Job 9:1 (AMP) Amplified Bibles

1 THEN JOB answered and said,
2 Yes, I know it is true. But how can mortal man be right before God?
3 If one should want to contend with Him, he cannot answer one of His questions in a thousand.
4 God is wise in heart and mighty in strength; who has ever hardened himself against Him and prospered or even been safe?
5 God Who removes the mountains, and they know it not when He overturns them in His anger;
6 Who shakes the earth out of its place, and the pillars of it tremble;
7 Who commands the sun, and it rises not; Who seals up the stars from view;
8 Who alone stretches out the heavens and treads upon the waves and high places of the sea;
9 Who made the constellations the Bear, Orion, and the loose cluster Pleiades, and the vast starry spaces of the south;
10 Who does great things past finding out, yes, marvelous things without number.
11 Behold, He goes by me, and I see Him not; He passes on also, but I perceive Him not.
12 Behold, He snatches away; who can hinder or turn Him back? Who will say to Him, What are You doing?
13 God will not withdraw His anger; the proud helpers of Rahab arrogant monster of the sea bow under Him.
14 How much less shall I answer Him, choosing out my words to reason with Him
15 Whom, though I were righteous (upright and innocent) yet I could not answer? I must appeal for mercy to my Opponent and Judge for my right.
16 If I called and He answered me, yet would I not believe that He listened to my voice.
17 For He overwhelms and breaks me with a tempest and multiplies my wounds without cause.
18 He will not allow me to catch my breath, but fills me with bitterness.
19 If I speak of strength, behold, He is mighty! And if of justice, Who, says He, will summon Me?
20 Though I am innocent and in the right, my own mouth would condemn me; though I am blameless, He would prove me perverse.
21 Though I am blameless, I regard not myself; I despise my life.
22 It is all one; therefore I say, God does not discriminate, but destroys the blameless and the wicked.
23 When His scourge slays suddenly, He mocks at the calamity and trial of the innocent.
24 The earth is given into the hands of the wicked; He covers the faces of its judges so that they are blinded to justice. If it is not God, who then is it responsible for all this inequality?
25 Now my days are swifter than a runner; they flee away, they see no good.
26 They are passed away like the swift rowboats made of reeds, or like the eagle that swoops down on the prey.
27 If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will put off my sad countenance, and be of good cheer and brighten up,
28 I become afraid of all my pains and sorrows yet to come, for I know You will not pronounce me innocent by removing them.
29 I shall be held guilty and be condemned; why then should I labor in vain to appear innocent?
30 If I wash myself with snow and cleanse my hands with lye,
31 Yet You will plunge me into the ditch, and my own clothes will abhor me and refuse to cover so foul a body.
32 For God is not a mere man, as I am, that I should answer Him, that we should come together in court.
33 There is no umpire between us, who might lay his hand upon us both, would that there were! I Tim. 2:5.
34 That He might take His rod away from threatening me, and that the fear of Him might not terrify me.
35 Then would I speak and not fear Him, but I am not so in myself to make me afraid, were only a fair trial given me.

4 He is wise H2450 JMS in heart H3824 NMS , and mighty H533 W-JMS in strength H3581 CMS : who H4310 IPRO hath hardened H7185 VHQ3MS himself against H413 PREP-3MS him , and hath prospered H7999 W-VQY3MS ?

11 Lo H2005 IJEC , he goeth H5674 VQY3MS by H5921 PREP-1MS me , and I see H7200 VQY1MS him not H3808 W-NPAR : he passeth on H2498 W-VQY3MS also , but I perceive H995 VQY1MS him not H3808 W-NPAR .
12 Behold H2005 IJEC , he taketh away H2862 VQY3MS , who H4310 IPRO can hinder H7725 VHY3MS-3MS him ? who H4310 IPRO will say H559 VQY3MS unto H413 PREP-3MS him , What H4100 IGAT doest H6213 VQY2MS thou ?
13 If God H433 NAME-4MS will not H3808 NADV withdraw H7725 VHY3MS his anger H639 CMS-3MS , the proud H7295 helpers H5826 VQCMP do stoop H7817 VQQ3MP under H8478 PREP-3MS him .
14 How much less H637 CONJ shall I H595 PPRO-1MS answer H6030 VQY1MS-3MS him , and choose out H977 VQI1MS my words H1697 CMP-1MS to reason with H5973 PREP-3MS him ?
15 Whom H834 RPRO , though H518 PART I were righteous H6663 VQQ1MS , yet would I not H3808 NADV answer H6030 VQY1MS , but I would make supplication H2603 VTY1MS to my judge H8199 L-VPCMS-1MS .

19 If H518 PART I speak of strength H3581 L-NMS , lo H2009 IJEC , he is strong H533 AMS : and if H518 PART of judgment H4941 L-NMS , who H4310 IPRO shall set me a time H3259 VHY3MS-1MS to plead ?
20 If H518 PART I justify H6663 VQY1MS myself , mine own mouth H6310 shall condemn H7561 VHY3MS-1MS me : if I say , I H589 PPRO-1MS am perfect H8535 AMS , it shall also prove me perverse H6140 W-VHY3MS-1MS .
21 Though I H589 PPRO-1MS were perfect H8535 AMS , yet would I not H3808 ADV know H3045 VQY1MS my soul H5315 CFS-1MS : I would despise H3988 VQY1MS my life H2416 CMS-1MS .
22 This H1931 PPRO-3FS is one H259 OFS thing , therefore H3651 ADV I said H559 VQQ1MS it , He H1931 PPRO-3FS destroyeth H3615 VPPMS the perfect H8535 AMS and the wicked H7563 W-AMS .
23 If H518 PART the scourge H7752 NMS slay H4191 VHY3MS suddenly H6597 ADV , he will laugh H3932 VQY3MS at the trial H4531 L-CFS of the innocent H5355 AMP .
24 The earth H776 GFS is given H5414 UNKN into the hand H3027 B-CFS of the wicked H7563 AMS : he covereth H3680 VPY3MS the faces H6440 CMS of the judges H8199 VQCMS-3FS thereof ; if H518 PART not H3808 NADV , where H645 CONJ , and who H4310 IPRO is he H1931 PPRO-3MS ?
25 Now my days H3117 W-CMP-1MS are swifter H7043 VQQ3MP than H4480 PREP-1MS a post H7323 VQPMS : they flee away H1272 VQQ3MP , they see H7200 VQQ3MP no H3808 NADV good H2896 NFS .
26 They are passed away H2498 VQQ3MP as H5973 PREP the swift H16 NMS ships H591 CFP : as the eagle H5404 K-NMS that hasteth H2907 VQY3MS to H5921 PREP the prey H400 NMS .
27 If H518 PART I say H559 VQFC-1MS , I will forget H7911 VQI1MS my complaint H7879 CMS , I will leave off H5800 VQI1MS my heaviness H6440 CMP-1MS , and comfort H1082 W-VHI1MS myself :
28 I am afraid H3025 VQQ1MS of all H3605 CMS my sorrows H6094 CFP-1MS , I know H3045 VQY1MS that H3588 CONJ thou wilt not H3808 NADV hold me innocent H5352 VPY2MS-1MS .
29 If I H595 PPRO-1MS be wicked H7561 VQY1MS , why H4100 L-IPRO then H2088 PMS labor H3021 VQY1MS I in vain H1892 NMS ?
30 If H518 PART I wash myself H7364 VTQ1MS with snow H7950 NMS water H4325 B-CMP , and make my hands H3709 CFD-1MS never H1253 B-NMS so clean H2141 W-VHQ1MS ;
31 Yet H227 ADV shalt thou plunge H2881 VQY2MS-1MS me in the ditch H7845 BD-NFS , and mine own clothes H8008 CFP-1MS shall abhor H8581 W-VPY3MP-1MS me .
32 For H3588 CONJ he is not H3808 NADV a man H376 NMS , as I H3644 PREP-1MS am , that I should answer H6030 VQY1MS-3MS him , and we should come H935 VNQ3MS together H3162 ADV-3MS in judgment H4941 BD-NMS .
33 Neither H3808 is there H3426 ADV any daysman H3198 VHPMS between H996 PREP-1MP us , that might lay H7896 VQI3MS his hand H3027 CFS-3MS upon H5921 PREP us both H8147 CMD-3MS .
34 Let him take his rod away H5493 VHI3MS from M-PREP-1MS me , and let not H408 ADV his fear H367 W-CFS-3MS terrify H1204 VPY2MS-1MS me :
35 Then would I speak H1696 VPI1MS , and not H3808 W-NPAR fear H3372 VQY1MS-3MS him ; but H3588 CONJ it is not H3808 W-NPAR so H3651 ADV with H5978 PREP-1MS me .
