1 “हम मुड़े और बाशान को जानेवाली सड़क पर चलते रहे। बाशान का राजा ओग और उसके सभी लोग प्रदेश में हम लोगों से लड़ने आए।

2 यहोवा ने मुझसे कहा, ‘ओग से डरो मत, क्योंकि मैंने इसे तुम्हारे हाथ में देने का निश्चय किया है। मैं इसके सभी लोगों और भूमि को तुम्हें दूँगा। तुम इसे वैसे ही हराओगे जैसे तुमने हेशबोन के शासक एमोरी राजा सीहोन को हराया।’

3 “इस प्रकार यहोवा, हमारे परमेश्वर ने बाशान के राजा ओग और उसके सभी लोगों को हमारे हाथ में दिया। हमने उसे इस तरह हराथा कि उसका कोई आदमी नहीं बचा।

4 तब हम लोगों ने उन नगरों पर अधिकार किया जो उस समय ओग के थे। हमने ओग के लोगों से, बाशान में ओग के राज्य अर्गोब क्षेत्र के सारे साठ नगर लिए।

5 ये सभी नगर ऊँची दीवारों, द्वारों और द्वारों में मजबूत छड़ों के साथ बहुत शक्तिशाली थे। कुछ दूसरे नगर बिना दीवारों के थे।

8 उस समय, हमने एमोरी लोगों के दो राजाओं से भूमि ली। यह भूमि यरदन नदी की दूसरी ओर है। यह भूमि अर्नोन घाटी से लेकर हेर्मोन पर्वत तक है।

9 (सिदोनी हेर्मोन पर्वत को ‘सिर्योन’ कहते हैं, किन्तु एमोरी इसे ‘सनीर’ कहते हैं।)

10 हमने समतल मैदान के नगर और गिलाद और सारे बाशान में सल्का और एद्रेई तक के नगर पर आधिपत्य स्थापित किया। सल्का और एद्रेई बाशान में ओग के राज्य के नगर थे।” (

11 बाशान का राजा ओग अकेला व्यक्ति था जो रपाई लोगों में जीवित छोड़ा गया था। ओग की चारपाई लोहे की थी। यह लगभग नौ हाथ लम्बी और चार हाथ चौड़ी थी। रब्बा नगर में यह चारपाई अभी तक है,जहाँ एमोरी लोग रहते है।)

12 “उस समय उस भूमि को हम लोगों न जीता था। मैंने रूबेन परिवार समूह को और गादी परिवार समूह को अर्नोन घाटी के सहारे अरोएर से लेकर गिलाद के आधे पहाड़ी भाग तक उसके नगरों के साथ का प्रदेश दिया है।

13 मनश्शे के आधे परिवार समूह को मैंने गिलाद का दूसरा भाग और पूरा बाशान दिया अर्थात् अर्गोब का पूरा क्षेत्र बाशान ओग का राज्य था।” (बाशान का क्षेत्र रपाईयों का प्रदेश कहा जता था।

14 मनश्शे के एक वंशज याईर ने अर्गोब के पूरे क्षेत्र अर्थात् बाशान, गशूरी और माका लोगों की सीमा तक के पूरे प्रदेश पर आधिपत्य स्थापित किया। याईर ने बाशान के इन शहरों को अपने नाम पर रखा। इसी से आज भी याईर नगर के नाम से पुकारा जाता है।)

15 “मैंने गिलाद माकीर को दिया।

16 और रूबेन परिवार समूह को तथा गाद परिवार समूह को मैंने वह प्रदेश दिया जो अर्नोन घाटी से यब्बोक नदी तक जाता है। घाटी के मध्य एक सीमा है। यब्बोक नदी अम्मोनी लोगों की सीमा है।

17 यरदन घाटी में यरदन नदी पश्चिम सीमा निर्मित करती है। इस क्षेत्र के उत्तर में किन्नेरेत झील और दक्षिण में अराबा सागर है (जिसे लवण सागर कहते हैं। ) यह पूर्व में पिसगा की चोटी के तलहटी में स्थित है।

18 “उस समय, मैंने उन परिवार समूहों को यह आदेश दिया था: ‘यहोवा, तुम्हारे परमेश्वर ने तुमको रहने के लिए यरदन नदी के इस तरफ का प्रदेश दिया है। किन्तु अब तुम्हारे योद्धाओं को अपने हथियार उठाने चाहिए और अन्य इस्राएली परिवार समूहों को नदी के पार ले जाने की अगुवाई करना चाहिए।

19 तुम्हारी पत्नियाँ, तुम्हारे छोटे बच्चे और तुम्हारे पशु (मैं जानता हूँ कि तुम्हारे पास बहुत से पशु हैं।) यहाँ उन शहरों में रहेंगे जिन्हें मैंने तुम्हें दिया है।

20 किन्तु तुम्हें अपने इस्राएली सम्बन्धियों की सहायता तब तक करनी चाहिए जब तक वे यरदन नदी के दूसरे किनारे पर उस प्रदेश को पा नहीं लेते जो यहोवा ने दिया है। उनकी तब तक सहायता करो जब तक वे ऐसी शान्ति पा ले जैसी तुमने यहाँ पा ली है। तब तुम यहाँ अपने देश में लौट सकते हो जिसे मैंने तुम्हें दिया है।’

21 “तब मैंने यहोशू से कहा, ‘तुमने वह सब देखा है। जो यहोवा, तुम्हारे परमेश्वर ने इन दो राजाओं के साथ किया है। यहोवा ऐसा ही उन सभी राजाओं के साथ करेगा जिनके राज्य में तुम प्रवेश करोगे।

22 इन देशों के राजाओं से डरो मत, क्योंकि यहोवा तुम्हारा परमेश्वर, तुम्हारे लिए लड़ेगा।’

23 “मैंने उस समय यहोवा से विशेष कृपा की प्रार्थना की।

24 मैंने यहोवा से कहा, ‘मेरे स्वामी, यहोवा, मैं तेरा सेवक हूँ। मैं जानता हूँ कि तूने उन शक्तिशाली और अद्भुत चीजों का एक छोटा भाग ही मुझे दिखाया है जो तू कर सकता है। स्वर्ग या पृथ्वी पर कोई ऐसा दूसरा ईश्वर नहीं है, जो तूने किया है तेरे समान महान और शक्तिशाली कार्य कर सके!

25 मैं तुमसे निवेदन करता हूँ कि तू मुझे पार जाने दे और यरदन नदी के दूसरी ओर के अच्छे प्रदेश, सुन्दर पहड़ी प्रदेश लबानोन को देखने दे।’

26 “किन्तु यहोवा तुम्हारे कारण मुझ पर अप्रसन्न था। उसने मेरी बात सुनने से इन्कार कर दिया। उसने मुझसे कहा, ‘तुम अपनी बात यहीं खत्म करो! इसके बारे में एक शब्द भी न कहो।

27 पिसगा पर्वत की चोटी पर जाओ। पश्चिम की ओर, उत्तर की ओर, दक्षिण की ओर, पूर्व की ओर देखो। सारे प्रदेश को तुम अपनी आँखों से ही देखो क्योंकि तुम यरदन नदी को पार नहीं करोगे।

28 तुम्हें यहोशू को निर्देश देना चाहिए। उसे दृढ़ और साहसी बनाओ! क्यों? क्योंकि यहोशू लोगों को यरदन नदी के पार ले जाएगा। यहोशू उन्हें प्रदेश को लेने और उसमें रहने के लिए ले जाएगा। यही वह प्रदेश है जिसे तुम देखोगे।’

29 इसलिए हम बेतपोर की दूसरी और घाटी में ठहर गये।”
