sweat H3154 .
19 And when they go forth H3318 into H413 PREP the utter H2435 court H2691 , even into H413 PREP the utter H2435 court H2691 to H413 PREP the people H5971 , they shall put off H6584 their garments H899 wherein H834 RPRO they H1992 PPRO-3MP ministered H8334 , and lay H5117 them in the holy H6944 chambers H3957 , and they shall put on H3847 other H312 AMP garments H899 ; and they shall not H3808 W-NPAR sanctify H6942 the people H5971 with their garments H899 .
20 Neither H3808 NADV shall they shave H1548 their heads H7218 , nor H3808 NADV suffer their locks H6545 to grow long H7971 ; they shall only poll H3697 their heads H7218 .
21 Neither H3808 ADV shall any H3605 NMS priest H3548 drink H8354 wine H3196 , when they enter H935 into H413 PREP the inner H6442 court H2691 .
22 Neither H3808 ADV shall they take H3947 VQY3MP for their wives H802 a widow H490 W-NFS , nor her that is put away H1644 : but H518 PART they shall take H3947 VQY3MP maidens H1330 of the seed H2233 of the house H1004 CMS of Israel H3478 , or a widow H490 NFS that H834 RPRO had H1961 VQY2MS a priest H3548 before .
23 And they shall teach H3384 my people H5971 the difference between H996 PREP the holy H6944 and profane H2455 , and cause them to discern H3045 between H996 PREP the unclean H2931 and the clean H2889 .
24 And in H5921 W-PREP controversy H7379 NMS they H1992 PPRO-3MP shall stand H5975 in judgment H8199 ; and they shall judge H8199 it according to my judgments H4941 : and they shall keep H8104 my laws H8451 and my statutes H2708 in all H3605 B-CMS mine assemblies H4150 ; and they shall hallow H6942 my sabbaths H7676 .
25 And they shall come H935 VQY3MS at H413 W-PREP no H3808 NADV dead H4191 person H120 NMS to defile H2930 themselves : but H518 PART for father H1 , or for mother H517 , or for son H1121 , or for daughter H1323 , for brother H251 , or for sister H269 that H834 RPRO hath had H1961 VQQ3FS no H3808 NADV husband H376 L-NMS , they may defile themselves H2930 .
26 And after H310 he is cleansed H2893 , they shall reckon H5608 unto him seven H7651 RMS days H3117 NMP .
27 And in the day H3117 that he goeth H935 into H413 PREP the sanctuary H6944 , unto H413 PREP the inner H6442 court H2691 , to minister H8334 in the sanctuary H6944 , he shall offer H7126 his sin offering H2403 CFS-3MS , saith H5002 the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 .
28 And it shall be H1961 W-VQQ3FS unto them for an inheritance H5159 : I H589 PPRO-1MS am their inheritance H5159 : and ye shall give H5414 them no H3808 ADV possession H272 in Israel H3478 : I H589 PPRO-1MS am their possession H272 .
29 They H1992 PPRO-3MP shall eat H398 the meat offering H4503 , and the sin offering H2403 , and the trespass offering H817 ; and every H3605 W-CMS dedicated thing H2764 in Israel H3478 shall be H1961 theirs .
30 And the first H7225 of all H3605 NMS the firstfruits H1061 of all H3605 NMS things , and every H3605 NMS oblation H8641 of all H3605 NMS , of every H3605 NMS sort of your oblations H8641 , shall be H1961 VQY3MS the priest H3548 \'s : ye shall also give H5414 unto the priest H3548 the first H7225 of your dough H6182 , that he may cause the blessing H1293 to rest H5117 in H413 PREP thine house H1004 .
31 The priests H3548 shall not H3808 NADV eat H398 of any thing H3605 NMS that is dead of itself H5038 , or torn H2966 , whether H4480 PREP it be fowl H5775 D-NMS or H4480 PREP beast H929 D-NFS .
